Head of Ukraine military med service says the order was given to castrate Russian POWs because they are cockroaches

Many of the comments on Twitter are either applauding this or at least justifying it on the grounds that the Russians are the aggressors. Never mind that it’s inhumane and violates many international agreements, including the Geneva Convention.

The west has lost more than its collective sanity.

New FBI documents link Saudi spy in California to 9/11 attacks - Mike Kelly

Soon after the 9/11 attacks two decades ago, the FBI quietly launched an investigation into a seemingly obscure Saudi Arabian government bureaucrat in Southern California.

The man claimed to be nothing more than a Saudi aviation official who innocently happened to befriend two Islamic jihadists in the months before they carried out the 9/11 attacks.

That story now appears to be false. The alleged aviation official was really a Saudi spy who reported directly to a Saudi prince who happened to be the kingdom’s influential ambassador in Washington and a close friend of President George W. Bush and other top U.S. government officials.

The FBI concluded five years ago that there was a "50/50 chance" that this Saudi spy knew ahead of time that the two Islamists he befriended were about to join the plot to hijack commercial jetliners and crash them into buildings in what turned out to be America's deadliest terrorist attack. But the FBI refused to go public with its findings — until now.

The story of the spy and the ambassador-prince emerged in recent days as the centerpiece of a startling series of revelations in a newly declassified FBI report that could shed light on a perplexing mystery that has long shadowed the 9/11 investigation:

Did Saudi government officials play a role in America’s deadliest terror attack?

If so, what sort of role?

And who else was involved?

While heavily redacted, the report offers the most direct link yet between the Saudi government, its secretive royal family and the team of 19 operatives of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda terror network who hijacked four jetliners on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. The terrorists crashed two jetliners into New York’s World Trade Center, another into the Pentagon in Northern Virginia and a fourth, which was reportedly headed to the U.S. Capitol, into a farm field in Pennsylvania.

Nearly 3,000 people died in that mass murder-suicide scheme. But for two decades, a major question has shadowed the inquiry into how a band of 19 Islamic extremists pulled it off: Did the Saudi government offer assistance to the terrorists?

Pics: US spec ops vets rescue hundreds of orphans in Ukraine

A group of U.S. military special operations veterans and other volunteers have rescued hundreds of orphaned children in Ukraine in a private mission called Ukraine Orphan Rescue.

Aerial Recovery Group, a global emergency management nonprofit based in Nashville, Tennessee, has rescued 218 Ukrainian children amid the Russian invasion so far and transported them to a “safe haven established in the West of Ukraine.” The mission is expected to take at least 30 days, but it will more likely last 90 days to six months.

The organization told American Military News that while the initial plan was to transport the children to safety in the neighboring nation of Poland, security concerns related to human trafficking forced the volunteers to adapt their mission.

“We are no longer, nor did we ever, take kids out of Ukraine. Originally, that was the thought but after realizing the concerns for human trafficking and removing the kids from their home country, we have established a safe haven within Ukraine to provide shelter, food, basic necessities, and safeguarding for the kids,” Aerial Recovery Group said.

Russia terminates peace treaty talks with Japan — Foreign Ministry

Earlier, Japan introduced several packages of sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine

Moscow is terminating peace treaty talks with Tokyo in the light of Japan’s newly-introduced unilateral restrictions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"In the light of the outspokenly unfriendly nature of Japan’s unilateral restrictions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine the following measures are to be taken. In the current situation the Russian side has no intention of continuing peace treaty talks with Japan, for it is impossible to discuss the signing of a fundamental treaty in bilateral relations with a country that takes an outspokenly unfriendly stance and tries to cause harm to the interests of our country," the Foreign Ministry said.

It stated that a decision had been made to terminate visa-free trips by Japanese citizens on the basis of agreements on visa-free exchanges between Russia’s South Kuril Islands and Japan of 1991 and the 1999 agreement on simple travel rules for those Japanese who would like to visit their former places of residence on the islands. Russia is quitting the dialogue with Japan on joint economic activity on the South Kuril Islands and blocks the prolongation of Japan’s status of a sectoral dialogue partner of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

"All responsibility for harm to bilateral relations and to the interests of Japan itself rests upon Tokyo, which has consciously made its choice in favor of an anti-Russian policy instead of developing mutually beneficial cooperation and neighborliness," the Foreign Ministry said.

Japan’s sanctions against Russia

Japan earlier introduced several packages of sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine. A total of 300 product titles have been prohibited from export to Russia, including semiconductors, equipment for shipping and aviation safety, means of communication, military products, including weapons, software and oil refining equipment. Such restrictions apply to 49 companies and organizations in Russia, including Rosoboronexport, Rostech, the federal security service FSB and foreign intelligence service SVR.

