The Biological Threat Reduction Program was originally related to the breakdown of the old Soviet Union (look at the lab locations) and the number of labs and "biological weapons experts" in those labs and what they might do if the labs were closed. "Freelance bio weapons work" was the concern at the time I believe.

Maybe it was originally a good idea, or maybe it was a deliberate plan to take them over and use them to create more bio weapons to threaten Russia later. Anons can decide.

That was many years ago and in this anon's opinion the program has at most become a threat and at least a huge budgetary drain that should have been ended years ago. The original researchers could by now have retired and receiving some sort of financial support/pension that would cost a lot less than the millions/billions of dollars wasted on it now and the labs and pathogens destroyed.

DOD "Biological weapons" research is a huge black hole of funding and involves apparently endless efforts to search for potentially dangerous biological agents and generate funds to research them to find potential "vaccines" in the name of public health. Essentially its just another govt boondoggle.
