Wayne Pankratz, of the American Franchise Capital, which owns 50 Applebee's in the Midwest, allegedly called on the company to take advantage of workers
According to a leaked email, Pankratz celebrated gas prices hitting an all-time high this month and inflation hitting 40-year records
He allegedly said the blow to Americans could be used to hire people at lower wages and force them to schedule their lives around their Applebee's jobs
The email also shows Pankratz boasting that competitors were also economically hurt, leaving Applebee's with more applicants to exploit
An American Franchise Capital spokesperson condemned the leaked email and said Pankratz does not have the authority to make such changes
Three managers at an Applebee's in Kansas have quit in protest of the emails
The leak has stirred outrage on social media with many blasting the company for Pankratz alleged ideas of taking advantage of struggling workers
