GrapheneOS review | 3 weeks with a DeGoogled Phone | Secure & Private Mobile OS

>34,570 views | Sep 13, 2021

This video will encompass a summary of my GrapheneOS review after using it for 3 weeks. GrapheneOS is a consumer-grade open-source mobile operating system based on the Android Open Source Project, or AOSP. It's one among the many custom ROMs created on that platform. Unlike previous homemade ROMs, though, this one offers enhanced privacy and security. It improves technologies such as app sandboxing, exploit protection, and the permission model significantly.

Daniel Micay, the co-founder of CopperheadOS, a privacy and security-focused mobile OS, developed this relatively new mobile OS. GrapheneOS used to be known as the Android Hardening Project when it was created in late 2014. Micay and his team decided to rebrand the project in 2019 to better reflect how it has grown and matured.

How Trump is undermining press freedom around the world

By Michael J. Abramowitz and Arch Puddington

May 2, 2017 at 6:00 a.m. PDT

Global press freedom has long been in decline and is now at its lowest point in the past 13 years, according to Freedom House’s latest assessment, released last week. What is new, and especially disquieting, are the mounting pressures on the media in the United States, including sharp attacks on reporters by the Trump administration.

Freedom House 2018 Report on Democracy

“The greatest danger comes from the fact that American democracy is not infinitely durable, especially if a president shows little respect for its tenets,” said Michael J Abramowitz, president of Freedom House. “Anti-democratic rhetoric and the rejection of democratic constraints on power can be first steps towards real restrictions on freedom.”

“Challenges to democracy in the United States have outsized effects beyond American borders,” Mr. Abramowitz added. “Other nations watch what is happening in the United States and take cues from its leaders’ behavior. The ongoing deterioration of American democracy will accelerate the decline of democracy around the world.”

President Trump Is Leading an Assault on Democracy in the U.S. And Around the World, Report Claims

"The core institutions of American democracy are being battered by an administration that has treated the country's traditional checks and balances with disdain," Michael J. Abramowitz, president of Freedom House said. "The Trump administration has made a sharp break from the political consensus of the last 70 years by casting aside democracy as the animating force behind American foreign policy."
