CHECK IT. Anons want the easiest and best recipe for hash browns. Peel medium large potato. Bring large frying pan to med. heat with a couple tablespoons of olive oil in it. Use the side of the grater with the small (maybe 3/16 inch dia.) holes and shred. Squeeze shredded potato like you are making a snowball over sink. Spread evenly in pan. Don't make it too thick. In approx. 4+ minutes take a pat of butter (two pats are better) and with a fork move butter pat on top of frying hash browns. Use two plastic spatulas and cut potatoes in quarters. Flip the sections, fry until done. Hint: take spatula and lift up an edge enough to take a peak to see if is browned both before flipping and before taking from pan. Eat and enjoy. Oh yeah. Goes great with a small pile of applesauce. Learned that in Germany.
