El Salvador Declares 'State Of Emergency' To Combat Gang Murder-Wave
A spike in gang violence has spilled blood across the city streets of El Salvador, forcing the government to declare a state of emergency to combat a wave of violent crime.
WSJ reports El Salvador's Congress approved emergency powers Sunday morning to suspend constitutional guarantees for one month to combat out-of-control gang violence.
President Nayib Bukele and lawmakers passed the emergency powers act, imposing limitations on free assembly, increasing detentions, and allowing for communication spying. This all comes as 62 people were killed on Saturday, a record for any day, and much of it was attributed to criminal gangs, such as MS-13 and 18th Street gangs.
The global Homicide Monitor of the Igarape Institute, a Brazil-based public security think tank, ranks El Salvador as one of the most violent countries in the world. Residents in the country's capital of San Salvador told WSJ that the murder wave is due to imprisoned gang leaders calling for attacks on small-business owners and working-class people (some of which are extortion targets).
Although President Nayib Bukele has reduced violent crime, the latest flare-up has been troublesome. The US government recently accused senior Bukele administration officials of privately arranging a truce with imprisoned top gang leaders to curb violent crime in exchange for "prison benefits."
Bukele's dreams of a Bitcoin utopia community in the country could be derailed as the president has sought to attract crypto miners worldwide who can take advantage of geothermal energy to power mining rigs.
"Invest here and earn all the money you want," Bukele told a crowd of crypto investors last year, though who wants to reside in a country where it's one of the most violent countries in the Western hemisphere.

Freshman Rep. Madison Cawthorn says that during his roughly 14-months in Washington, D.C., he has been invited to orgies and fellow lawmakers have done cocaine in front of him.
The North Carolina Republican made the comments on a recent episode of "Warrior Poet Society" podcast.
Cawthorn discusses the ways in which political life in Washington, D.C., compares to the TV show "House of Cards."
Just before the four-minute mark of the episode, Cawthorn says that during his time in government lawmakers to whom he has looked up throughout his life have invited him to orgies.
"I look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I've always paid attention to politics. Then all of the sudden you get invited to: 'Well hey we’re going to have kind of a sexual get together at one of our homes, you should come,'" the first-term congressman host John Lovell.
"I’m like: 'What did you just ask me to come to?" Cawthorn continued. "Then you realize they are asking you to come to an orgy."
Cawthorn then remarked that some of the people who are "leading on the movement to try and remove addiction in our country" have done illicit drugs in front of him. "You watch them do, you know, a key bump of cocaine right in front of you and it’s like 'Wow, this is wild," he said.
Cawthorn's marriage ended after just eight-months, with he and his ex-wife acknowledging the difficult transition to public life.

Summaries of the joint research – now wiped from the Chinese lab’s website – reveal scientists creating “chimeric” viruses that spread in humans at rates “equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.”
Following EcoHealth’s “longtime” collaborations with Wuhan, the American nonprofit experienced a sizable surge in its investment income, according to the group’s 990 filings and analysis by ProPublica.
In the Fiscal Year 2019, which runs until June 30th, EcoHealth reported $81,277 in investment income. The following Fiscal Year, which encompasses the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, EcoHealth Alliance reported $359,381 in investment income.
The sizable shift in income amounts to a 342.2 percent increase.

Hunter Biden’s Laptops Are Now An Active National Security Threat
On Friday, The Daily Mail reported that emails recovered from Hunter Biden’s laptop show he helped an infectious disease research company pursue projects in Ukraine. Those emails confirm portions of charges Russia made the previous day that an investment group run by the now-president’s son had funded a company conducting research at biological laboratories in Ukraine.
While these developments add another scandal to the long list of Biden family dirty laundry, the more urgent concern for the country should be the continuing threat to our national security posed by a compromised President Biden and the possibility that Russia has access to the catalog of compromising material contained on Hunter’s laptop.
Mere weeks before then-President Donald Trump and Joe Biden faced off in the November 2020 presidential election, The New York Post published emails obtained from a laptop Hunter Biden had abandoned at a repair shop in Delaware. Those emails revealed that during the elder Biden’s time as Barack Obama’s vice president, Hunter engaged in a pay-to-play scandal, trading off his father’s position to strike deals with players in Ukraine and China. The venture was a family one, with Joe “the Big Guy” Biden listed in one email as set to receive a 10 percent cut of one pending deal and Hunter telling his daughter in another message that “pop” took half of his earnings.
Even after a former business partner of Hunter Biden’s confirmed the authenticity of the emails, the supposed standard-bearers of journalism buried the scandal and social media outlets censored both the story and The New York Post. Worse still, “more than 50 former senior intelligence officials” signed a letter framing the Hunter Biden emails as Russian disinformation.
Among others, former CIA directors or acting directors John Brennan, Leon Panetta, Gen. Michael Hayden, John McLaughlin, and Michael Morell signed the letter. In doing so they gave then-candidate Joe Biden cover to lie to the American public, which he did when Trump confronted him about the scandal during a presidential debate.

