And there are XY females, who are born female and present ambiguously. The law shouldn't be binary because people aren't a binary monolith.
Being forced to present in a conforming way is probably what makes non-binary folksgood actors. They've had a lifetime of experience getting by in a fake world, with fake boundaries.
We, as a society, can learn to accept differences, and figure out how to get along or continue to scorn and dehumanize others. In the old days, we'd force people to behave a 'certain way' until they killed themselves. Before that, we'd just kill humans who didn't "conform" to the "standards" by leaving them in the wilderness for the animals to eat. I think we can continue learning to do better.
Homosexuality has a genetic component backed by twins studies. In fact, a boy who is born into a family with many older brothers is much more likely to be born homosexual. It's nature's way of keeping balance.
Kinda illustrates why the gov't/authorities shouldn't be involved in so much of our lives.
