Kiev accuses Ukrainian MP of state treason

The prosecutor general is seeking to put the opposition politician and long-time Zelensky critic on an international wanted list

Ukrainian law enforcement has accused opposition MP Ilya Kiva of state treason. The nation’s prosecutor general, Irina Venediktova, informed the lawmaker about her agency’s decision in a fiery Facebook post on Sunday, accusing him of “doing everything” to invite the “Russian aggressors” to Ukraine.

Kiva’s actions have dealt “colossal damage” to Ukraine, Venediktova said, warning that he will face “no other destiny” than arrest, extradition, and trial. She did not list any specific actions that earned the MP a place on Ukraine’s “list of suspects,” but instead accused him of “doing everything” to make Ukraine’s borders “change,” forcing millions of Ukrainians out of the country, and making “millions of Ukrainians hide in bombs shelters.”

Venediktova, apparently referring to the ongoing Russian military invasion of Ukraine, said her words were based on, “not emotion,” but a list of “facts.”

Kiva, a former member of the ‘Opposition Platform — For Life’ party, has long been a fierce critic of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kiev’s pro-NATO policies.

In a recent interview, the MP slammed the US and NATO for using Ukraine as “bait” to provoke Russia into a conflict. Washington and its allies tricked Zelensky and then just threw Ukraine away, he said. “The worst thing is that the Ukrainian people have gone down” along with the government in Kiev, Kiva added.

The MP has long advocated for neutral status for Ukraine and opposed the nation’s aspirations to join NATO. After Moscow launched its miliary operation in Ukraine, Kiva accused Zelensky of provoking the bloodshed.

Food Price Index Hits All-Time High in February — Up 24% From One Year Ago — And It’s Going Higher

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations reported last week that the international food price index hit an all-time high in February. Food prices are up 24% from one year ago.

And it’s only going to get worse.

The FAO Food Price Index* (FFPI) averaged 140.7 points in February 2022, up 5.3 points (3.9 percent) from January and as much as 24.1 points (20.7 percent) above its level a year ago. This represents a new all-time high, exceeding the previous top of February 2011 by 3.1 points. The February rise was led by large increases in vegetable oil and dairy price sub-indices. Cereals and meat prices were also up, while the sugar price sub-index fell for the third consecutive month.

Global food prices hit an all-time high last month, up 3.9% from January and 24.1% from a year ago, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was just getting started.

Putin Orders Companies To Make Debt Payments To Foreign Creditors In Rubles

Last week, following reports that as part of its countersanctions, the Russian central bank had banned payments to foreign owners of ruble bonds known as OFZ, we said that it was now just a matter of days if not hours, before Russia was in technical default (similar to what happened in 1998 when a Russian default led to the collapse of a little-known hedge fund known LTCM, which was bailed out and ushered in today's era of moral hazard). And sure enough, late on Friday Bloomberg reported that ahead of the weekend foreign holders of Russia’s local-currency government bonds still haven’t received coupon payments three days after they were due, citing financial data provider CBonds and five investors at American and European firms.

Russia’s National Settlement Depository received the interest - 11.2 billion rubles ($98 million) on 339 billion rubles of bonds known as OFZs due February 2024 - from the government on Wednesday and paid local investors, they said. But international investors weren’t paid because of the Russian central bank’s order barring foreign payments.

“Money is in NSD, payments to Russian bondholders were made,” said Elena Avdonicheva, Head of Russia & CIS Fixed Income Department at CBonds. “Payments to non-residents weren’t made due to government ban, this money is frozen in NSD until further notice. Technically we can expect that money will reach bondholders later.”

And with a bevy of both local and foreign bond coupon payments on deck in the coming days, it's just a matter of time before something snaps.

British energy giant apologizes for purchase of Russian discounted oil

Shell pledges to commit profits to humanitarian aid for Ukraine

Europe’s largest energy company, Shell, announced plans to donate the profits from its latest purchase of Russian crude oil to a fund that helps Ukrainian refugees. The decision followed sharp criticism from Ukraine’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba over the move, however, it did not violate any Western sanctions.

“We will commit profits from the limited amount of Russian oil we have to purchase to a dedicated fund,” the company said in a statement, published via its official Twitter account.

“We will work with aid partners and humanitarian agencies over the coming days and weeks to determine where the monies from this fund are best placed to alleviate the terrible consequences that this war is having on the people of Ukraine,” Shell added.

