I don't believe the Donbass/Ukraine situation has ever been correctly reported by any media. I also do not know that Lugansk & Donetsk States declared their independence in 2014 (If an anon has evidence that they did please provide). Bad shit started happening in late 2013. In Nov. there was a video of a member of the Rada speaking on the Rada floor that there was a movement to attack Donbass and Crimea. Note: There was also evidence that the U.S. had sent out bids on contracts for major work on the naval station in Sevastopol which is Russia's only warm water seaport (at the time Ukraine Navy shared some space at the Russia base). The Nuland led Azov battalion in the Ukraine army was wrecking havoc and death all over Donbass and other areas. Burned down a state building in Odessa with dozens of protesters inside. They were getting ready to go into Crimea. That's when Putin acted. He called for a 24 hour poll of the Crimean people. The next day he got the results and immediately sent a couple high military officers to Sevastopol.
The high ranked officers staffed at the Russia naval station, with the couple higher-ups from Moscow, called a meeting with the high ranked officers from the Ukraine navy. Told them Crimea was now a part of Russia and gave them and their sailors a choice: Free and protect passage out of Crimea to Ukraine or they could become Russian citizens. Approximately 80% of the Ukrainians became Russian sailors that day.
Kiev began sending heavy military vehicles, tanks, artillery, etc. long before Maidan in Feb. 2014. The Ukrainian military attacked the Ukrainian citizens of Donbass. The Minsk II Peace Agreement was between the Kiev government and the two areas of Donbass. It was signed by the President of Ukraine and one person from Lugansk and Donetsk who were verbally elected by the people of Donbass. It was brokered by Germany, France and Russia. Over the years it was Germany and France who played the biggest part in the Nuland installed coup d'etat Kiev government's not fulfilling the peace agreements. The rest is history.
