Went to USAspending.gov and used "covert hardware" as search terms. Oogatz.

Then did an advanced search using "DARPA" as the agency and "hardware" as the keyword. In the 'other' tab, found a recent agreement between DARPA and NVIDIA. On the one hand, NVIDA will be funded to detect and attribute false multi-modal media. On the other hand, however, they will also be funded for "state of the art media generation capabilities". 2+ years remain on the contract.

"This agreement establishes a funding relationship between DARPA and NVIDIA Corporation to advance research in detecting, attributing, and characterizing falsified multi-modal media (text, image, video, audio).

NVIDIA will support DARPAs semantic forensics (semafor) program by contributing state-of-the-art media generation capabilities and resulting datasets that will continually challenge the detection, attribution, and characterization components developed by other semafor performers.

Access to such state-of-the-art capabilities is critical to ensuring that the semafor program is developing defenses for the most relevant media manipulation attacks. In return NVIDIA will gain significant insights into the development of media manipulation algorithms, which will likely lead to new markets for NVIDIAs hardware products as well as enhancing the support for current NVIDIA customers."

"Semafor Program" - looks like funding began in 2020. Don't like the looks o'dat.
