Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke was skewered online for proudly wearing a "Don't mess with trans kids" shirt.

On Thursday, O'Rourke posted a photo on social media of himself wearing the controversial T-shirt promoting transgender children that has the colors of the Texas state flag on it.

The slogan refers to the successful "Don't mess with Texas" campaign initiated by the Texas Department of Transportation to convince Texans not to litter by featuring ads with celebrities such as blues musician Stevie Ray Vaughan, country singer-songwriter Willie Nelson, and actor Matthew McConaughey.

O'Rourke was quickly lampooned on social media for advocating for children to change their gender. Numerous Twitter reactions advised O'Rourke to "not mess with any kids."

Following months of near-daily antivaccination demonstrations outside the Roslindale home of Mayor Michelle Wu, the Boston City Council on Wednesday adopted a controversial proposal to further restrict the hours when protesters may target private residences with their demonstrations.

The hotly debated measure was introduced by Wu, who has framed the consistent, early-morning ruckus as harassment, a feeling many of her neighbors in the usually quiet part of the city share.But critics of the new rules,including several who routinely picket outside the mayor’s home, say the restrictions would unfairly curb First Amendment rights.

Wu is hated for many reasons. Recently she instituted a fee on restaurant owners on the North Side of the city only. This move shows the extreme measures Wu feels comfortable implementing. Per Boston.com:

Facing backlash from restaurateurs, Mayor Michelle Wu on Tuesday formally announced flexible parameters for how the city will charge North End restaurants seeking to open outdoor dining spaces this year.

The accommodations, which Wu first mentioned during an interview on WBUR on Monday, will allow restaurants the ability to pay the new $7,500 fee in installments.

Fees can be tailored to reflect operating schedules, so that restaurants who do not want to open outdoor space for the entire season will only pay for when they open outside.

The recent financial sanctions imposed on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine are threatening to weaken the dominance of the U.S. petrodollar as the world currency, said First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to The Financial Times.

The sanctions may result in a more fragmented international monetary system, warned Gopinath.

She had previously said that the sanctions against Russia would not foreshadow the demise of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency and that the Ukraine crisis would slow growth, but not cause a global recession.

The United States, the EU, and the Group of Seven nations have hit Russia with a bundle of heavy sanctions and blocked the country from using SWIFT, the global communications service that clears international financial transactions, virtually cutting it off from the global financial markets and international trade.

The United States also froze $630 billion in assets held in international reserves by the Russian Central Bank.

The Russian government is retaliating by demanding payment in rubles or gold for purchases of energy and other important commodities.

“If they want to buy, let them pay either in hard currency, and this is gold for us, or pay as it is convenient for us, this is the national currency,” said the head of Russia’s energy committee, Pavel Zavalny.

US says Israel free to act against Iran

The US envoy to Israel said Tel Aviv would not be tied by any nuclear deal with Iran

Washington’s ambassador to Israel has said that a renewed nuclear pact with Iran will not bar the close US ally from taking action to “protect” itself, as negotiators attempt to revive the 2015 JCPOA agreement between Tehran and world powers.

Speaking to Israel’s Channel 12, on Thursday, Ambassador Tom Nides outlined that the United States does not expect Tel Aviv to “sit quietly and not do anything” should a final deal be struck with Iran.

“We’ve been very clear about this. If we have a deal, the Israelis’ hands are not tied. If we don’t have a deal, the Israelis’ hands are certainly not tied,” the envoy said, adding that whether or not an agreement is reached, “Israel can do and take whatever actions they need to take to protect the state of Israel.”

While Nides argued that President Joe Biden is doing “whatever he can to make sure that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon” using “a diplomatic channel,” he appeared to give tacit approval for Israeli military action against the Islamic Republic even with an agreement in place to restrain its atomic program.

