Arab Coalition Command in Yemen Announces Suspension of Military Operations - State Media

The Yemeni armed opposition movement Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, announced on Sunday a three-day cessation of hostilities against Saudi Arabia and its coalition. The news comes as this month marks the seventh anniversary of the war, which has caused one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.

The Saudi Arabian-led coalition said on Tuesday it would cease hostilities in Yemen during inter-Yemeni talks in Riyadh, that will be held on Wednesday, according to the Saudi news agency SPA.

The alliance said that suspending military operations is aimed at creating “appropriate conditions” for peace talks to succeed.

“We announce the cessation of military operations inside Yemen to make the consultations successful and create a positive environment for peacemaking during the month of Ramadan, at the invitation of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf,” the statement says.

Earlier in the month, the warring sides made efforts to initiate peace talks amid continuing hostilities. Saudi Arabia has offered to hold the meeting in Riyadh, ready to guarantee the inviolability of the Houthi delegation. Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi has also agreed to take part in the talks, which would be the first attempt to arrange a direct meeting between the leaders of both sides of the Yemeni civil war.

The Houthi representatives, so far, have not officially confirmed their participation in the talks, and have increased their shelling of Saudi territories. At the end of the last week, they carried out a massive attack on energy facilities in the kingdom.

The negotiations are expected to be held between March 29 and April 7 and resemble a conference. The parties plan to discuss a number of issues to tackle the political crisis, including the formation of a new Yemeni government and the reconstruction of war-affected areas. In addition, participants will discuss the opening of humanitarian corridors from northern Yemen, which has been in a transport blockade for more than seven years.

A number of Arabic media outlets have suggested that the negotiations may be the first step towards ending the war.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday signed into law HB 1557, a measure that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity to children in grades pre-K through grade 3.

The legislation states that “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Disney lashed out at DeSantis and vowed to fight the new law in court.

“Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts…” Disney said.

Journalist Christopher Rufo obtained video from inside Disney’s meeting about Florida’s new parental rights bill.

Executive producer Latoya Raveneau said her team implemented a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and is regularly “adding queerness” to children’s programming.

“I was just wherever I could just basically adding queerness…if you see anything queer in the show… no one would stop me,” Ms. Raveneau admitted.

Christopher Rufo posted another clip of Disney corporate president Karey Burke saying she supports have LGBTQ characters in her stories.

Karey Burke said all of her children are queer and transgender so she supports Disney shows having as many LGBTQ characters as possible.

Earlier this month 108 people were arrested in a human trafficking sting operation in central Florida.

According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, 4 Disney employees were among the people arrested in the sting.

NFL Orders Teams To Hire Minority Or Female Offensive Assistant Coaches For 2022 Season

The NFL will require every team to hire a minority or female offensive assistant coach for the 2022 season in an effort to ensure more opportunities for diverse candidates.

The policy was adopted by NFL owners during their annual meeting on March 28 and requires all 32 NFL teams to hire an offensive assistant coach who is “a female or a member of an ethnic or racial minority,” regardless of whether or not the team already has a coach who satisfies those requirements among their staff.

It is unclear exactly when the policy goes into effect.

According to the NFL, the individual hired will “receive a one-year contract and work closely with the head coach and offensive staff to gain experience.”

Teams will receive funding toward the coach’s salary for up to two years from a league-wide fund.

“In recent years, head coaches have predominantly had offensive backgrounds. We believe this resolution will assist greatly in continuing to source and identify diverse candidates earlier in their career, providing pipeline depth and furthering developing the diverse offensive pipeline,” the updated NFL policy reads.

The policy adopted Monday is an adjustment to the Rooney Rule adopted by the National Football League in 2003 which requires league teams to interview ethnic-minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation vacancies.

That rule was adopted based on recommendations by the league’s Workplace Diversity Committee in an attempt to “develop a deep, sustainable talent pool at all levels of the organization” and “increase the number of minorities hired in head coach, general manager, and executive positions,” according to the NFL.

The Rooney Rule has regularly been updated and expanded since it went into effect.

The CDC is now telling Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine recipients to get two mRNA jabs for greater protection against the China virus.

The Washington Post reported:

The nearly 17 million Americans who received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine are less protected against serious illness and hospitalizations than those who got the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna shots, according to federal data released Tuesday.

