Days after I watched the towers fall from my bedroom window, after my fdny uncle showed up safe and sound, after the pit finally started to cool…
There was a massive thunderstorm over Manhattan. Lightning flared over ground zero. And in the flashes, nothing showed. No shape, no outline. They were fully gone.
I don't care who. Really, I don't. Lost friends, would have been there myself had another job not lured me away from lower Manhattan.
What I want to know is why. Why did this seem like an acceptable thing to do. Why did we roll over and play dead afterwards, as New Yorkers. Accepting Bloomberg was a major mistake.

Forget the who. We can deal with that later. Just tell me why.