Japan has frozen the assets of several banks: Otkrytie, Novikombank, Sovcombank, VTB, Rossiya Bank, Promsvyazbank and VEB.RF. Also, personal restrictions were imposed on the Russian leadership, including President Vladimir Putin and a number of Russian businessmen.

Polish authorities seek to confiscate Russian property, assets — Prime Minister

Polish authorities plan to have a meeting with the opposition, during which they will raise a question on how to freeze and confiscate Russian property in the country, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said

The government of Poland intend to confiscate Russian property and assets in the republic, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in an interview Sunday.

According to the Prime Minister, Polish authorities plan to have a meeting with the opposition Monday, during which they will "raise a question on how to freeze and confiscate Russian property in the country."

"We have a bit of such property. On the one hand, there are constitutional restrictions for such actions, connected to the right of property; on the other hand, more and more Polish people fail to understand why we can’t have such action in our country, if the Italians confiscate yachts of Russian oligarchs," Morawiecki said.

"We want to take it thought the Sejm [the lower house of the parliament - TASS], and we decided that the opposition must be involved in this process," he explained.

He underscored that, although there are no Russian yachts in Poland, "there is some real estate and financial assets, shares of companies."

"In any case, our authority camp firmly supports this," the Prime Minister said.

Georgia ballot harvesting probe advances as state elections board approves subpoena

Action allows Secretary of State investigators to compel testimony, delivery of evidence.

The Georgia Elections Board has approved a subpoena to secure evidence and testimony in an ongoing investigation into whether third-party liberal activists illegally gathered thousands of absentee ballots in the 2020 general election and a subsequent runoff that determined Democrat control of the U.S. Senate.

The vote was a major win for Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who announced the investigation into alleged ballot harvesting in January and was seeking the subpoena authority to assist the probe.

The subpoena power will allow Raffensperger's team to secure evidence about a whistleblower who alleged to an election integrity group that he participated in a large operation to gather ballots in which activists were paid $10 for each ballot they delivered.

Georgia law expressly prohibits third parties from collecting, gathering or delivering absentee ballots, except in the case of immediate relatives.

A vote on the subpoena was delayed by weeks as the Elections Board could not decide on a new chairman. But at a meeting last week, the board unanimously chose member Matthew Mashburn to be acting chairman.

The board then voted out the subpoena in a closed session, according to audio of the meeting reviewed by Just the News.

"All the board members are here," Mashburn said after emerging from the closed-door session. "A quorum is in order. We went into executive session for purposes of discussing pending and potential litigation and for the board to authorize subpoenas in case no. 2020-10-Dougherty County and 2022-003 ballot harvesting."

Officials said the new subpoena powers will be used by Raffensperger's office to secure evidence from the election integrity group True the Vote, which filed a complaint in November saying it had acquired videotapes, a whistleblower's admission and cell phone location records showing what appeared to be a widespread ballot harvesting operation in the November 2020 general election and January 2021 election runoff.

The group's complaint said surveillance camera footage showed ballot traffickers delivering stacks of ballots to drop boxes between midnight and 5 a.m. and cell phone records showed as many as 240 activists made such deliveries.

The group said a cooperating whistleblower to whom it granted John Doe anonymity admitted he was paid $10 for each ballot he collected and delivered and that scores of others were involved in the operation.

"John Doe described a network of non-governmental organizations that worked together to facilitate a ballot trafficking scheme in Georgia," True the Vote wrote in its complaint. "John Doe claimed to have been one of many individuals paid to collect and deliver absentee ballots during the early voting periods of the November 2020 General Election and the January 2021 Runoff Election."

Lebanon Arrests Brother of Central Bank Governor for Financial Crimes

Lebanon Arrests Brother of Central Bank Governor for Financial Crimes

Print article

Published: 18 March 2022

Written by Lara Dihmis

Lebanese authorities arrested on Thursday the brother of the country’s embattled central bank governor on charges of money laundering and illicit enrichment, according to the state-run National News Agency.

Raja Salame, whose brother Riad has run the central bank for nearly three decades, was interrogated by Judge Ghada Aoun for several hours prior to his arrest that followed a legal complaint brought by a group of Lebanese lawyers who accused him of corruption.

The move comes amid ongoing money laundering and embezzlement probes into Raja’s brother Riad in a number of European countries, including in France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Luxembourg. Two months ago the same judge issued a travel ban against Riad.

Companies and offshore activity relating to Salame, his family and associates identified by two investigations carried out by OCCRP and its Lebanese media partner, Daraj, are among those under scrutiny in those countries.

The first investigation, published in August 2020, uncovered how offshore companies owned by Salame have invested in overseas assets worth nearly US$100 million. The same investigation revealed Raja Salame’s ties to the British Virgin Islands-registered Forry Associates Ltd.

