All Russia has to do is sell oil at a discount if it is paid with physical gold.
Everyone will flock to buy gold and use it to get cheap oil.
COMEX will default. US oil industry will implode at the low price of oil.
Game over.
You can't eat gold, you can't heat your house with it.
Russia gets gold that makes up for all the useless sanctions.
What we are watching is the intentional controlled suicide of the petrodollar.