“That’s exactly what [I] was told,” Biden countered. “There are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plant,” Biden professed to the American public before they went to the polls and elected Biden our commander in chief.
But even The New York Times has finally admitted the laptop was real and the emails were legitimate. Initially, that admission proved significant because it likewise legitimizes the scandals spawned from the documents recovered from Hunter’s abandoned laptop. However, the trajectory of the scandal changed Friday with The Daily Mail’s exclusive.
“Emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop show he helped secure millions of dollars of funding for Metabiota, a Department of Defense contractor specializing in research on pandemic-causing diseases that could be used as bioweapons,” The Daily Mail announced last week. The article continued: “[Biden] also introduced Metabiota to an allegedly corrupt Ukrainian gas firm, Burisma, for a ‘science project’ involving high biosecurity level labs in Ukraine. And although Metabiota is ostensibly a medical data company, its vice president emailed Hunter in 2014 describing how they could ‘assert Ukraine’s cultural and economic independence from Russia’– an unusual goal for a biotech firm.”

Academic Terrorism: How Think Tanks Stoked Ukraine Crisis?
Reputed foreign policy think tanks, lavishly funded by security establishments and military-industrial complex, are the real terrorist organizations that have a long and checkered history of cheerleading Western nations into pursuing militarist and belligerent state policies, clandestinely orchestrating proxy wars, publicly pleading for imposing no-fly zones and mounting purported “humanitarian interventions,” oftentimes on the ostensible pretext of so-called “responsibility to protect” and upholding capitalist and neocolonial exploitation in the garb of promoting bourgeois democracy in the developing world.
A “prophetic” RAND Corporation report titled “Overextending and Unbalancing Russia” published in 2019 declares the stated goal of American policymakers is “to undermine Russia just as the US subversively destabilized the former Soviet Union during the Cold War,” and predicts to the letter the crisis unfolding in Ukraine. RAND Corporation is a quasi-US governmental think tank that receives three-quarters of its funding from the US military.
While designating Russia as an “intractable adversary,” the report notes that “Russia has deep seated anxieties” about Western interference and potential military attack. These anxieties are deemed to be “a vulnerability to exploit.”
The RAND report lists several “provocative measures” to insidiously “destabilize and undermine” Russia. Some of the steps include: repositioning bombers within easy striking range of key Russian strategic targets; deploying additional tactical nuclear weapons to locations in Europe and Asia; increasing US and allied naval force posture and presence in Russia’s operating areas (Black Sea); holding NATO war exercises on Russia’s borders; and withdrawing from the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
Almost all the provocative actions recommended in the RAND report have practically been implemented by the successive Obama, Trump and Biden administrations since the 2014 Maidan coup, toppling Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and consequent annexation of the Crimean Peninsula by Russia.
The US Air Force has flown B-52 strategic bombers and RC-135 reconnaissance planes over eastern Ukraine in months before the invasion, as part of its effort to deter Russia. To stiffen Ukraine’s ability to resist, the United States and NATO dispatched teams of military advisers in months before the invasion to survey air defenses, logistics, communications and other essentials.
Besides deploying 15,000 additional troops in Eastern Europe last month, total number of US troops in Europe is now expected to reach 100,000. “We have 130 jets at high alert. Over 200 ships from the high north to the Mediterranean, and thousands of additional troops in the region,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told CNN on March 9.
Ahead of the NATO summit attended by President Biden Thursday, March 24, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced the transatlantic military alliance would double the number of battlegroups it had deployed in Eastern Europe.
“The first step is the deployment of four new NATO battlegroups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia, along with our existing forces in the Baltic countries and Poland,” Stoltenberg said. “This means that we will have eight multinational NATO battlegroups all along the eastern flank, from the Baltic to the Black Sea.”
NATO issued a statement after Thursday's emergency summit attended by Joe Biden and European leaders: “In response to Russia’s actions, we have activated NATO’s defense plans, deployed elements of the NATO Response Force, and placed 40,000 troops on our eastern flank, along with significant air and naval assets, under direct NATO command supported by Allies’ national deployments. We are also establishing four additional multinational battlegroups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.”