The latest data suggest Johnson & Johnson recipients should get a booster with one of the messenger RNA vaccines, if they haven’t already done so — and even consider a second messenger RNA booster for the greatest protection. The data come from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that analyzed the results of mix-and-match vaccine-and-booster combinations during a four-month period when the highly transmissible omicron variant was dominant.

Even combining a Johnson & Johnson vaccine with a booster of either Johnson & Johnson, or one of the two messenger RNA vaccines, wasn’t as strong as three shots of the messenger RNA vaccines in preventing emergency room visits or hospitalizations, according to the report.

Coincidentally, shortly after the CDC released this report on the J&J vaccine, they authorized another Covid-19 booster shot of the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines for people 50 and older and certain immunocompromised individuals.

That means four doses of the mRNA vaccine in less than 2-years.

China: Biden Pushing Ukraine Crisis into ‘Nuclear War’

China’s state-run Global Times on Monday accused President Joe Biden of pushing the world closer to nuclear war by declaring Russian leader Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power” after invading Ukraine.

The Global Times was unimpressed by White House efforts to spin Biden’s remarks away as a gaffe, or later as a personal expression of his deep “moral outrage” that has no bearing on U.S. foreign policy.

“No matter how well Biden’s propaganda machine works, it cannot downplay the fact that such a blunt statement at a sensitive time could further inflame the situation. This was unwise and irresponsible, reflecting a dire problem within U.S. policy-making: some politicians are taking their personal grievances to the national level,” the Chinese Communist paper wrote.

No additional examples of such grievance-nationalizing were provided, but one suspects the editors were thinking about stern criticism of China’s actions from American politicians.

The Global Times and its correspondents mocked Biden for talking tough after his debacle in Afghanistan, which brought a 20-year effort to change the regime in a far smaller and poorer nation than Russia to a mournful conclusion.

The editorial went further and jeered that Americans are forced to deal with “soaring inflation and skyrocketing energy prices” while their government spends billions on “supporting Ukraine rather than on solving domestic problems.”

“Biden’s hostility cannot be reversed: It seems that his ultimate goal is to topple another nuclear power and overthrow its leadership. Many are seriously worrying that the Ukraine crisis will get out of control and escalate into a nuclear war, given that both sides are becoming more ferocious,” the Global Times warned.

The Sunshine State's Republican governor signed the "Parental Rights in Education" bill on Monday, though critics have been erroneously referring to the measure as the "Don't Say Gay" bill.

One of the provisions included in the legislation prohibits teaching kids in kindergarten through third grade about sexual orientation and gender identity.

US Top Commander In Europe Forced To Rebut Latest Biden Remarks

In yet another awkward contradiction out of this US administration concerning Ukraine, which at this point seems to come almost daily, the head of US European Command was forced to issue a contrary explanation after Biden on Monday said multiple times that US forces are "helping train" Ukrainian troops in Poland.

This triggered a rebuttal of the US Commander-in-Chief from Gen. Tod Wolters, who also serves as NATO’s supreme allied commander in Europe. On Tuesday Gen. Wolters denied that the US is currently training Ukraine forces in Poland.

"I do not believe that we are in the process of currently training military forces from Ukraine in Poland," the top general told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

He said further according to The Hill when pressed on Biden's series of statements, which the White House had later sought to downplay as gaffes and merely lacking in nuance:

“There are liaisons that are there that are being given advice,” Wolters told Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), without elaborating further. "And that's different than [what] I think you're referring to with respect training.”

But again, as we detailed earlier, Biden had actually asserted that American forces were training Ukrainians in Poland multiple times, strongly suggesting this was anything but "confusion" or a mere gaffe on the president's part…

National security adviser Jake Sullivan previously stated that the US currently has 10,500 troops in Poland, some of which the president visited over the weekend. Across Europe, Washington has bolstered its presence to the tune of 100,000 total troops. The U.S. has 10,500 troops in Poland as part of the 100,000 total that it has stationed across Europe, told reporters.

When initially asked Monday about this "training the Ukrainian troops" remark, Biden offered the dubious explanation that he was actually referencing he himself "being with and talking with the Ukrainian troops who are in Poland."

But it remains that not only his own advisers have had to offer repeat corrections, but now even the US head of European Command in Senate testimony. This goes beyond an awkward situation, but even into the realm of dangerous, given many of these walked-back remarks serve as a huge provocation to Russia (especially Saturday's regime change statement fiasco from Warsaw).