Iran insists its nuclear facilities have no military dimension and are solely used for power and medical purposes, claims repeatedly confirmed by the UN’s nuclear watchdog before Washington’s unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018. Since then, the US has reimposed all of its prior sanctions on Tehran and then some, while Iran has scaled back its own commitments under the deal, including limits on its enrichment of uranium.

The US envoy went on to state that Israel has been kept informed of the ongoing nuclear talks, saying Tel Aviv knows “exactly what is going on,” even if officials are at times displeased with the direction of the negotiations.

An American terrorism designation for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an elite military unit, remains a major sticking point between the two sides. Nides, however, declined to say whether the administration would take the group off the terror blacklist, despite reports that it is considering that step.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has urged against such a decision, citing concerns over the IRGC during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken last weekend.

At the press conference, America’s top diplomat declared “there is no daylight” between the US and Israeli stance on a nuclear-armed Iran, vowing that “deal or no deal,” the two sides would “continue to work together… to counter Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the region.”

Tel Aviv has long opposed the JCPOA, having accused Iran of working toward a nuclear weapon for more than 20 years. Former PM Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the pact as a dangerous form of appeasement, insisting the deal’s sunset clauses for nuclear restrictions would eventually allow Iran to obtain a bomb. Bennett, for his part, has similarly called the agreement a “Band-Aid solution” that would endure “for just a few years,” also suggesting that Israel would pay the price for an empowered Tehran after the JCPOA expires.

A Chinese Influence Group Tied To Bill Gates Wants To Collaborate With American Agriculture Officials.

A Chinese Communist Party-backed influence group with a history of collaborating with Bill Gates co-sponsored an event targeting American officials to support collaborating with China on farming in the U.S.

The unearthed event comes amidst Gates amassing the largest amount of privately owned U.S. farmland and advocating for overhauling global food production and diets in favor of a “plant-based” approach. The Chinese Communist Party has similarly been purchasing massive amounts of U.S. farmland despite national security concerns.

The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) co-hosted the 2022 U.S. – China Agriculture Roundtable with the U.S.-China Heartland Association (USCHA).

Founded by former Democrat Governor of Missouri Bob Holden, the USHCA purports to be a “bipartisan organization committed to building stronger ties between USHCA Region (20 states located in the USA between the Great Lakes to the Gulf) and the People’s Republic of China.”

“Our focus will be on Trust Building efforts connecting government officials; business leaders; educational and community interests with like minded institutions between the Heartland Region and the People’s Republic of China,” the group’s mission statement euphemizes.

The USHCA, however, appears to be used by several Chinese Communist Party-controlled organizations to gain access to American agricultural officials and company representatives.

Among the Chinese Communist Party influence groups that collaborate with USHCA are the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and China United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), both of which are part of Beijing’s United Front Work Department.

The United Front Work Department is a billion-dollar operation executed by the Chinese Communist Party seeking “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign individuals and the policies of foreign states to serve Beijing’s interests,” according to the federal U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission.

Also referred to as “avowedly an arm of the party-state,” CPAFFC has been flagged by the U.S. State Department for its campaigns to “directly and malignly influence” American officials and business leaders.

Gates, who has a long history of collaboration with the Chinese Communist Party in his personal and professional capacities, visited the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in June 2014 to deliver a speech praising the group. Gates has also previously advised CUSEF.

The recent agriculture forum featured a host of American officials including Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Missouri Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn, and Congressman Darin LaHood. Other individuals who play a critical role in America’s food supply chains – including CEO of U.S. Farmers and Ranchers in Action Erin Fitzgerald, President & CEO of U.S. Dairy Export Council Krysta Hardin, and CEO of the U.S. Soybean Export Council Jim Sutter – were also in attendance.

CPAFFC President Lin Songtian addressed the event, sharing how he “hoped that China and the United States would take this forum as an opportunity to communicate frankly and find the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of agricultural import and export, cross-border e-commerce, green agriculture, agricultural science and technology innovation, and deepen mutual cooperation and mutual trust,” according to a CPAFFC summary.