House expected to pass marijuana legalization bill this week
Senate Democrat leadership is looking to bring a mirror bill to the floor later this spring.
The Democrat-controlled House is expected this week to pass legislation that will legalize marijuana.
The initiative has close to full support from House Democrats and a powerful friend in Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer, who is hoping to introduce a Senate version of the bill this spring.
Oregon Democrat Rep. Earl Blumenauer, co-chairman of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, said that this Congress in particular, "represents a sea change" in the way that the legislative body deals with federally illegal substances.
"What we have seen is that the majority of people now realize that the war on drugs failed. Drugs are more accessible and cheaper and more potent and dangerous. Nobody won this war, except people who were involved with the drug dealers themselves," Blumenauer recently told The Hill.
Last week, the Senate unanimously passed a bill to expand the research being done on marijuana and its byproducts.
The shifting congressional view of marijuana has mirrored public opinion insofar as 91% of adults in the U.S. believe that marijuana should be, at least to some degree, legal.
Medical use of cannabis products are allowed by at least 37 states, four territories and the District of Columbia – 18 states allow its use recreationally.

Elon Musk Says He ‘Supposedly’ Tested Positive for the CCP Virus Again
Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has “supposedly” tested positive for the CCP virus, but he is experiencing no major symptoms, the billionaire himself confirmed in a March 28 statement.
“I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms,” Musk said on Twitter.
Musk previously tested positive for the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, in November 2020.
The business magnate questioned the accuracy of COVID-19 tests that month after they reportedly showed he tested positive twice and then negative twice all on the same day.
“[I] am getting wildly different results from different labs, but most likely I have a moderate case of COVID,” Musk said on Twitter. “My symptoms are that of a minor cold, which is no surprise since a coronavirus is a type of cold.”

During that interview, Musk also expressed his view on COVID-19 vaccine mandates, saying he believes that such policies should not be put in place in the United States.

“But by the same token I am against forcing people to be vaccinated,” he added. “You know, I think this is just not something we should do in America. Musk was recently seen dancing and joking with fans as he oversaw the handover of Tesla’s first German-made cars at its Gruenhide plant in Germany last week.

EU confirms date of its energy independence from Russia
Reliance on Russian gas won’t end until at least 2027
The European Commission has confirmed that it expects the EU to remain dependent on energy imports from Russia for at least another five years, the TASS news agency reported on Monday.
In response to a question posed during a press briefing in Brussels as to how soon US liquefied natural gas (LNG) would help Europe ditch Russian gas, European Commission Spokesperson for Climate Action and Energy Tim McPhie said the bloc would “be dependent on carbon fuels from Russia until 2027.” McPhie said the EU had estimated it could reduce its dependence on Russian gas by two-thirds this year and that a detailed plan about how it would achieve this would be presented by the end of May.
McPhie’s comments follow the bloc’s talks with the United States last week, which focused on an expansion of American LNG supplies to the European Union as a way to reduce the continent’s dependence on Russian gas. US President Joe Biden had met with Brussels officials to try to push for an embargo on Russian oil too, which Europe had refrained from imposing, citing recession fears.
The statement released by the US and the European Commission on energy security after the summit affirmed their “joint resolve to terminate EU dependence on Russian fossil fuels by 2027,” and announced that a working group had been set up to achieve that end.
The bloc said it had sought to ensure stable demand for additional US LNG of approximately 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year until at least 2030, “on the understanding that the price formula of LNG supplies to the EU should reflect long-term market fundamentals.”
The European Union has decided to stop buying natural gas from Russia as part of a wide-ranging array of sanctions imposed in response to Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine. Russia currently meets about 40% of the EU’s demand, supplying about 175 billion cubic meters per year.

Joe Biden gave what the White House billed as a “major address” Saturday evening in Warsaw, Poland.
Biden closed his speech with what is either a policy change or a gaffe just like his comment on Friday to U.S. troops they were headed into Ukraine.
Biden said, “For God’s sake, this man [Putin] cannot remain in power.”
Biden’s handlers immediately went into clean up mode and ‘clarified’ Biden’s regime change remarks.
According to Axios and Washington Post, Biden’s last line calling for Putin to be taken out was not on his teleprompter.
So Dementia Joe just blurted it out and escalated tensions with a nuclear power for no good reason.
“Do you believe what you said that Putin can’t remain in power, or do you now regret saying that because your government has been trying to walk that back? Does you words complicate matters?” NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell asked Biden.