On Friday, the oil major purchased 100,000 metric tons of flagship Urals crude from Russia. The deal was reportedly carried out at a record discount as many firms shunning Russian oil due to the latest development in Ukraine.

The company added that it had been in “intense talks with governments and continue to follow their guidance around this issue of security of supply, and are acutely aware we have to navigate this dilemma with the utmost care.”

“We will continue to choose alternatives to Russian oil wherever possible, but this cannot happen overnight because of how significant Russia is to global supply,” Shell added.

Earlier this week, Shell announced plans to exit its joint ventures with Russian state-run gas giant Gazprom and its related entities.

White House Says It's Working With Poland To Get Jets To Ukraine - Warsaw Responds: "Fake News"

Ukraine's President Zelensky has been urging the United States and NATO countries that his military desperately needs more fighter jets to take on the Russian invasion force, on Friday telling US lawmakers in a Zoom call "close the skies or give us planes" - according to a Congressional leader present for the address.

Apparently the Biden administration is busy working on just that, also at a moment Congress is still prepping a whopping $10 billion military and humanitarian aide package for Ukraine. The new aircraft deal would involve transferring Russian-made warplanes to Kiev from neighboring Poland, according to a new report in FT.

To expedite the deal - given the battlefield situation and Ukraine's ability to defend itself depends largely on the speediness of getting sufficient arms - Washington would quickly replace Warsaw's MiG-29 jets with F-16 fighters.

However, a White House official was quoted in the FT report as admitting the deal could be held up by "a number of challenging practical questions, including how the planes could actually be transferred from Poland to Ukraine."

Further there's the question of recent threat's by Vladimir Putin himself against any country seeking to pour more weapons into the hands of the Ukrainian forces. Putin days ago issued a veiled threat of war against any country supplying weapons that are use to kill Russian soldiers, saying those outside nations would "bear the responsibility".

A White House spokesperson had confirmed to FT that "We are also working on the capabilities we could provide to backfill Poland if it decided to transfer planes to Ukraine." And previously Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US is "very actively" looking at resupplying Poland if it can quickly transfer its own Russian-made aircraft to Ukraine.

"We are looking actively now at the question of airplanes that Poland may provide to Ukraine and looking at how we might be able to backfill should Poland decide to supply those planes," Blinken said in Moldova, while on a trip that highlighted the growing refugee crisis from the war.

Crucially, there was this statement from an unnamed Polish official given to FT: "I can’t speak to a timeline but I can just say we’re looking at it very, very actively." The official said further, "Poland is not in a state of war with Russia, but it is not an impartial country, because it supports Ukraine as the victim of aggression. It considers, however, that all military matters must be a decision of Nato as a whole."

Russian banks switch to Chinese UnionPay

Move supposed to soften effect on Russian card holders due to Visa and MasterCard withdrawal

On Sunday, several Russian banks announced plans to start issuing cards using the Chinese UnionPay card operator system.

The step, which came shortly after Mastercard and Visa pledged to cease operations in Russia and disconnect all the country’s banks from their payment systems, will enable the holders of new cards to use them for paying and withdrawing cash abroad.

On Saturday, international financial service providers Visa and Mastercard said they would suspend operations in Russia within the next several days due to the latest Western sanctions related to Moscow’s ongoing war in Ukraine. The drastic step makes the use of cards issued in Russia outside the country implausible. Likewise, cards that were issued outside of Russia will stop working in Russia.

Visa and Mastercard are the latest international brands taking harsh moves towards Russia over the Ukrainian conflict. Earlier, companies such as PayPal, Netflix, Intel, Inditex, Airbnb and Rolls Royce announced they were leaving the country’s market.

Russian banks, including Sberbank, Russia’s biggest lender, as well as Alfa Bank and Tinkoff issued announcements regarding the switch to UnionPay due to the latest developments. Some of Russia’s banks, like Pochta Bank, Gazprombank, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank and several other minor banks had been previously working with the UnionPay card operator’s system.

UnionPay, an international payment system founded in 2002, received international status in 2005. Headquartered in Shanghai, the company reportedly operates in more than 180 countries across the globe, including Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, Mexico, Cyprus, Thailand, India, Israel, Portugal, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Hungary and Austria.

British Child Groomed and Sexually Abused by Up to 300 Men, Court Hears

Leeds Crown Court has heard that a British girl was abused and groomed by up to 300 men by the time she reached the age of 17.

