I think they are probably just vetting extremely carefully, trying to keep shills and bots off the platform. The influencers you mention were the ones deplatformed from the social media sites for questioning the narrative and spreading truth and such. Vetting those people would be much easier to do at first and they already have established themselves as reliable sources of info. Everyone else is going to take more time to look at, IMO.