Central Bank payments of over $330 million made to Forry between 2002 and 2014 are reportedly at the center of the Swiss probe into the Central Bank and Salame, launched in early 2021.

The second OCCRP-Daraj investigation, published in December 2020, revealed how a company tied to Salame bought a stake in his son’s London-based wealth management company, before selling it to a major Lebanese bank that he regulates.

Riad Salame has reportedly failed to show up to three hearings in Lebanon. Last month, after state security officers were sent to look for the governor following a subpoena issued by Judge Aoun, local and regional media reported that Salame was “on the run.”

He was later reported to have been working from home.

Salame has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and has attributed his wealth to his commercial banking career before joining the central bank, and family inheritances.

Professor: Hate inflation? Take the bus, don’t eat meat, cut back on pet care

An economics professor has a solution for the little people dealing with the country’s inflationary woes: Use mass transportation, eat more veggies instead of meat, and cut back on unnecessary care for your pets.

In a Bloomberg.com op-ed, the New School’s Teresa Ghilarducci says these tips are a good idea for anyone making less than … $280,000 per year.

“To deal with gas prices, it’s worth reconsidering public transportation if it’s an option where you live,” Ghilarducci says. After all, mass transport fares are up only 8 percent compared to 38 percent for gasoline.

And don’t think about getting a new car; prices for brand new vehicle are up 12 percent, while those for used cars have skyrocketed 40 percent.

And “when it comes to food,” the professor says, “don’t be afraid to explore.” This means going for “tasty meat substitutes” such as veggies, lentils and/or beans as meat prices have shot up 14 percent. “Plan to cut out the middle creature and consume plants directly. It’s a more efficient, healthier and cheaper way to get calories,” Ghilarducci adds.

Grassley: White House Covering Up 48,000 Documents on SCOTUS Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson

Senate confirmation hearings for Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson began Monday morning.

Senate Judiciary ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Monday revealed the White House is covering up 48,000 documents on Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Grassley expressed his disappointment for being unable to obtain Judge Jackson’s documents from her time as the Vice Chair of the US Sentencing Commission that are required to be released.

Democrats are stonewalling GOP efforts to obtain Jackson’s documents.

“The Obama White House sent us roughly 68,000 pages of material, but more than 38,000 of the 68,000 pages are repeated copies…” Grassley said.

He added, “The White House has still withheld 48,000 pages under the presidential records and FOIA exemption — now that’s a lot of hiding.”

Russia Is Systematically Destroying NATO Sites IN UKRAINE

I will admit upfront that I had no idea how extensive NATO’s presence in Ukraine was until this week. I just had not paid attention. But Russia’s blistering attacks on Yavoriv, Delyatyn, Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr have caught my eye. If you are not paying attention you should.

My most recent article, Russia Exploits Ukraine’s Western Flank, should have been titled, Russia Exposes NATO’s Impotence. That piece addressed the attacks on Yavoriv and Delyatyn. My curiosity is fully piqued and I am now searching the internet for U.S. and NATO documents describing their activities at those sights.

Have you heard about Zhytomyr? Did you know that NATO carried out cybersecurity training for Ukraine at Zhytomyr in September 2018 and described Ukraine as a “NATO PARTNER.”

As part of the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme for Ukraine, experts from allied countries visited the Serhiy Korolylov Zhytomyr Military Institute (ZMI) from 24 to 28 September, 2018 to assist with the development of a new course on cybersecurity. Ukraine is one of the first NATO partners (together with Tunisia) to develop such a course.

The experts provided working examples of cybersecurity education in a military institute context (Canadian, Polish and Irish military academies), facilitated through the adaptation of the Generic Reference Curriculum on Cybersecurity. They also demonstrated a step-by-step process to develop a customized course for a specific national context. This included a walk through of syllabus development, and a presentation of detailed lesson plans and laboratory exercises. The exercise involved cyber operations, both defensive and offensive, in support of an overarching military mission scenario.

NATO was training Ukraine for “offensive” cyber operations. Russia did not have to task any intelligence operatives to find this out. All they needed was someone capable of doing a Google search. This is not an imaginary Russian fear. This is real. It is detailed at the link in NATO’s own words.

The Ukrainian base at Myolaiv also was hit yesterday (Saturday):

Twitter suspends account of female swimmer who said 'biological male' Lia Thomas 'stole' her finals spot

In a controversial move Monday, Twitter suspended the account operated by Virginia Tech University swimmer Reka Gyorgy, who only hours earlier had called for fans and fellow swimmers to boycott future competitions over the NCAA's decision to allow transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas to compete.

What are the details?