The courtroom was told that the girl was targeted by a group of men from the age of 14, and her parents had contacted social services after she repeatedly returned home looking dishevelled and under the influences of drugs and alcohol — one time completely naked from the waist down.

However, Kate Batty, for the prosecution, said that the unidentified girl’s parents were told by social services that “she must love it if she keeps going back” — a stance that has stark parallels to the era when Gordon Brown’s government were accused of sending a letter to all police forces saying underage girls who were groomed at the time had “made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour and therefore it is not for police officers to get involved in” despite such activity clearly being a criminal matter.

In one instance, the girl in this latest case was held with a knife to her throat as a man sexually abused her, with the prosecution saying the number of men believed to have sexually assaulted the girl was between 200 and 300, YorkshireLive reports.

The prosecution was only focused on one of the girl’s abusers, however — namely one Nasarat Hussain, who attempted to rape the girl when he was 17 and beat her up at a house used by a grooming gang when she refused.

Hussain, who is now 33, was already serving a notional 17-year sentence — prisoners in Britain almost never serve their full sentence in custody — for rape and sexual assault when he was arrested for this crime in 2018.

After his conviction, Judge Geoffrey Marson QC added a mere two years to Hussein’s term.

Billy Howarth, the founder of Parents Against Grooming UK (PAGUK), an anti-abuse, pro-children’s rights group based in the rape gang hotspot of Rochdale, told Breitbart London that this was a case of “another poor child failed by a broken system”.

Howarth insisted that when it comes to Britain’s child protection services services “we need to rip up the handbook and start again” with “top-down reform,” as the current system is “clearly not working”.

“Over 300 men abused this girl, yet only one person has been convicted — this echoes what happened in Rochdale where 1,400 men were involved in widespread child abuse yet only nine were convicted. This explains the huge problem our kids face as thousands of paedophiles roam the UK unchecked and ignored by authorities”, Howarth claimed.

“We must do better we must start again for the sake of our children and teenagers”, the children’s advocate went on.

Finishing, Howarth praised the victim for taking one of her abusers to court, saying: “We at PAGUK represent survivors so it’s only right we finish with paying tribute to the lady who has been so brave in speaking out. It’s not easy, but it is the 1st step on a long road to recovery. We wish her all the best”.

Far-left Oregon Governor furious after judge blocks her from mass release of criminals, says she’s got a new plan

PORTLAND, OR – Governor Kate Brown has been granted numerous authoritative powers by the Oregon state constitution.

One of those powers is the right to grant commutations of prison sentences. Brown decided to hand that decision-making process off to the state parole board.

This issue wound up in court after a group, Common Sense for Oregon, sued the governor for the attempted expansion of the parole board’s power.

If Brown’s effort had been allowed to pass, there would have been numerous juvenile convicts in front of those decision makers seeking early release.

Citing roughly 250 cases that would have been in front of the board, the group’s president Kevin Mannix said:

“They would have to be going through the discussion of what happened to them, the impact of this crime on them. And they are now going to be relieved of that.”

As reported by KOIN 6:

“A circuit court judge decided Brown could not transfer her constitutional authority to grant commutations and clemency to the parole board’s discretion. The move would have expanded the parole board’s authority which the judge said isn’t allowed.”

As part of that same lawsuit, the court upheld nearly 1,200 commutations.

Her office said of that decision:

“The Governor is pleased the court’s letter opinion has affirmed that her use of clemency powers was within her authority and upheld every single commutation granted to date, impacting almost 1,200 individuals.”

Despite this, Brown believes that her clemency authority can and should be used to “address systemic failures in our criminal justice system while we work to make lasting change.”

Apparently, she also believes that her authority should be exercised by a group of people who are not granted said authority by the state’s lawmakers.

One of the clemency requests Brown was looking at was that of Lynley Rayburn.

She was convicted of the 2005 murder of 54-year-old Dale Crittendon Rost II. Along with Gerard Smith, Rayburn decided to rob him after they spotted him outside of his home.

Armed with a rifle and high on meth, the couple forced the man inside.

Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, have pledged to donate up to $3 million to aid Ukrainian citizens fleeing from their war-torn country as Russia continues its deadly invasion.

In a Thursday video shared to his Twitter account, Kutcher and Kunis said that they were "proud" of Kunis's heritage and intended to provide aid for Ukrainian refugees.