Facebook Moderators Told to ‘Err on the Side of an Adult’ with Potential Child Sexual Abuse Material

According to recent reports, Facebook’s content moderators are told to “err on the side of an adult” when unsure of the age of a victim in potential child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

A recent report from the New York Times reveals that Facebook’s training documents for the company’s content moderators instruct them to “err on the side of an adult” when they don’t know the age of an individual shown in a photo or video suspected of being child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Companies like Facebook are required to monitor their platforms for child sexual abuse material and if found, report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Many tech firms employ content moderators to review content flagged as potential CSAM.

The Verge reports that the policy that instructs Mark Zuckerberg’s moderators to “err on the side of an adult” was made for Facebook’s content moderators at the third-party contractor Accenture and is mentioned in a California Law Review article from August, which states:

Interviewees also described a policy called “bumping up,” which each of them personally disagreed with. The policy applies when a content moderator is unable to readily determine whether the subject in a suspected CSAM photo is a minor (“B”) or an adult (“C”). In such situations, content moderators are instructed to assume the subject is an adult, thereby allowing more images to go unreported to NCMEC.

Facebook’s head of safety, Antigone Davis, told the Times that the policy is accurate and attempts to take into account the privacy concerns of those posting sexual imagery of adults. Davis told the NYT: “The sexual abuse of children online is abhorrent,” and emphasized that the company employs a rigorous review process that flags more potential CSAM than any other company.

Supermarkets Allowed to Begin Rationing, Says Spain’s Socialist Government

The socialist government of Spain has introduced new laws allowing for the supermarkets to ration food and other items as a part of its “Response Plan” to the economic fallout from the war in Ukraine.

Amid soaring inflation, which hit nearly 10 per cent in March, the Spanish government, controlled by the leftist Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has opened up a legal loophole for supermarkets to begin rationing to customers.

Published on Wednesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) news bulletin website of the government, an amendment was inserted to the Regulation of Retail Trade law of 1996, which previously prohibited businesses from rationing.

The new amendment reads: “Exceptionally, when there are extraordinary circumstances or force majeure that justify it, commercial establishments may temporarily suspend the prohibition… of limiting the number of items that can be purchased by each buyer.”

The government stressed that rationing must be justified, such as in order to prevent shortages, prior to limits being implemented.

Despite the worrying signal from the struggling state, the government’s Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda Raquel Sánchez appealed for calm, saying: “Sometimes there are alarms guided by nervousness. That is what the plan contemplates and I think the important thing is that we make a call for responsibility, that together it is up to us to transmit a message of tranquillity to the citizenry.”

Sánchez said the supermarkets and markets should be “responsible” in how they convey information to the public to prevent panic buying.

The Spanish broadsheet Heraldo de Aragón noted that there has already been some instances of panic buying — likening it to the run on toilet paper during the early stages of the Chinese coronavirus — with consumers rushing to buy sunflower oil related products for fear of shortages. Ukraine and Russia dominate the global sunflower oil market, along with several others.

In addition to the loosening of rationing restrictions, the Spanish government committed to a €16 billion (£13.4 billion/$17.5 billion) loan and aid scheme to ameliorate the impacts of rising energy prices, with the hopes of reducing the cost of petrol by 20 cents per litre.

Spain, which was one of the hardest-hit countries economically in European during the Chinese coronavirus crisis due to the nation’s reliance on tourism, has now seen some of the highest inflation on the continent in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On Wednesday, the country’s official statistician (INE) announced that consumer prices were up 9.8 per cent in March compared to the previous year, jumping from 7.6 per cent in February. The rate at which inflation is rising is currently the highest since 1985.

“This development is due to generalised increases in most of its components. These included increases in electricity prices, in fuels and oil prices, and in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices, higher this month than in March 2021,” the INE said.

Spain is not the only European country preparing for potential rationing, with both Italy and Germany making moves signally possible energy rationing should supplies of Russian gas be cut amid the ongoing dispute with Europe over the war in Ukraine.

