re: Freedom Convoy Ottawa, Canada

It seems weird, the 2 high profile items that arose, in the aftermath of the protest, involved Native Canadians…

First - Tamara Lich, who stated several times, she was Metis - denied bail

Next - the lady with the walker, who was run over by horses, is Mohawk (Candy Sero is a Tyendinaga Mohawk Wolf Clan grandmother/Elder)

When the Emergency Act was implemented, there was an exemption…

Exemption

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to

• (a) a person registered as an Indian under the Indian Act;

When the Constitution was repatriated in 1982, First Nations, Inuit and Métis were recognized as Indigenous Peoples with rights under Canadian law.

Section 35 of the 1982 Constitution Act guaranteed Indigenous rights but they were not defined

In 2016, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in Daniels v. Canada (Indian Affairs and Northern Development) that Métis and non-status Indians are considered Indians under s. 91(24) of the 1982 Constitution.

The decision established that the federal government must accept responsibility for negotiating programs and services for Métis communities.

I am not sure if the Metis are registered under the Indian Act (very grey area) - not a lawfag, so I am not sure about Saskatchewan

It just seems kind of weird that the two of the prominent people are both Native Canadians

There doesn't seem to be too much info out there, about Tamara, whether or not she is registered….

Might be worth a dig?
