Shit. 14 knots is pretty fast for that loaded boat and the ship channel. How did the pilot get out of the channel and take a huge boat with over 42 feet of draft into 25 feet of water depth. I sailed the bay only from Annapolis south via the Severn. We drew about 8 feet in the sailboat and we had to pay attention. I heard somewhere that 70% of the Chesapeake Bay is less than 6 feet depth. Don't know if that's true.
