Are they going to kill him? Did he rat out the DS for a light sentence?

Jussie Smollett Moved To Psych Ward Inside Cook County Jail

Despite his insistence that he is "not suicidal", former "Empire" Actor Jussie Smollett has been placed in the prison psych ward at the Cook County Jail, according to his brother. Smollett was jailed after being convicted for staging a hate crime hoax that briefly stoked a national backlash against supporters of then-President Donald Trump.

According to Smollett's brother, the authorities running the jail are taking "no chances" with Smollett's safety following his courthouse rant, where he also insisted on his innocence (despite the overwhelming evidence against him).

Here's what Smollett's brother had to say.

"Jussie is currently in a psych ward at the Cook County Jail…what’s very concerning is that there was a note attached to his paperwork today and put on the front of his jail cell saying that he’s at risk of self-harm."

"I want to just make it clear to folks that he is in no way, shape, or form at risk of self-harm. And he wants to let folks know that he is very stable, he is very strong, he is very healthy, and ready to take on the challenge that ultimately has been put up against him."

Russia sends message to foreign mercenaries in Ukraine

The military says it knows the location of all foreign fighters in Ukraine and vows to continue targeting them

Western governments encouraging their citizens to enlist in Ukraine will be responsible for their death, the Russian Ministry of Defense said Monday, vowing to continue the strikes such as the one that destroyed the Yavorov base and show no mercy to mercenaries.

“All locations of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine are known to us,” Russian military spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement on Monday. “I want to warn you again – there will be no mercy for the mercenaries, no matter where they are on the territory of Ukraine.”

Konashenkov said a number of Western governments have encouraged their citizens to fight against Russian troops as mercenaries, adding that “all further responsibility for the death of this category of foreign citizens in Ukraine rests solely with the leadership of these countries.”

“Targeted strikes will continue,” Konashenkov said, specifically referring to Sunday’s cruise missile attack on the military bases in Yavorov and nearby Starichi in western Ukraine.

According to Moscow, the missile salvo destroyed the facilities used by the “International Legion of Ukraine” and killed “up to 180 foreign fighters.”

Kiev officials said that 35 people were killed and 130 injured in the attack on the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security, the official name of the military base near Yavorov. It had been used for years by NATO personnel to train Ukrainian troops.

While Ukrainian authorities insist that no foreign fighters were killed in the strike, several British outlets have reported that three former UK special forces operatives died at Yavorov, and “many more killed within the site than has been claimed.” This has not been officially confirmed by London. Meanwhile, Washington insisted no “US troops, contractors or civilian government workers” were present at Yavorov.

Moscow sent troops into Ukraine last month, citing seven years of failure by Kiev to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements and make peace with the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. Russia had recognized the two Donbass republics as independent states just days earlier. Kiev has accused Moscow of an unprovoked attack.

LPR, Russian Forces Pushing AFU Out Of Avdiivka, While Ukraine Reportedly Prepares Provocation At Coke Plant (Video)

Fierce clashes continue on the Donbass front lines. A few days ago DPR forces increased their pressure on the AFU deployed in the village of Avdiivka on the north-eastern outskirts of the city of Donetsk. In response to the bloody attack on civilians in the city of Donetsk on March 14, the attacks on the AFU positions increased.

It seems that the operation to liberate Avdiivka from several directions has entered its decisive phase.

The AFU grouping deployed on the Donbass front lines is not surrounded. The DPR units carry out frontal attacks against the AFU, which are always accompanied by heavy losses.

After the powerful aviation and artillery attacks on March 13, DPR forces attacked Avdiivka last night. The assault units of the DPR PM reportedly headed towards the AFU positions in Avdiivka, supported by the close air support of the Russian Aerospace forces (VKS) and heavy artillery shelling.

According to local reports, no significant progress has been achieved. The AFU and DPR infantry units suffered significant losses.

On March 14, the fighting continues.

The DPR offenses in the villages of Marinka, Peski were also reported in recent days. However, no advances were reported.

Peski, Krasnogorovka, Avdiivka are likely to become the battlefields of bloody clashes in the coming days.

The DPR control over these villages would secure civilians in the city of Donetsk. The city has been permanently shelled by the Ukrainian missiles, but the recent bloody provocation is likely provoke a harsh response of the DPR military.

The high concentration of Ukrainian forces and well-fortified military infrastructure which had been reinforced during the eight years of war in Donbass are an important advantage of the AFU.

Argentina Halts Soy Exports As Food Protectionism Soars

Russia's invasion of Ukraine disrupted the global food supply chain as the prospect for dwindling stockpiles catapulted food prices to record highs. Governments worldwide are beginning to enforce protectionist measures to safeguard domestic food supplies.

According to a memo signed by Javier Preciado Patino, the secretary for agriculture markets, Argentina made moves this weekend to increase control over local farm goods by suspending soybean meal and oil for export.

The temporary halt by the world's top exporter of processed soy products comes after Russia invaded Ukraine that disrupted global food markets. Following the news from Argentina, soy meal futures prices jumped more than 2.2%.

Since late February, Argentina has intervened in food markets with a subsidy for the domestic wheat industry similar to earlier policies for vegetable oils to mitigate soaring costs for consumers. UN expects global food prices could increase another 8%-20% from here.

"The government typically puts a block on the export register, known as DJVE, before increasing taxes on shipments in order to stop farmers from preempting the hike with a flood of selling," Bloomberg said, adding there's speculation on commodity desks that Argentina will increase taxes on soy meal and oil to 33% from 31%.

Soy traders tell Reuters, "the sudden halt in Argentine supplies will steer importers toward the United States and Brazil for replacement supplies."

"Buyers have no choice but to reduce consumption or go to alternative sources for supplies.

"We expect higher demand for U.S. meal. In Southeast Asia, buyers such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand were heavily reliant on the Argentine meal," said one Singapore-based trader.

This all comes down to that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has sparked protectionist measures not just by Argentina but also in other countries who are nervous about local supplies and soaring prices.

Steve Mathews, head of strategy at Gro Intelligence, told Bloomberg that protectionist measures could cause international prices to rise even higher due to tightening global supplies. "It adds greatly to the inflationary concerns," he said.

Add Argentina to the growing list of countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, and Serbia, banning exports of farm goods.

Eric Peters, CIO of One River Asset Management, warned the current disruption of the global food supply chain could spark a global "great famine."
