re: all the jobs lost by canceling Roseanne's show.
Why the fuck didn't Iger just say he's replacing Roseanne?
Generally if someone fucks up their ass gets canned, not the entire company. I'm going to guess there were a bunch of people (writers, technicians, etc. who thought they were the reason for good ratings) who now got the message; Roseanne was the key to the show, not you. She can still go anywhere and get other writers and techs a job.
Secondly, sounds like someone told Iger to jump and Iger asked "how high?". Whomever told Iger to jump was the one who got those people fired.
Thinking of the Duck Dynasty dust up with homosexuals; the management 'suspended' the star for a show or two (or something like that). Something similar would have been the wisest decision wrt to jobs, wouldn't it?. Sounds like Iger had a gun to his head on this decision, so I don't think pinning all the firings on Roseanne is warranted.
Anyhow, the second message for those political activists in the guild looks as such; Those people you're advocating for don't give a shit about your job.
Double whammy.
The triple whammy, then, is having the their former president (VJ) dragged out from behind the curtain for all to scrutinize.
