we've been lied to so entirely about everything our entire lives that we no longer have any choice, but to question everything. why are we doing this? why are we fighting and who and what are we fighting for? what kind of war is this?
in all severity and in a very real sense, we have to return to the mind of a child. with any fortune, the mind of a child is about innocence with rarely an ill intent. we are close to the source. and we view everything with a sense of divinity. the child knows the protector. some of us even become enamored with the idea of being a warrior… a knight, a jedi, a samurai. but as we get older we learn that knights and samurai were not as we imagined them but rather were lords or served lords who bullied peasants over land. we may become enamored with the idea of being a soldier. and then we find out that being a soldier usually means more about being muscle for the empire state than defending the Constitution.
the truth of being a warrior in the sense of budo is about the cultivation of our character and being a protector. it is a life of standing up for what is true and holy. about protecting those who cannot protect themselves, about strengthening the human condition and guarding freedom while driving out and eliminating evil; the predators… the wolves.
being a warrior is not about holding a ufc title or having a black belt or killing as many peasants as you can. it's far more about defending those peasants against their tyrannical oppressors. and yes as a warrior things get complicated, but a true warrior remains true to his compass.
we find the true spirit, the warrior spirit, in the minds and in the hearts of children. and this is why they crush the children. because if you crush the children they never grow up to be true warriors. a child knows what it truly means to be a warrior, but not many men get the chance to truly be one. there are a lot of war mongers but not many warriors.
how do we stop this from ever happening again? how do we not become the very thing we are set out to destroy? …by remembering what a warrior truly is, through the eyes of a child. we fight for the children. we fight for the future of humanity.
