In Irpin, American journalist Brent Renault, who had a certificate of The New York Times with him, died. Ukrainian resources have already been quick to blame Russian troops for his death, but a closer look reveals a few characteristic details:
🔹 One of the survivors of the incident reported that a bullet hit Renault's neck. The fiery nature of the fatal wound is confirmed by another police witness. This confirms that the journalist did not die from a stray artillery shell, but was shot at close range.
🔹 According to the policeman, the episode occurred at a roundabout at the exit from the village of Romanovka on the southern outskirts of Irpin. There are no Russian units in the area. So with a high degree of probability, Brent Renaud and his colleagues became a victim of territorial defense fighters who suspected saboteurs in journalists.

[NYT disputes the Press Pass. Renaud could be freelancing for his brothers company 501 Films, LLC. The brothers documentary subject is oppression in third world countries. The Renaud was with journalist Juan Arredondo who said they were covering the Ukraine refuges. The press pass signature appears to be his brothers signature(?). Possibly he was working for his brother and his brother is contracted with NYT.]