Germany Continues Shutdown of Power Plants Despite Growing Energy Crisis

Despite facing a spiralling energy crisis, Germany has continued its Green crusade of shutting down hydrocarbon-fueled power plants.

Germany’s green crusade against fossil fuels has continued to march on during what has been described by other nations as a “chaotic geopolitical context” for energy, with the country taking another hydrocarbon-fueled power station out of service on Friday.

This is despite the fact that the country is facing down one of the worst energy crises in its recent history, at risk of having the majority of its gas supply cut off completely over tensions with Russia.

According to a report by Der Spiegel, a lignite powered station in Neurath which can generate up to 300 megawatts of power will go offline on Friday.

Owned by energy company RWE, the shutdown is reportedly in line with the German government’s coal phase-out programme.

However, the German multinational has said that the plant will be conserved for a little while longer, which will allow it to be brought back online should it be needed.

“Against the background of the current debate about a possible reduction in gas consumption in power generation, RWE will conserve the unit for a short time,” the company reportedly said.

“The company will for now not implement measures that would threaten a recommissioning, for the eventuality that the government decides the plant is temporarily still needed to ensure security of supply,” Reuters meanwhile also notes the group as saying.

Neither the Reuters nor Der Spiegel report contains any reference for exactly how long RWE will refrain from implementing measures “that would threaten a decommissioning” however.

Despite this, the German government seems pleased that the plant will be available for a little while longer should the nation desperately need it, with the Federal Ministry of Economics reportedly welcoming the fact the plant will be conserved.

CENTCOM commander Gen. Frank McKenzie retires after 42 years

U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth “Frank” McKenzie, who has led the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) for the past three years, is retiring from the military after 42 years in service.

According to his service biography, McKenzie began his military career after graduating from The Citadel military college in South Carolina in 1979. He commissioned as an infantry officer and commanded at the platoon, company, battalion, Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and component levels.

McKenzie lead a MEU in combat deployments to Afghanistan in 2004 and Iraq from 2005 to 2006 and served as the Military Secretary to the 33rd and 34th Marine Corps Commandants. Between 2007 and 2008, McKenzie served in the offices of the military’s Joint Staff as a Deputy Director of Operations within the National Military Command Center and Director of the Chairman’s New Administration Transition Team (CNATT), where he oversaw the wartime transition between the George W. Bush and Barack Obama presidential administrations.

McKenzie began his last military assignment in March 2019, leading CENTCOM. In that role, he oversaw all U.S. military operations across a 21-country area of responsibility that spans the Middle East and Central Asia. In that capacity, McKenzie oversaw U.S. combat operations in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

As CENTCOM’s commander, McKenzie oversaw several high-profile military missions, including the U.S. special operations to kill ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in October 2019 and his successor, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, in February of this year.

During his CENTCOM tenure, McKenzie also had a role to play in the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, including the military-led evacuation of approximately 124,000 U.S., Afghan and international civilians from Kabul after the U.S.-backed Afghan government collapsed.

McKenzie oversaw the transition of U.S. troops from a combat role in Iraq to one of advising and assisting Iraqi forces. He also oversaw the transfer of Israel from the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) area of responsibility to CENTCOM’s area of responsibility.

“Commanding CENTCOM has been, without a doubt, the single greatest honor of my 42-year career,” McKenzie said during a retirement ceremony at the Tampa convention center in Florida on Friday. “As I neared the end of my previous assignment as the Director of the Joint Staff, there was only one job left that really interested me—and this is it.”

“For the past 21 years, CENTCOM has been the only combatant command in close and enduring contact with America’s enemies,” McKenzie added. “It’s where every combat arms commander wants to be.”

In a pre-recorded video address broadcast to attendees at the Jerusalem Post London Conference, Jewish Agency CEO Amira Ahronovitz discussed the Agency’s ongoing operation to save Jewish lives in Ukraine. She pointed out one crucial difference between the current refugee crisis and others in Jewish history. “The main difference is that nowadays we have a strong State of Israel that can provide a safe haven with the backing of a strong Jewish people worldwide,” said Ahronovitz.

