live in a city? go to local coin shops, pawn shops, jewelers, anyone who buys gold and silver. they buy LOTS of "junk" silver coins (pre-1965 US dimes, quarters, halves) that are so worn down they have no value to coin collectors. the turn around and sell them BELOW spot to a large central business that repackages them for silver buyers. cut out the middle man and buy directly from the local shops and you will get the best price. "junk" US coinage is 90% silver, so calculate the value accordingly. because they are US coins, people will trust they are real silver, and they are in sizes convenient for barter for goods.
