Film director reflects on Zelensky's years as an actor before he became Ukraine's president

Just a few years ago Volodymyr Zelensky was a very popular actor in Ukraine known for his lighthearted comedy.

Now, in a very serious time for the world, he is the president of his country and an image of strength against the Russian invasion.

"It's not surprising that he would appear to have the heart of a lion because the Ukrainian people are the same way," said David Dodson who has known and worked with Zelensky for 14 years.

In that time, he says they've become friends and he calls him by the familiar version of his name: Volodya. Dodson directed him in three feature films, including Zelensky's last movie "Me You He She."

Dodson says he always saw leadership qualities in the the now Ukrainian president.

Russian strikes pounded the central square in Ukraine's second-largest city and other civilian targets, and a 40-mile convoy of tanks and other vehicles threatened the capital.

"He's sincere, he actually means it. There's no guile, he's not overwhelming anybody with ego, he just genuinely cares," he added.

The images of Zelensky holding news conferences and showing himself live in his office are startling considering he is undoubtedly a target.

"In the same way that if somebody were to break into your home you would have no choice but to stay and defend the things that you loved and he's doing no different."

While they made movies together Dobson says fans would come up and ask Zelensky for photos and autographs and he would always take time for them. He says that how he was with everyone - always making them feel part of the family.

"That's a very Ukrainian kind of quality, everything becomes about family very quickly and so the feeling of trust is the thing which gives you power, and I know that the Ukrainian people now, in this moment, trust him and that gives them the courage to go on," he said.

Obama White House Doctor Calls For Immediate Biden Resignation: ‘Not Cognitively Capable Of Leading’

Former White House physician Ronny Jackson, who served in the role under the Obama and Trump administrations, said on Friday that Democrat President Joe Biden needed to immediately resign to spare putting the country through more suffering because Biden is not mentally fit to be president.

“Biden doesn’t know what’s going on with Ukraine,” Jackson tweeted. “He doesn’t know what’s going on with ANYTHING! He’s not cognitively capable of leading. He needs to RESIGN before our country suffers any more.”

Jackson’s remarks come after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion into Ukraine late last month that threatens to throw the entire continent of Europe into war.

“The whole country is seeing his mental cognitive issues on display for over a year now, and there’s really no question in most people’s minds that there’s something going on with him, that he’s not cognitively the same as he used to be and, in my mind, not fit to be our president right now,” Jackson said during an interview last month. “Every time he gets up and talks to the American people, it’s not just the American people that are watching him speak, it’s the whole world, and that’s part of what the problem is here. He looks tired, he looks weak, he looks confused, he’s incoherent, and it sends a message of weakness all over the world, and they’re seizing up on that.”

“He’s got 40 years of tape, you can go back and look at this man, so it’s not like we don’t have anything to compare it to,” Jackson said. “You can go back and look, he’s always made gaffes, he’s always made missteps, but never like this. This is something different. These aren’t gaffes. … This is something much more serious.”

Jackson said that Biden’s mental fitness for office, or a lack thereof, “was on full display during the debacle in Afghanistan” and that it could “get more Americans killed” and “ultimately get us in a war because of his lack of leadership.”

Jackson also hit Biden in January after Biden’s widely criticized press conference, saying, “BIDEN JUST IGNORED A QUESTION ABOUT HIS COGNITIVE DECLINE! Something is WRONG with him.”

“This man IS NOT qualified to be President!!” Jackson added. “I am demanding he have a cognitive test NOW. There’s too much on the line, we need to know!”

“Biden’s ‘press conference’ is disturbing and bizarre,” Jackson added. “He’s totally disconnected from reality. He has NO IDEA what’s going on. It’s no surprise he’s been kept locked away in the basement. This is an EMBARRASSMENT.”