Jewish Agency professionals prepared for the crisis ahead of time, Ahronovitz explained, and started making contingency plans. The Jewish Agency has had a large-scale presence in the region for many years and was able to immediately deploy assistance where it was needed. “From day one of the war in Ukraine,” noted Ahronovitz, “The Jewish Agency kicked into gear with operations simultaneously launched in four countries bordering Ukraine – Romania, Moldova, Hungary and Poland, where we received thousands of Jewish refugees.” In conjunction with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, The Jewish Agency opened an emergency hotline for Jews in Ukraine, which has received over 28,000 calls. “The scale and complexity of this operation is unlike anything we’ve ever encountered,” said Ahronovitz.

Thousands of Ukrainian Jews have arrived in Israel, and The Jewish Agency expects this number will reach 15,000 in the coming month. Most have arrived in Israel with little belongings other than the clothes on their backs, she reported. “It is clear to us that another major focus needs to be on their long-term integration into Israel. This will be an enormous national effort together with the Ministry of Aliyah and Absorption and other partners to make sure we provide those olim with basic essentials for them in housing, employment, financial assistance, learning Hebrew and much more, all in order for them to begin a successful new life in Israel. We’re also aware of the post-trauma and psychological support that will be needed to help these new Israelis through this devastating time in their lives,” said Ahronovitz.

UK Working Against Peace In Ukraine

The West continues to work against peace in Ukraine. According to recent reports, the British government is “concerned” about the progress of the peace talks, mainly due to Kiev’s alleged initiative to propose significant concessions. The news was published by The Times website, which mentions anonymous British government sources in its text. If the veracity of the information contained in the article is confirmed, this will be further evidence of the destabilizing role played by the UK in the conflict.

According to The Times, Britain is “concerned” that the US, France, and Germany will pressure Ukraine to “settle” quickly and make significant concessions during the recent peace talks with Russia. An anonymous senior British government source reportedly said there were concerns that other Western countries were “eager” to secure a peace deal as soon as possible, encouraging Kiev to accept all Russian-imposed conditions.

This “fear” was allegedly the reason British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky the last weekend. During the conversation, Johnson described Vladimir Putin as a “liar and a bully” and “alerted” that the Russian leader would try to wear down the Ukrainian government and force it to make concessions during the Ankara peace talks, which ended without any relevant results.

The source also stated that the hegemonic thought among British government officials is that Ukraine should reinforce its military measures before seeking a diplomatic solution, using full power against Russian troops. For London, what seems to be the worst-case scenario for Western interests is a retreat by Kiev on territorial issues. In this sense, there should be a maximum effort to bring the military resistance to the last consequences, so that, in addition to international sanctions (which he said that must be increased further), Russia will then be forced to leave Ukraine including from Donbass and Crimea, which Kiev continues to claim.

An interesting point to mention is that Liz Truss, the UK Foreign Minister, said in an interview on Sunday 27 March that Western sanctions on Moscow should only be lifted in the event of a complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the Ukrainian territory. In other words, Truss believes it is necessary to maintain a policy of absolute coercion throughout the entire Russian Special Operation, not admitting the possibility of easing sanctions in advance to initiate a diplomatic dialogue. In fact, it is a position somewhat similar to that pointed out by the anonymous interviewee of The Times, which makes the situation really worrying.

Considering that goodwill and mutual trust are elementary diplomatic principles, it is difficult for any peace talks to be fruitful if one of the parties starts the debate by ruling out withdrawing its troops. Russia has so far reduced the intensity of operations during talks on all occasions that there has been a diplomatic meeting between Russian and Ukrainian relations. So, it would also be diplomatic kindness for the West to at least ease some sanctions during the negotiations, showing willingness to really reach a peaceful end.

