Scam Text Circulating
The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam text circulating, that has some local residents concerned.  The United States Army Recruiting Command says the scam is appearing in text messages all across the country, stating that a military draft is occurring, and the recipient must report for duty or face legal and financial consequences. The texts may or may not include a number to call, but usually include the address to a nearby recruiting station. As of yet, there are no reports about what happens when you contact the number, but it’s advised you avoid it. Most likely, it’ll be someone out to extort money from you. The Sheriff’s Office says the Army is not sending draft notices via text. It’s recommended that you do not click on any suspicious links and delete suspected scam texts immediately.
