Top civilian commander at US air base led child sex abuse ring

The army employee, who’s currently serving 17 years, may have been open to blackmail, says a former FBI chief, as a civil case looms

The US Army and the State of Arizona missed multiple red flags that allowed a senior civilian commander at an air base in Afghanistan to lead a child sex abuse ring over the course of a decade, according to records reviewed by AP.

The news agency has interviewed one of the alleged victims, who is suing the state in a civil case that begins next week.

David Frodsham, who pleaded guilty to abuse charges in 2016 and is serving a 17-year-sentence, led a network that included an army sergeant who was later found guilty of posting child pornography online. One of the alleged victims of the ring was Frodsham’s adopted son.

While working in Afghanistan, Frodsham “jokingly” asked an IT technician to grant him access on his work computer to the free pornographic video-sharing website YouPorn, told one female colleague she had only been recruited because he wanted to be “surrounded by pretty women,” and regularly called others “honey,” “babe,” and “cougar.” He was ordered back to the US after the army verified multiple allegations of sexual harassment against him.

“I would not recommend placing him back into a position of authority, but rather pursuing disciplinary actions at his home station,” a commanding officer wrote in a US Army investigative file seen by AP, recommending Frodsham be returned from Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan to Fort Huachuca in Arizona.

Despite nearly 20 complaints of abuse, neglect, maltreatment, and licensing violations, Frodsham and his wife, Barbara, were allowed to retain custody of their three adopted sons. At the same time, the US Army gave Frodsham security clearances and access to sensitive information, despite his vulnerability to blackmail due to his offending behavior.

When Frodsham returned to Fort Huachuca, he rejoined the army’s Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM), serving as director of personnel for a global command of 15,000 soldiers and civilians, AP has reported.

“He would have been an obvious target of foreign intelligence services because of his role and his location,” Frank Figliuzzi, a former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence, said, adding that the location in which Frodsham had worked on his return from Afghanistan was “one of the more sensitive installations in the continental United States.”

A spokesperson for the US Army at Fort Huachuca confirmed that Frodsham had worked as a program manager for NETCOM before he was arrested. They did not reveal whether the army had disciplined Frodsham after he returned from Afghanistan or had concerns that he might be a security risk.

Military wants AI to replace human decision-making in battle…

When a suicide bomber attacked Kabul International Airport in August last year, the death and destruction was overwhelming: The violence left 183 people dead, including 13 U.S. soldiers.

This kind of mass casualty event can be particularly daunting for field workers. Hundreds of people need care, the hospitals nearby have limited room, and decisions on who gets care first and who can wait need to be made quickly. Often, the answer isn’t clear, and people disagree.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) – the innovation arm of the U.S. military – is aiming to answer these thorny questions by outsourcing the decision-making process to artificial intelligence. Through a new program, called In the Moment, it wants to develop technology that would make quick decisions in stressful situations using algorithms and data, arguing that removing human biases may save lives, according to details from the program’s launch this month.

Though the program is in its infancy, it comes as other countries try to update a centuries-old system of medical triage, and as the U.S. military increasingly leans on technology to limit human error in war. But the solution raises red flags among some experts and ethicists who wonder if AI should be involved when lives are at stake.

“AI is great at counting things,” Sally A. Applin, a research fellow and consultant who studies the intersection between people, algorithms and ethics, said in reference to the DARPA program. “But I think it could set a precedent by which the decision for someone’s life is put in the hands of a machine.”

Founded in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, DARPA is among the most influential organizations in technology research, spawning projects that have played a role in numerous innovations, including the Internet, GPS, weather satellites and, more recently, Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine.

But its history with AI has mirrored the field’s ups and downs. In 1960s, the agency made advances in natural language processing, and getting computers to play games such as chess. During the 1970s and 1980s, progress stalled, notably due to the limits in computing power.

Since the 2000s, as graphics cards have improved, computing power has become cheaper and cloud computing has boomed, the agency has seen a resurgence in using artificial intelligence for military applications. In 2018, it dedicated $2 billion, through a program called AI Next, to incorporate AI in over 60 defense projects, signifying how central the science could be for future fighters.

“DARPA envisions a future in which machines are more than just tools,” the agency said in announcing the AI Next program. “The machines DARPA envisions will function more as colleagues than as tools.”

Director Of Vaccine Safety Research Foundation Warns Of Possible Nanotech Discovered in Vaccinated Blood Samples

According to a study by Steve Hirsch, doctors identified strange “land masses” in the blood samples of COVID vaccine recipients.

Recent blood tests have indicated that vaccinated blood may be distinguished from unvaccinated blood by the presence of “land masses,” according to Hirsch, the Executive Director of the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation.

Hirsch writes, “The doctor drew a blood sample from me, placed it on a glass slide, and then covered it with a glass cover.” “What he saw was consistent with what he’s seen in every COVID-vaccinated patient he’s examined,” he explained.

Hirsch proposed a few theories about the structures’ origins.