The suspension followed a tweet issued by Gyogry on Sunday in which the decorated collegiate swimmer complained that her slot in the NCAA finals had been "stolen" from her by Thomas, whom she accurately described as a "biological male."

"My finals spot was stolen by Lia Thomas, who is a biological male," Gyorgy wrote, adding, "Until we all refuse to compete nothing will change. Thanks for all the support retweets and follows I won't stop fighting."

As of early Monday afternoon, Gyorgy's account had been suspended.

Russia ‘Exploring Options’ For Massive Cyberattacks Against US: Biden

President Joe Biden on Monday issued a warning that the Russian government is preparing widespread cyberattacks against the United States.

Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin would be responding to the Administration’s crippling sanctions amid Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

“I have previously warned about the potential that Russia could conduct malicious cyber activity against the United States,” Pres. Biden said in a statement, “including as a response to the unprecedented economic costs we’ve imposed on Russia alongside our allies and partners. It’s part of Russia’s playbook. Today, my Administration is reiterating those warnings based on evolving intelligence that the Russian Government is exploring options for potential cyberattacks.”

“From day one, my Administration has worked to strengthen our national cyber defenses, mandating extensive cybersecurity measures for the Federal Government and those critical infrastructure sectors where we have authority to do so, and creating innovative public-private partnerships and initiatives to enhance cybersecurity across all our critical infrastructure. Congress has partnered with us on these efforts — we appreciate that Members of Congress worked across the aisle to require companies to report cyber incidents to the United States Government.”

“My Administration will continue to use every tool to deter, disrupt, and if My Administration will continue to use every tool to deter, disrupt, and if necessary, respond to cyberattacks against critical infrastructure. But the Federal Government can’t defend against this threat alone. Most of America’s critical infrastructure is owned and operated by the private sector and critical infrastructure owners and operators must accelerate efforts to lock their digital doors. The Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has been actively working with organizations across critical infrastructure to rapidly share information and mitigation guidance to help protect their systems and networks.”

“If you have not already done so, I urge our private sector partners to harden your cyber defenses immediately by implementing the best practices we have developed together over the last year. You have the power, the capacity, and the responsibility to strengthen the cybersecurity and resilience of the critical services and technologies on which Americans rely. We need everyone to do their part to meet one of the defining threats of our time — your vigilance and urgency today can prevent or mitigate attacks tomorrow.”

EU approves common defense plan

While it will create an EU fighting force, it falls short of the army some European leaders dream of building

On Monday, the European Union approved Strategic Compass – a bloc-wide common defense strategy that will create an EU deployment force of 5,000 troops. While such a move is a historic first for the bloc, it is substantially more modest than the EU army proposed by France’s Emmanuel Macron.

The “European Union just approved Strategic Compass,” Latvian FM Edgars Rinkēvičs announced, following a meeting of European defense and foreign ministers in Brussels earlier in the day. The plan provides a “necessary toolbox for the EU to become a real geopolitical defense and security player together with NATO,” he said, and is only the “beginning of the journey” for the bloc’s military future.

The plan itself has been around since 2020, when it was proposed by the European Council. Since then it has been criticized by those Eastern European countries that prefer to rely on NATO and its US muscle for their defense needs, and by commentators in neutral Ireland, who sought assurances that only peacekeeping missions be undertaken by the bloc, and that the UN be given a central role in decision-making.

However, the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine has hastened the plan’s adoption. In its current form, Strategic Compass is aimed at improving cooperation between existing European militaries, boosting cooperation with NATO, consolidating cyber-defense capabilities, and facilitating joint investment in research and development.

However, it also facilitates the creation of a 5,000-strong “rapid deployment capacity” of EU troops, marking the first step taken by the bloc toward creating a common military. This step toward militarization is significant, especially as it comes less than a month after the European Commission announced it would supply Ukraine with €450 million ($497 million) worth of arms and ammunition.

A strategic assessment by the EU identified “regional instability, conflict, state fragility, inter-state tensions, external influences, [and the] destabilising impact of non-state actors” as reasons for drafting the plan, suggesting that the bloc may, at some point and in some capacity, intervene in future conflicts akin to the one in Ukraine.

Doing so would be an unprecedented step for the union, but Strategic Compass still falls short of the united military some leaders support. Macron has long been a proponent of creating an EU army and lessening the bloc’s dependence on NATO, an alliance he called “brain dead” back in 2019.

Macron renewed his push for an EU fighting force independent of NATO earlier this month, stating that the conflict in Ukraine had “changed the era” for the European Union. However, the Eastern Europeans are still content to rely on NATO for their defense needs, with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Glinski telling The Telegraph on Saturday that the EU was not ready for conflict, and that Macron’s comments risk “destabilizing Europe.”
