Audit finds New York's health department under Andrew Cuomo 'misled the public,' undercounted at least 4,100 COVID nursing home deaths

Under former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the state's health agency undercounted at least 4,100 COVID-related nursing home deaths, according to a state audit. The audit conducted by state comptroller Thomas DiNapoli claimed that the Department of Health "misled the public" about nursing home deaths during the pandemic to fit a "narrative."

The 58-page report said the New York Department of Health "was not transparent in its reporting of COVID-19 deaths at nursing homes."

"While the Department’s duty is to act solely to promote public health, we determined that, rather than providing accurate and reliable information during a public health emergency, the Department instead conformed its presentation to the Executive’s narrative, often presenting data in a manner that misled the public," the report stated.

"Whether due to the poor-quality data that it was collecting initially or, later, a deliberate decision, for certain periods during the pandemic, the Department understated the number of deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50%," the report declared.

Nearly 14,000 people died in nursing homes due to COVID-19 between March 2020 and May 2021, according to the audit.

The report also stated, "Persistent underinvestment in public health over the last decade may have limited the Department’s ability to prepare and respond in the most effective way."

DiNapoli said in a statement, "The pandemic was devastating and deadly for New Yorkers living in nursing homes. Families have a right to know if their loved one’s COVID-19 death was counted, but many still don’t have answers from the state Department of Health."

"Our audit findings are extremely troubling," DiNapoli said. "The public was misled by those at the highest level of state government through distortion and suppression of the facts when New Yorkers deserved the truth."

The report found that the New York Department of Health failed to meet federal directives to inspect for infection control problems, reporting on only 20% of facilities between March and May 2020 – compared to over 90% for other states.

Cuomo's spokesperson – Rich Azzopardi – tried to discredit the audit.

"As the number of out of facility deaths were reported last January this is not news, however what is peculiar is the Comptroller's release of this audit now — but no one has ever accused him of being above politics," Azzopardi said.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James said the audit supported her own January 2021 investigation into allegations of the Cuomo administration undercounting COVID nursing home deaths.

15 Media Personalities Claimed Hunter’s Laptop Emails Were Likely Russian Propaganda Before New York Times Admitted

Fifteen establishment media personalities claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop emails were likely Russian propaganda before the New York Times admitted it Wednesday.

After nearly two years of dismissing Hunter’s tantalizing emails uncovered before the 2020 presidential election, the Times admitted the laptop was authentic, in direct contradiction of many in the Democrat-allied media.

The media personalities seemingly went out of their way to connect Russian dots of “disinformation” that did not exist for the purpose of supporting the Democrat nominee for president, Joe Biden, the father of Hunter and who now oversees the Justice Department’s investigation into Hunter’s possible tax fraud and corrupt business dealings with foreign entities.

Those business dealings reportedly took place throughout the world and may have involved Joe Biden himself. Such was the media’s necessity to dub the emails “Russian disinformation” instead of asking journalistic questions like Emma Joe Morris, who now is Breitbart News’s political editor and author of the original “laptop from hell” story from the New York Post.

Those who simply dismissed Hunter’s emails as likely Russian disinformation, which were first authenticated by Morris, are below:

1.) MSNBC’s executive producer Kyle Griffin

The Trump campaign claims Facebook is “censoring journalism” because Facebook plans to limit the spread of the NY Post report. That is not censorship. Facebook is under no obligation to allow a disputed report that appears to contain disinformation to spread on their platform.

2.) Publisher of the Ink Anand Giridharadas

Today’s New York Post is a reminder that this James Murdock media redemption tour is happening too soon, too unaccountably, without real atonement and compensation for the tens of millions of victims of years of disinformation, and no serious journalist should fall for it.

3.) Daily Beast reporter Wajahat Ali

Good. Russian disinformation meant to harm our democracy shouldn’t be given mainstream platforms.

4.) Managing cditor of Truthorfiction.com Brooke Binkowski

The great thing about this is that it’s very easy to see who is committed to pushing known Kremlin disinformation

5.) NBC News correspondent Heidi Przybyla

Wikileaks were “hacked materials” & part of a Russian disinformation campaign. It became egg on every media that ran breathlessly with it.

6.) Writer Chip Franklin

Raise your hand if you appreciate Twitter for censoring the BS anti-Biden disinformation article from the New York post

7.) MSNBC contributor Ben Rhodes

The right to spread false Russian disinformation about American political leaders on social media platforms is not the hill I would choose to die on.

8.) Washington Post opinion columnist Max Boot

The @nypost story about Hunter Biden is false–and quite possibly part of a Russian disinformation campaign. The Ukrainian prosecutor wasn’t actually investigating Burisma. He was, in fact, complicit in corruption—which is why Biden demanded he be fired.

