Hitch-hiked from Portland down to San Francisco in the early 70s. Saw Heart and Blue Oyster Cult at Winterland. Did some liquid LSD over in People's Park in Berkeley. Gypsy skirts, bells and toe rings.
Would never go back now. The dream is gone.

my memories are with me today. I met a Navy guy on leave there from my home state and ….well, I was 17, pregnant and he was stationed in Hawaii. Kek.We worked it all out and went home. Raised our son and have teen grandkids now. About the same age as I was when I headed out west with the hippies…
Certainly been a long strange trip! My heart hurts over the loss of beautiful Portland, too. I can still hear the hammer dulcimers echoing under the Burnside Bridge at Saturday Market. Days of azure skies and rhododendron forests.
