No I don't take it all literal, Jesus said all these things are done in Parable so some although ever seeing never perceive.
You don't seem to understand what it means that God can separate Spirit from Soul, and that Jesus came to bring a sword.

Peter is not the rock, Peter is stone, and no stone will be left on top of another.
Jesus told Peter the gates of hell will not prevail.

Most importantly, pray and ask for truth and trust in Him to give it to you. Don't be afraid to think about something because it's not what the preachers or others have taught in His name. He warned about them. Trust in Him, not those who try to insert themselves between you and Him.