While some have claimed that the forms were present in human blood before to the epidemic, others have speculated that they could represent “graphene oxide,” a supposedly hazardous single-atomic-layered substance that Pfizer and Moderna have both been accused of utilizing in their vaccinations.

“Large blood inclusions like this just weren’t seen pre-COVID,” an expert reader told Hirsch. “My best guess is that these are, indeed, atom-thick layers of graphene oxide/hydroxide which will easily fold multiple times into one ‘land mass’ structure.”

The reader went on to suggest that graphene oxide “has interesting paramagnetic properties” and that perhaps “these sheets can form the substrate for the construction of nano-level biocircuits/sensors for tracking/control/etc.”

There have been other reports of the presence of graphene oxide in COVID-19 vaccines.

Scientists at the University of Almeria in Spain have claimed that the nano-particle “makes up between 98% and 99%” of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, according to The Expose.

The Expose reported that a “British medical practitioner” confirmed the report, and discovered “graphene, SP3 carbon, iron oxide, and carbon derivatives” in a vial of the vaccine.

Buried Halfway Into a 40-Page Report, WHO Reveals New Vaccine Side-Effect Many Have Yet to Recover From

Amid pushes for a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccines, the World Health Organization has said it is looking into reports of hearing problems stemming from the vaccines.

According to NBC News, the WHO has reported 367 cases of tinnitus among people who had received a COVID-19 vaccine.

The condition is characterized by ringing in the ears, and it usually occurred within one day of the vaccine being administered to patients who reported it.

Patients who experienced this side effect ranged in age from 19 to 91, NBC reported. Almost 75 percent of those who reported the condition were women.

In addition to the cases of tinnitus, the WHO reported 164 people identified new hearing loss after receiving the vaccine as of Feb. 22.

“A recent signal detection activity at the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) identified hearing loss (including sudden cases) and tinnitus following COVID-19 vaccination as a preliminary signal to be further assessed,” the WHO wrote in a newsletter.

Some of the patients who experienced these symptoms also reported “headache, dizziness and nausea,” the WHO said.

NBC said reports of tinnitus came from 27 different countries including Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States.

While some patients recovered quickly, others had to undergo “steroid treatment” to address the side effects, the newsletter said.

In addition, multiple patients described their tinnitus after vaccination as “unrelenting and life-altering for months,” NBC reported.

The WHO said it needed to continue monitoring reports of these side effects to make a final determination on next steps.

“Awareness of this possible link may help healthcare professionals and those vaccinated to monitor symptoms and seek care, as appropriate,” the newsletter said.

“As there is still only limited data in the literature providing evidence for this link, further monitoring is required.”

This report comes as the Food and Drug Administration authorized a fourth dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday.

Public displays of the letter "Z" have been outlawed in two German states, after authorities in Bavaria and Lower Saxony announced over the weekend that anyone who displays the letter - which has become synonymous with support for Russia's war in Ukraine - will be subject to a fine or three years in jail, according to The Local.

"The Russian war of aggression on the Ukraine is a criminal act, and whoever publicly approves of this war of aggression can also make himself liable to prosecution," said an Interior Ministry spokesperson in a Monday press statement.

The letter became a hot-button issue after tanks amassed at the Ukrainian border displayed it - possibly to distinguish them from Ukraine's tanks.

Chapter 140 of Germany's criminal code recognizes "incitement to crime of aggression" as an offense, according to Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform. The Local reports that there have been displays of "Z" in both Lower Saxony and Bavaria. -NPR

Last month Democrat Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks (Oakland) proposed a bill that would require ALL workers in California to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

The proposed legislation would mandate all California businesses to require their employees and independent contractors to be vaccinated against Covid unless the employee obtains an exemption for religious reasons or a medical reason.

People who receive an exemption would be required to be regularly tested for Covid.

Public safety unions aggressively pushed back on the vaccine mandates and the proposal was ultimately defeated.

The author of the bill, Democrat Buffy Wicks on Tuesday said she’s putting the bill on hold after major backlash by public safety unions

Buffy Wicks said she’s disappointed in the opposition to her authoritarian bill.

“While I’m disappointed in the opposition to our bill by public safety unions, it’s my hope that they’ll ultimately come to the table to make sure all of their workers are vaccinated—& that every job sector in CA has the tools necessary to keep their workers safe from COVID,’ the California Democrat said.

CIA Officer Who Signed Hunter Biden Laptop Letter Claims Credit For Trump Loss

One of the former CIA officers who signed a letter claiming stories about a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden were disinformation says he helped swing the 2020 election from former President Donald Trump.

“I take special pride in personally swinging the election away from Trump,” John Sipher, who served for decades as a senior operations officer at the CIA, wrote in a recent post on Twitter.

“I lost the election for Trump? Well then I fell [sic] pretty good about my influence,” he also wrote.

Sipher and 50 other former U.S. intelligence officials signed the letter on Oct. 19, 2020, alleging that the effort to distribute its contents “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” despite not knowing whether the laptop was legitimate.

