What they did was so terrible that the people couldn't grasp it without realizing their own government was their enemy. And since they had the power to control the narrative, and to pull us into war in the Middle East, most of us didn't grasp it.
It's interesting because they are kind of scapegoating Israel in that sense – because they could have easily had domestic resources do it.
