Whenever something is designated and recognized, it is always exclusive. Someone is left out. It is a system of exclusion. It should be done away with.
I used to volunteer all the time for all kinds of stuff at church and my son's school. Nearly every night of the week, I would run out of the house after dinner to do volunteer work.
The school had a recognition dinner for all of the coaches. I was not a coach, so I didn't get recognized for all of the volunteer work that I did. Boo hoo. I didn't feel sorry for myself, but it just pointed out that some people are recognized and some aren't. When the do-good busy bodies of the world decide to recognize one group, they should always keep in mind that they are purposely excluding another group.
