Innocence or ignorance? Why do some cultures lie to their children and keep them ignorant to the realities of life and death for as long as possible? What does it benefit a person to be kept in ignorance, unaware of the killing needed to eat, the labor needed to prosper, thinking the stork drops newborns off and that Santa is reading their minds before decending the chimney?
Why do some cultures produce women who live in fantasyland demanding their white knight earn them ever larger castles, and ever bigger diamond rings? Did the purity bubble they were raised in help them attract a richer, more powerful mate, than their "slutty" sisters? Why do some religions worship virginity as an ideological imperative? Is virgin worship healthy or corrupting when its tied to wealth and status?
Cast all the hate you want, but think about the hypocrisy of a culture that demands Truth while insisting their children be lied to constantly by everyone…"to protect them" from the Truth.