9.) MSNBC’s Naveed Jamali

As a former double agent I know foreign intelligence services will “wash” their involvement in disinformation operations. My spidey sense are tingling on this one.

10.) Mother Jones Publication

Giuliani and the New York Post are pushing Russian disinformation. It’s a big test for the media.

Watch: Senate Democrats Claimed in 2020 Hunter’s Authenticated Laptop Was ‘Debunked,’ ‘Anti-Biden Propaganda Campaign’

Democrat senators claimed before the 2020 presidential election that Hunter Biden’s authenticated laptop was a “debunked” “anti-Biden propaganda campaign” waged by Russia.

Speaking with Senate Foreign Relations Committee member Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), CNN anchor Jim Sciutto asked why he believes Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation that was constructed by a “Kremlin contacted, anti-Biden propaganda campaign.”

“So the very fact that these emails come into the pubic sphere by Rudy Giuliani… tells you when they are coming from,” the Senator tried to support his wild theory. “At some point, you kind of have to believe what you see, which is that when individuals are either identified Russian agents or are conspiring with Russian agents are providing the information upon which the mainstream media are reporting, you have to understand what the deal is here.”

“I’m not alone here,” Murphy continued. “Fifty high-level intelligence agents… came out and said this is most likely Russian propaganda.”

But Murphy’s comments were perhaps intentionally misleading. Though Politico published a title, “Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say,” the intel agents did not say so unquestionably. The intel letter that Politico reported actually said:

We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement — just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) doubled down October 15, 2020, on Fox News, calling reports of Hunter’s “laptop from hell” “unreliable” and “debunked.” Coons added he “is glad” Twitter censored the New York Post’s original reporting of the laptop.

Flashback: Filthy Liar Joe Biden Said Hunter Biden’s Laptop Story was a “Russian Plant” During Presidential Debate

In 2020 at the second United States presidential debate, Joe Biden lied to the American people and said the Hunter Biden laptop story was a “Russian plant.”

Joe Biden: Look, there are 50 former national intelligence folks who said what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plant. The have said, five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage. Nobody believes him except him and his good friend Rudy Giuliani.

Joe Biden knew this was a lie. Joe Biden knew Hunter was working for his father cutting deals around the world in million dollar pay-for-play schemes.

Today the fake news New York Times finally admitted the laptop was authentic.

These are really, really bad people.

They lie to you everyday and wake up to do it all again tomorrow.

Cheerleader of NATO wars spotted in Ukraine

Bernard-Henri Levy’s presence in Odessa should give pause to those who still believe NATO is not involved in Ukraine

French intellectual and philosopher, Bernard-Henri Lévy (commonly referred to as “BHL”), has an odd propensity for appearing alongside western proxy fighters in war zones. And new reports now place him on the ground amid the conflict in Ukraine.

The day after the February 24 launch of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, France 2, the main state-owned television network, hosted a debate featuring, on one side, former prime minister Dominique de Villepin, perhaps best known worldwide for his role during the run up to the Iraq war in 2003. Back then, he served as the foreign minister and represented France’s opposition to the American efforts under then president Jacques Chirac at the United Nations Security Council.

After then US Secretary of State Colin Powell made his now infamous speech imploring the international community to back an invasion of Iraq to prevent Saddam Hussein’s use of weapons of mass destruction, De Villepin argued in favor of inspections.

“Given this context, the use of force is not justified at this time. There is an alternative to war: Disarming Iraq via inspections. Moreover, premature recourse to the military option would be fraught with risks,” he said.

History has now proven him correct in his assessment.

De Villepin’s call for prudence and avoidance of military escalation in Ukraine was loaded with historical lessons learned. “Military interventions never yield the expected results,” recalled the former French prime minister. “History has taught us this in Libya, Iraq and the Sahel.”

On the other side of the France 2 debate table was BHL, who has a rather interesting relationship to some of the conflicts evoked by De Villepin. “[Russian President Vladimir Putin] launched this crazy war, without reason, against a people who had done nothing to him,” replied the philosopher.

It seems that in BHL’s world, wars start like magic with a need to protect completely innocent parties that just happen to be on NATO’s side, and not because of covert shenanigans that predate them — something that BHL should certainly know about.

During the NATO-backed war in Yugoslavia — the war in Europe that those commenting on the current situation in Ukraine seem to forget — BHL, who just happened to be hanging out in the region, overtly backed the NATO proxy, then Bosnian president Alija Izetbegović, who, his opponents believed, was a Muslim fundmentalist. Izetbegović was allegedly used by western forces to helm Islamist fighters against Serbia and ultimately carve out a zone of influence and military control in the Balkans. Later, in a 2019 tweet, BHL referred to the al-Qaeda-linked Izetbegović as “one of the great, luminous figures of the 20th century.”
