It couldn’t have been a pleasant morning in the Debbie Mucarsel-Powell home when she opened the Miami Herald to read their weekend headline: “Miami men with Ukrainian political ties laundered money, DOJ says,” an alarming article which highlights the Congresswoman and husband’s close ties to an oligarch accused of operating a “slush fund,” among other crimes including “bribery, murder, embezzlement,” and a “murder-for-hire plot” with “hitmen”.
According to the Herald, the Congresswoman’s husband “worked for the [accused] companies… from 2008 to 2017” as its chief legal officer as the illegal scheme was well underfoot.
No wonder DMP is already down in the polls.
