in that scenario you describe I think Putin would call on all citizens to rally to save their mother land and their people. He would say this is a moment of life or death for the future of their country and future generations. He would stand firm in the homelands service to God and would declare a separation from Rome and call the pope a false prophet. He would call on the existing religious leaders in country to reform the church in Russia and declare total independence for his people. He would authorize some sort of religious national holiday to memorialize and celebrate this new independence and signify the renewed strength of the Russian people and their undeniable future to rebuild their nation and live in peace and unity.
