it's a pronunciation issue that English has with Russian & Ukrainian. It's a "soft" -ie-, so it sounds continuous, but it's not. The -e- isn't a hard pronunciation. We pronounce it "Ki EV", and that isn't wrong. It's just how we say it.
Russians pronounce it the same, but with the soft -e- that doesn't sound like it exists to AmeriFats & BritBongs
How do I know this? Because my wife is Russian and I picked up the differences between English & Russian speech/vocab
