So anon decided to try making Civil War era hard tack from recipe at link below. It has a shelf life of over 50 years, which itself is insane. Made from: flour, water, sea salt. Bake 30 minutes, poke holes and flip, bake another 30 minutes. That's it. And it is not too bad. Kind of good actually. Very hard in places. Like chewing through a tootsie pop to get to the chocolate. Satisfying to eat. Worth knowing about imo.