War in Ukraine: Europol deploys operational teams to all frontline partner countries

In view of protecting the European Union and Ukrainian refugees from criminal threats, Europol has deployed operational teams to the frontline European countries neighbouring Ukraine within the framework of the Agency’s response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Coming at the request of these countries, Europol now has operational teams in Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova, with an upcoming deployment planned to Hungary.

These teams, comprised of Europol specialists and guest officers, support the national authorities with secondary security checks and investigations at the European external borders to identify criminals and terrorists trying to enter the EU in the refugee flow and exploit the situation. These operational teams are also gathering information in the field, which is used to develop criminal threat assessments at the European level and to support investigations.

These secondary security checks are an important tool to manage the large incoming influx of refugees fleeing Ukraine. Europol has already carried out such a service at the request of EU Member States in the migration hotspots in the Mediterranean as of 2016.

This complements Europol’s active engagement with Ukrainian law enforcement through the Ukrainian liaison officer present at Europol’s headquarters in the Netherlands.

All this intelligence gathering activity is allowing Europol to anticipate developments and coordinate operational activities with EU Member States to respond to the activities of criminal groups seeking to take advantage the war in Ukraine.

As a servant to the people of Queensland and Australia, tonight I’m speaking on this parliament’s therapeutic response to COVID-19 and the horrific medical harm and loss of life in that response. Last week, leading Australian parliamentarians came together in an event I organised called COVID Under Question to present documented evidence and victim testimony proving a catastrophic failure of Australia’s regulatory framework. COVID vaccine injuries are hidden behind anonymous government data, while supposed COVID virus harm is splashed across prime time. The very least we can do for the victims of COVID vaccines is to say their names—victims like Caitlin Georgia Gotze, a healthy and vibrant 23-year-old studying at Griffith University to become a vet while working as a horse strapper. Caitlin dropped dead at work of a heart attack following a second Pfizer shot. Her death was recorded as asthma, a condition Caitlin had never had. Reginald Shearer, a formerly healthy fit and active man, quickly went downhill and passed away from effects that began after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. Daniel Perkins, a 36-year-old healthy father from Albion Park, died of a heart attack in his sleep following his second Pfizer injection. Douglas James Roberts died after taking AstraZeneca. His family are concerned that his GP didn’t warn him of the side-effects of the vaccine. In other words, no informed consent was obtained. Neurosurgeons at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital attributed his death to a stroke, despite no family history and a clean bill of health. They refused to report his death to the TGA—refused!

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency, Ahpra, has been bullying medical practitioners into not reporting or even for talking about the harm they’re seeing. The TGA erased 98 per cent of the 800 vaccine deaths—98 per cent erased!—that physicians reported. The TGA did so without autopsy or suitable consideration of all the patient medical data. TGA, ATAGI and Ahpra are the three monkeys of the pharmaceutical industry: hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.

Section 22D(2) of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 requires the Secretary of the Department of Health to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of the vaccines were satisfactorily established for each cohort for which the provision of approval is being granted. Data recently revealed in court papers in the United States clearly shows that vaccine harm was apparent in the clinical trials that Pfizer, BioNTech and others conducted. This information, if ATAGI had bothered to ask for it, should have resulted in a refusal of the application for provisional use. No data was provided to the secretary regarding individual test subjects—technically, anonymized patient clinical data. No independent analysis of the fundamental issues surrounding novel mRNA vaccines was conducted in Australia—none in Australia! Instead, the secretary took Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna’s word for it.

I will say that again: the secretary took pharmaceutical companies’ word for the safety of their products. These are the same pharmaceutical companies that have been fined over and over for criminal behaviour. AstraZeneca got a US$355 million fine for fraud and, separately, a $550 million fine for making unfounded claims about efficacy. Pfizer got a $430 million fine for making unfounded claims about efficacy, and a $2.3 billion fine—that’s billion dollars—for making unfounded claims about efficacy and for paying kickbacks.

