Nothing excludes that Jesus may have been seen by John, in vision, in a distant future. The bible is under a veil. Jesus, the Son of Man, the Shiloh, the Master of justice, the Lamb… seem all to be the same character.
So let's admit HE was to come.
What advantages might there be to say "he has come" if you are wise and know there is a dark cult controlling the romans & the world since man appeared, and know their modus operandi?
And now, if Jesus came as announced, could anyone imagine him getting in touch with 8 billion humans to see if they fit for the kingdom? Wouldn't he rather "write with his finger on earth" (write a book) with which everyone could judge himself?
Once the veil is lifted, not a single line in the bible doesn't make sense.
Aren't every human on earth waiting for the truth to be told, a truth that not a single one scientist or religious leader ever grasped?
Knowledge destroys the darkness, and John told us : Truth will make us free