The letter was the core of a story from Politico that claimed the New York Post story on the laptop was “Russian disinformation.”

The Post was the first to report on emails on the laptop, which was dropped off at a computer repair store and never picked up by then-candidate Joe Biden’s son, according to the store’s owner.

While the FBI picked up the computer and a hard drive from the owner, the bureau’s apparent inaction in probing the matter prompted him to pass on a copy of the hard drive to a lawyer representing former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who in turn passed it on to the Post.

The Oct. 14, 2020, story about the emails came as some voters were still deciding whether to vote for Biden or Trump. The story was widely questioned by legacy news outlets, suppressed by social media platforms, and claimed to be part of a Russian effort, despite top officials like Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe saying there was no evidence that was the case.

Sipher is one of the few former officials who signed the letter to respond to fresh questions about its contents, after more legacy outlets, including Politico, said they’ve confirmed it is legitimate.

Once again, the programming has changed.

Like clockwork, the wall-to-wall news coverage of the latest crisis has shifted gears.

We have gone from COVID-19 lockdowns to Trump-Biden election drama to the Russia-Ukraine crisis to the Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmation hearings to Will Smith’s on-camera assault of comedian Chris Rock at the Academy Awards Ceremony.

The distractions, distortions, and political theater just keep coming.

The ongoing reality show that is life in the American police state feeds the citizenry’s voracious appetite for titillating, soap opera drama.

Much like the fabricated universe in Peter Weir’s 1998 film The Truman Show, in which a man’s life is the basis for an elaborately staged television show aimed at selling products and procuring ratings, the political scene in the United States has devolved over the years into a carefully calibrated exercise in how to manipulate, polarize, propagandize and control a population.

This is the magic of the reality TV programming that passes for politics today: as long as we are distracted, entertained, occasionally outraged, always polarized but largely uninvolved and content to remain in the viewer’s seat, we’ll never manage to present a unified front against tyranny (or government corruption and ineptitude) in any form.

The more that is beamed at us, the more inclined we are to settle back in our comfy recliners and become passive viewers rather than active participants as unsettling, frightening events unfold.

We don’t even have to change the channel when the subject matter becomes too monotonous. That’s taken care of for us by the programmers (the corporate media).

“Living is easy with eyes closed,” observed John Lennon, and that’s exactly what reality TV that masquerades as American politics programs the citizenry to do: navigate the world with their eyes shut.

As long as we’re viewers, we’ll never be doers.

Studies suggest that the more reality TV people watch—and I would posit that it’s all reality TV, entertainment news included—the more difficult it becomes to distinguish between what is real and what is carefully crafted farce.

“We the people” are watching a lot of TV.

On average, Americans spend five hours a day watching television. By the time we reach age 65, we’re watching more than 50 hours of television a week, and that number increases as we get older. And reality TV programming consistently captures the largest percentage of TV watchers every season by an almost 2-1 ratio.

This doesn’t bode well for a citizenry able to sift through masterfully-produced propaganda in order to think critically about the issues of the day, whether it’s fake news peddled by government agencies or foreign entities.

Those who watch reality shows tend to view what they see as the “norm.” Thus, those who watch shows characterized by lying, aggression and meanness not only come to see such behavior as acceptable and entertaining but also mimic the medium.

This holds true whether the reality programming is about the antics of celebrities in the White House, in the board room, or in the bedroom.

It’s a phenomenon called “humilitainment.”

Vaccine mandate for South Australian teachers and transport workers dropped as COVID-19 cases approach record

Unvaccinated teachers and school staff in South Australia, as well as public transport workers and taxi and rideshare drivers, will be able to return to work tomorrow.

Both sectors have faced workforce pressures amid escalating COVID-19 cases in South Australia.

The state recorded two deaths of people with COVID-19 and 5,496 new cases, the second highest daily total on record.

Those who died were a man aged in 70s and woman in her 80s.

A total of 180 people with the virus are in hospital, including eight in intensive care and one on a ventilator.

Daily case numbers are expected to continue to rise throughout the first half of April.

"The numbers we do expect to continue to rise and we're working very closely with — and I'm working closely with — our healthcare system to make sure we both have in-hospital care but also out-of-hospital care for everybody that requires it," Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier said.

New rules for public school teachers

Unvaccinated workers in public schools will to wear masks at all times indoors and use a rapid antigen test (RAT) every day.

They will not be able to work in remote Aboriginal schools, in special schools or one-on-one with vulnerable students.

The mandates were put in place last year under the commissioner's powers through the Emergency Management Act.

New Premier Peter Malinauskas is planning to revoke the state of emergency by the middle of the year.

Mr Stevens said the mandate had been useful despite being revoked about four months after it was implemented.

"The mandate under the Emergency Management Act was put in place so we could implement quick and effective changes that saw staff in critical sectors vaccinated as quickly as possible and getting those vaccination levels up to a high standard," he said.

"That has been achieved."

The mandate will also no longer to private school staff.