“I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983. I came to America in 1991," Kunis explained. "I have always considered myself American, a proud American, I love everything that this country has done for myself and my family. But today, I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian."

"We’re raising funds to support a relief effort that will have immediate impact and supply much needed refugee and humanitarian aid in the area. The principal challenge right now is logistics. We need to get housing, and we need to get supplies and resources into the area."

Kunis added, "The people of Ukraine are strong and brave but being strong and brave doesn’t mean you’re not worthy of support. We need to support the people of Ukraine. Please help us."

How Ukraine’s Jewish president Zelensky made peace with neo-Nazi paramilitaries on front lines of war with Russia

While Western media deploys Volodymyr Zelensky’s Jewish heritage to refute accusations of Nazi influence in Ukraine, the president has ceded to neo-Nazi forces and now depends on them as front line fighters.

Back in October 2019, as the war in eastern Ukraine dragged on, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to Zolote, a town situated firmly in the “gray zone” of Donbas, where over 14,000 had been killed, mostly on the pro-Russian side. There, the president encountered the hardened veterans of extreme right paramilitary units keeping up the fight against separatists just a few miles away.

Elected on a platform of de-escalation of hostilities with Russia, Zelensky was determined to enforce the so-called Steinmeier Formula conceived by then-German Foreign Minister Walter Steinmeier which called for elections in the Russian-speaking regions of Donetsk and Lugansk.

In a face-to-face confrontation with militants from the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion who had launched a campaign to sabotage the peace initiative called “No to Capitulation,” Zelensky encountered a wall of obstinacy.

With appeals for disengagement from the frontlines firmly rejected, Zelensky melted down on camera. “I’m the president of this country. I’m 41 years old. I’m not a loser. I came to you and told you: remove the weapons,” Zelensky implored the fighters.

Once video of the stormy confrontation spread across Ukrainian social media channels, Zelensky became the target of an angry backlash.

Andriy Biletsky, the proudly fascist Azov Battalion leader who once pledged to “lead the white races of the world in a final crusade…against Semite-led Untermenschen”, vowed to bring thousands of fighters to Zolote if Zelensky pressed any further. Meanwhile, a parliamentarian from the party of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko openly fantasized about Zelensky being blown to bits by a militant’s grenade.

Though Zelensky achieved a minor disengagement, the neo-Nazi paramilitaries escalated their “No Capitulation” campaign. And within months, fighting began to heat up again in Zolote, sparking a new cycle of violations of the Minsk Agreement.

By this point, Azov had been formally incorporated into the Ukrainian military and its street vigilante wing, known as the National Corps, was deployed across the country under the watch of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, and alongside the National Police. In December 2021, Zelensky would be seen delivering a “Hero of Ukraine” award to a leader of the fascistic Right Sector in a ceremony in Ukraine’s parliament.

A full-scale conflict with Russia was approaching, and the distance between Zelensky and the extremist paramilitaries was closing fast.

RAIR Foundation USA interviewed Mr. Kuhn and a witness on March 2, 2022 but on March 4, 2022, the Iconic Cafe posted on Facebook that they have been forced to close “temporarily”.

Mr. Kuhn provided his perspective about the police abuse exclusively to RAIR Foundation USA. He said that there was no “emergency” despite the Trudeau regime’s invocation of the “Emergencies Act.” Kuhn also stated that some of the “police” officers were from other countries and could not speak English. Further, he told RAIR that the truckers were not blocking streets. The police, however, were blocking streets.

RAIR also interviewed Sam, a dad and Iconic Cafe patron who witnessed the incident. Sam gave context to the police encounter, explaining what happened in the crucial moments leading up to the intimidation at the cafe (watch interviews below).

Owners of a cafe in Ottawa were told by police their windows would be smashed and they would be arrested for staying open during the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa, the event was recorded by a customer on the inside of the shop.

On Sunday, February 20, a group of police officers showed up at the Iconic Cafe, where owners Enrico and Deborah Kuhn refused them entry.

“I’m not opening the door. I don’t trust you,” said Enrico through the glass.

The Kuhns kept refusing until the cops backed off, taking their chances on whether they would break in or not.

“I don’t care,” said Enrico to the cop’s demands.

“This is my property, I can decide who I let on here.”

He explained the police later claimed they were there for inspection and threatened to take away his business license for life.

