Moving the ball forward on the Arabella / Kessler / Dark Money notable from last night.
Took a SWAG and looked for Eric Kessler in the FEC database for contributions. Yup. Kessler is in there w/Arabella listed under a variety of different iterations: Arabella, Arabella Advisors, Arabella Philanthropic Investment, Arabella Philantropic Investment Advisors (misspelled in the FEC database). A couple of different strings in the database led to some additional finds on Kessler. [Caution - There are multiple Eric Kesslers - including the former COO of HBO. j/s]
Turns out that Kessler is also President of Dow Lohnes Government Strategies, is listed as a 'major contributor' in the revolving door database, is former CoS for John Dingel AND worked for John Corzine AND owns three restaurants in DC (as of 2019). Went to the USAspending.gov database to see if Dow Lohnes had contracts listed. There was an indefinite delivery vehicle (IDV) let to Dow Lohnes in 07/18/2011 by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for legal services on a 'variety of different projects'. Clicking around, it turns out that the project was "PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES IN REGARDS TO IRAQ DREAM HOMES". Uh….could that have been Robert Biden's Iraqi building project? The timing is right.

Essentially what happened is, a guy named Kevin Justice — a longtime Biden family friend — in November of 2010, went and visited the white House and met with Joe Biden’s people in Joe Biden’s office. He started a company called HillStone International, a construction company. Three weeks after that meeting in the White House, he announced that James Biden, Joe Biden’s brother, was going to join as an executive vice president.
What stands out in this, of course, is that James Biden has no background in construction, and in a bio the company released on him, all they noted was the fact that he was comfortable in the corridors of power and his brother was vice president of the United States. A few months after he joins the firm, lo and behold, this new company lands a contract to build 100,000 homes in Iraq from the federal government. They get a bunch of other contracts, as well."
So in addition to the dark money side of things, there is the potential for a Biden connection as well.
