anyone that "voluntarily" took the SSN gave up their constitutional rights to become a "federal" citizen. You live in under the administrative system with only the rights you are given by the state. Color of law. This is why you see the gold fringe on flags. By taking the SSN you entered into contract and agreed to pay taxes into the system in return for the "benefits" they promised.
A "progressive" tax is unconstitutional. Any tax levied would need to be collected EVENLY amongst the states/people. The introduction of the Federal Reserve in 1913 precipitated the need for the central bankers to ram through (fraudulently) the 16th amendment to give them permission to tax people as they pleased. How do you fool the people? Get them to give up their rights for the promise of benefits.

Getting the SSN is still voluntary and even says so on their website, however, they have created a system whereby you have a hard time living your day to day life without giving in and taking the number. Without the number you are forced to live "off the grid". There are many people even today who live this way, do not have the SSN and do not pay taxes.