“They don’t have a warrant, and they want to inspect, inspect what? That was an excuse. Inspection is never done on the weekend, only on weekdays,” said Enrico.

“I said ok, what do we have to lose anyway? I have nothing left after this, so I don’t comply to them.”

Enrico said despite the bullying and scaring tactics, his faith kept him strong and he was not afraid.

UPDATE: The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed that on March 6, a high-precision long-range weapon destroyed the airfield of the Ukrainian Air Force in Vinnytsia. Three Ukrainian Su-27 fighters and three UAVs were shot down by Russian air defense forces in the air.

On March 5 and 6, the Ukrainian Air Force lost 11 combat aircraft and 2 helicopters.

On March 6, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky once again found a reason to call for the “humanism” of his Western colleagues and demanded NATO to close the skies over Ukraine. The reason turned out to be another fake, which was revealed by the Ukrainian military.

During another video address Zelensky claimed:

“I have just been informed about the rocket attack on Vinnytsia. Eight missiles against our peaceful good Vinnytsia, which has never threatened Russia in any way. … An airport was completely destroyed . … We demand every day to close the sky over Ukraine. Close for all Russian missiles, for Russian combat aircraft, for all those terrorists. Make a humanitarian air zone. … This is your humanitarian duty. … This is also the responsibility of the politicians of the world and the entire West. Today and always, ” Zelensky said.

The video made by the UAF in Vinnytsia confirmed that the city region were hit with missiles.

However, the serviceman of the UAF with the call sign Ignat spoiled the performance of Zelenskiy about the civilian airport and “peaceful good Vinnytsia”, claiming that the military base at the Gavrishovka airfield was destroyed.

The serviceman also claimed that the strike was made from the territory of Transnistria, what is very unlikely, as Russian forces could easily launch them from Crimea as well as fom the Black Sea.

The lies by all Ukrainian officials confirm that the communication between the Ukrainian General Staff and local military commanders is on a very poor level, so that they cannot coordinate the fakes they are spreading.

Sunday Talks, Secretary Blinken Says Poland has Green Light to Send Fighter Jets to Ukraine, U.S. Will Replace

Appearing on Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken states Poland has the “green light” from the U.S. and NATO to provide fighter planes to the Ukraine military.

Secretary Blinken notes the U.S. will “backfill” Poland (terms ongoing), which means the U.S. is willing to replace each of the Polish planes with U.S. fighter jet replacements. Obviously, the industrial military complex would approve of this plan; however, who pays and what authorities of this arms deal with Poland apply?

Setting aside the pilots of Poland that would need training and accepting there could be some long-term maintenance issues for equipment they may not be equipped to maintain, the nationalist political ideology of Poland is not in alignment with Obama/Biden. Will the U.S. government seek to change the social system in Poland as an outcome of a weakened Polish arsenal?

Bottom line, the U.S. and NATO are getting more involved. The U.S. State Dept, the rogue construct within the Fourth Branch of Government, is trying to turn World War Reddit/Tik Tok into a hot war of NATO against Russia, despite their protestations to the contrary.

Peter Dutton has warned of Vladimir Putin’s propensity to “use chemical weapons” and said nuclear conflict could occur should restrictions be placed on Ukrainian airspace.

Defence Minister Peter Dutton has said Vladimir Putin could use his chemical weapon stockpile on Ukraine.

Mr Dutton praised the Ukrainian defence throughout the country and especially in Kyiv and Kharkiv as the Russian assault has been delayed by fierce opposition.

However, the Defence Minister said there was a “sense of inevitability” around Russia’s eventual seizure of Ukraine.

“They have been stifled and the Ukrainians have put up a magnificent resistance so far, but there is a sense of inevitability when you look at the strength and sheer numbers and also the propensity for Putin to use chemical weapons,” Mr Dutton told the ABC’s Insiders program on Sunday.

“Or other weapons which would be used in a residential area that would have an outcome we just couldn't imagine.

“Which would be a war crime, I might point out, which is another ingredient in all of this as well.”

The use of chemical weapons has been flagged as a potential avenue for Mr Putin given the invasion has not yet gone to plan.

Fears rose when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed the US was developing “biological materials” in Ukraine without providing any evidence to support the wild assertion.

The United States Ambassador to United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield has also raised the possibility of Russia using biological weapons on Ukraine.