Google adds new “fact checking” to News, will push users to “credible” sources

Google has announced new features for Search and News, aimed at directing users to “credible sources” of information.

Last June, the company started applying labels to search results for “rapidly evolving topics” such as breaking news and viral videos. The labels suggest checking back later when there are more details.

Starting from today, in the US, users will start seeing more labels to help access if the information they are seeing is credible, as determined by Google.

In Google News, the company added a new label for Top Stories that have been cited multiple times by other outlets. Google will also use the label to indicate original reporting.

The new features are currently only available in the US and only in English. The tech giant plans a global rollout in a few weeks.

In another blog post announcing new initiatives, Alphabet and Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said: “We saw how many Ukrainians turned to Search to find up-to-date information, including where to find shelter or humanitarian aid, and relied on air raid alerts on their phones.”

To tackle the issue of “misinformation” and “disinformation,” Google will roll out new features, including Transparency Labels on YouTube and Info Panel in the local languages in Central and Eastern Europe.

Pichai said Alphabet and Google will invest another $10 million in partnerships with civil society organizations and think tanks for region-specific research into disinformation and misinformation. The company will also offer cash grants to fact-checking organizations.

Britnee Aitken, 47, will have her treatment delayed after two girls said she molested them ten years ago when she identified as a truck recovery driver called Marcus.

One of the victims, then six, said she targeted them under the guise of offering to play board games.

They said she poked her genitals through a letter box when they knocked at the front door.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Aitken appeared in the dock wearing a low cut woman's blouse and sporting makeup and long red hair.

She was referred to as 'she' and 'her' during the hearing that saw her convicted of three charges of sexual assault and one of exposure.

She was also ordered to sign the Sex Offender Register for life. She denied any wrongdoing. The Ministry of Justice told MailOnline she will go to a men's prison.

Connecticut – A school nurse was suspended after revealing the school worked at was secretly giving children puberty blockers behind their parents’ backs.

77-year-old Kathleen Cataford was suspended by Hartford Public Schools this week after she revealed the school secretly put an 11-year-old student on puberty blockers in a public comment on Facebook.

“Investigate the school system curriculum…CT is a very socially liberal, gender confused state,” the Facebook post read. “As a public school nurse, I have an 11yo female student on puberty blockers and a dozen identifying as non-binary, all but two keeping this as a secret from their parents with the help of teachers, SSW [social workers] and school administration.”

She continued, “Teachers and SSW are spending 37.5 hours a week influencing our children, not necessarily teaching our children what YOU think is being taught.”

The Superintendent of Harford Public Schools lashed out at Cataford and launched an investigation into the school nurse. the Daily Mail reported.

EU Calls on China to End Russian War on Ukraine

Leadership from the European Union (EU) and China met for a virtual summit April 1, amid increasing tensions over the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) tacit support of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“We called on China to end the war in Ukraine,” said EU President Charles Michel during a press briefing after the meeting. “China cannot turn a blind eye to Russia’s violation of international law.”

The EU took the opportunity to warn the CCP against assisting the Russian war effort more overtly.

“Any attempts to circumvent sanctions or provide aid to Russia would prolong the war,” Michel added. “This would lead to more loss of life and greater economic impact.”

“We will also remain vigilant on any attempts to aid Russia financially or militarily. However, positive steps by China to help end the war would be welcomed by all Europeans and by the global community.”

Michel also said that the EU and CCP were in agreement that the war in Ukraine was a threat to global security.

According to a Chinese readout of the summit, Chinese leader Xi Jinping described the Ukraine crisis as “regrettable.” It also claimed that the regime’s position on the issue was “consistent and clear-cut” and that it “always stands on the side of peace.”

But European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said after the call that Beijing did not offer any assurances to Brussels about its stance on the war.

“China has an influence on Russia. And therefore we expect China to take its responsibility to end this war” and push Russia toward a peaceful solution, she said at a press conference.

Leyen also warned that the regime would suffer “major reputational damage” among the European business community if it stayed on the fence or sided with Russia during the war.

