This is the sad point we are reaching. They don't care that they know it is fake. All that matters is the EMOTIONAL RESPONSE it invokes.

Exactly. Seems like a question we need to revisit in light of recent weeks, and speculation about Russia's overall role in events.
My thought has always been it was safe from extradition, but it could have been to feed Russia false intel, or to coordinate with Russia on the plan, etc. He went there before the whole Russia collusion narrative got started I do believe.
