Bombshell abuse allegations continue to rock elite Thacher School
The Thacher School in Ojai, Calif., is an exclusive educational enclave with a $68,000 annual bill and a roster of illustrious alums, from politicians to CEOs to Hollywood types, including Howard Hughes, Noah Wyle and Joely Richardson.
More recently the institution, which was founded in 1889, has been making headlines for its high-profile #MeToo reckoning.
In June, LA law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson released an independent 91-page report revealing decades of sexual misconduct involving faculty and students. The findings divided alumni, some of whom questioned the independence of the report and felt a former head of school was scapegoated while the current administration was not held to the same scrutiny. In light of the criticism, a second report was commissioned in July and repeatedly delayed. It never arrived.
Instead, a blockbuster story from news site Law & Crime landed late last month. It outlines claims that the current administration covered up an alleged May 2021 assault in which one student, a relative of school founder Sherman Day Thacher, was reportedly accused of choking another student while having sex. It’s unclear when higher ups learned of the alleged incident but the student reportedly went home before the end of the school year. And according to unnamed sources in the explosive piece, the administration allegedly approached the student in August telling him to leave the school and, in exchange, it would not report the incident to investigators at MTO, nor would his college recommendations from Thacher be affected.

Rep. Madison Cawthorn says his fellow lawmakers have invited him to take part in orgies in Washington and snorted lines of cocaine right in front of him.
Cawthorn, a 26-year-old Republican from North Carolina, was asked in an interview last Thursday about whether the former Netflix series “House of Cards,” which chronicles a corrupt representative from South Carolina in DC played by Kevin Spacey, was fiction or more like a documentary.
“The only thing that’s not accurate in that show is that you could never get a piece of legislation about education passed that quickly,” Cawthorn said on the Warrior Poet Society podcast on YouTube.
Then he explained.
“The sexual perversion that goes on in Washington. I mean, being kind of a young guy in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70 – [you] look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics,” Cawthorn, who was elected in 2020, said.
“Then all of a sudden you get invited: ‘We’re going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come. What did you just ask me to come to? And then you realize they’re asking you to come to an orgy,” he said.
He also claimed to have seen people he described as leading national anti-addiction efforts snort coke.
“And then you watch them do a bump of cocaine right in front of you. And it’s like, this is wild,” Cawthorn said.
The Republican also made headlines earlier this month when he referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “thug” and the country’s government as “incredibly evil” to supporters, WRAL in Raleigh reported, citing video obtained of the event.
Voters in North Carolina have sued to keep him off the ballot this November because of comments he made supporting the US Capitol rioters on Jan. 6, 2021, who attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Dramatic pictures show Scots 'Anthrax Island' go up in flames amid huge blaze
The island was a testing site for secret germ warfare in WW2 and has been decimated by a huge blaze.
Dramatic pictures have shown a Scots island, known as 'Anthrax Island', after it went up in flames.
Gruinard Island, located off the north west coast of Scotland, was decimated by a huge blaze on Saturday night.
Locals were stunned to see flames and smoke pouring into the sky as the fire ripped through the island.
Taking to social media, one onlooker said: "Gruinard Island ablaze, reports of seeing fire from Lewis."
Another added: "Very sad seeing Gruinard Island in flames but even sadder hearing the haunting screeching of the oyster catchers and geese."
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were not aware of the fire until Sunday morning.
However, they added that crews would not respond due to there being no inhabitants on Gruinard Island.
The island in Wester Ross, known to many as ' Anthrax Island', was contaminated during WW2 when it became a site for testing biological weapons.
Sheep were exposed to deadly bombs packed with anthrax on the island, which killed the livestock within days.
When inhaled, anthrax spores can damage the lungs and is often fatal. Direct contact with anthrax can also cause raised boil-like lesions on the skin.
Gruinard was a no-go zone until it was declared safe by the UK Government in 1990 following a major clean-up operation in 1986.