The EU-China summit came a few days after the regime’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Russian counterpart in China, during which Beijing said it was “more determined” to boost bilateral ties with Moscow.

On Feb. 4, Xi and Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced an agreement that China and Russia would maintain a “no limits” partnership, and it was reported by Western intelligence sources that CCP officials knew about Putin’s war plans weeks in advance.

Since then, the CCP has maintained that Russia is its most important strategic partner, and U.S. intelligence leaders have warned that the partnership between China and Russia, and against the West, will only deepen in the coming years.

The CCP has also continually attempted to leverage Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as an opportunity to carry out anti-American and anti-NATO propaganda. It has repeated Russian disinformation about biological weapons labs and actively censors media that refer to the war as an invasion.

Despite claims of expansion, Ukraine was not under consideration for NATO membership. If Ukraine were to have applied to the alliance for membership, it would be denied because NATO’s bylaws prevent any nation from joining that does not maintain territorial integrity. Such has been the case in Ukraine since the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Lawmakers Demand Hunter Biden’s Communications With Obama White House

Several GOP lawmakers sent more letters to the Biden administration demanding records of any communication between Hunter Biden and the White House.

“Hunter Biden’s connections throughout the Russian sphere of influence have now become especially relevant in the fast-moving and developing Russian war in Ukraine,” the Republicans on the House Oversight Committee said in their letters to the White House, dated Thursday, March 31.

They argued that “if the Russian government is attempting to influence American policy in Ukraine by exploiting Hunter Biden’s connection with his father—the President of the United States—the American people deserve to know it,” according to their letter.

The Republicans are seeking “documents and communications” between the White House and “members or associates of the Biden family” from Jan. 20, 2021, to now, the letter said. They’re also seeking a list of “past and ongoing foreign business interests and past and ongoing foreign relations for members of the Biden family.”

Starting about a year ago, the younger Biden started producing artwork, which has been shown during an exhibition in New York. Some of the paintings are reportedly being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, which has led to speculation that he’s using his name and influence to sell the paintings for a higher price, although Biden told outlets that his art is “literally keeping me sane” and dismissed such allegations.

Now, Republicans also are seeking seeking “all documents and communications” from Jan. 20, 2021, to now about Biden’s artwork, while demanding “all policies and procedures in place to ensure the Biden family does not profit from the presidency of Joe Biden.”

House Oversight Republicans said they’re seeking all records between Obama administration officials and “members or associates” of Biden’s family relating to Russia or Ukraine as well as all documents and records relating to Yelena Baturina, one of the richest women in Russia and the wife of a former Moscow mayor, Yuri Luzhkov. There have been allegations that Hunter Biden received millions of dollars from Baturina, which Joe Biden has denied.

Republicans also allege the Biden family made a significant amount of money by leveraging Biden’s political influence when he was a senator from Delaware and when he served as vice president.

“The Biden family has for decades profited from Joe Biden’s positions of public trust. Hunter Biden has particularly benefitted from his father’s success in politics, from managing a Ukrainian energy conglomerate, to selling cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to connecting his father to Kazakhstani oil oligarchs, and preventing a Romanian real estate tycoon’s conviction for bribery charges,” their letter states.

The letters are addressed to Dana Remus, counsel to President Joe Biden, as well as David Ferriero, who heads the National Archives and Records Administration.

White House communications director Kate Bedingfield on Thursday said that Biden was telling the truth in a late 2020 presidential debate that Hunter Biden didn’t make money in China or in other overseas business deals.

“We absolutely stand by the president’s comment,” Bedingfield told reporters. “And I would point you to the reporting on this, which referenced statements that we made at the time, that we gave to The Washington Post, who worked on this story. But as you know, I don’t speak for Hunter Biden so there’s not more I can say on that.”

The Epoch Times has contacted the White House for comment. Hunter Biden’s lawyer has not responded to requests by The Epoch Times for comment.
