"Today's The Last Day" - BuzzFeed Disaster Worsens As News App Shuts Down

Buzzfeed is being forced to tighten its belt (again) by axing its BuzzFeed News app, which comes a little more than a week after reports indicated the money-losing news organization would shut down its newsroom.

On Friday evening, the BuzzFeed News app posted its final notification:

"Well, folks, today's the last day of the BuzzFeed News app. Thanks for the memories and see y'all out there."

The app's demise comes after the company released abysmal first-quarter results. CNBC noted several large investors urged BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti to shutter the company's newsroom – what a novel idea to reduce expenses as the company loses more than $10 million a year.

In February, a hiring freeze was reported as investors were furious with the media company's lack of profitability, ill-advised shopping spree of other media firms, and crashing stock price post-SPAC debut.

Investor redemptions have occurred concurrently as the share price has been halved since the SPAC debut in December.

Clown World: UK Hospitals Are Now Being Encouraged to Ask ALL Men Under 60 if they are PREGNANT Before Getting Medical Procedures

It’s 2022 – up is down, right is wrong, the sky is green, and, yet, men still cannot become pregnant – but don’t tell that to the so-called ‘medical professionals in the UK.

Hospitals across England are embracing the woke new age and are now being encouraged to ask everyone – MAN or woman – if they are pregnant or not before they can get certain medical procedures.

Welcome to the clown world.

New guidance from several National Health Service trusts, which are similar to US State Hospital Associations, is telling UK hospitals to ask the pregnancy question to “all patients under the age of 60, regardless of how [they] may identify [their] gender,” before treatment for certain conditions, according to the UK Telegraph.

The policy change comes after health officials were bullied and pressured by trans activists who claimed that the existence of “single-sex” wards in hospitals amounted to discrimination against trans people, among other baseless assertions.

In fact, just last month, there was a highly publicized case in the UK of a man who claimed to be transgender that was placed in a female hospital ward and raped one of the women. The hospital, in a shameful attempt to protect the ruling class’ agenda, covered up the crime by claiming there was not a “man” staying in the woman’s ward; therefore, the rape was not possible.

Only after a full year did the hospital admit the crime took place.

“A hospital has finally admitted a woman may have been raped by a transgender patient after denying the possibility of an attack for almost a year, the House of Lords has heard.

When police were called to the unnamed hospital in England, they were allegedly told by staff that ‘there was no male’ on the single-sex ward, ‘therefore the rape could not have happened’.

But almost 12 months later, they revealed one of the patients had been trans.

The details of the case were shared by Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne during a debate on single-sex wards in the Upper Chamber yesterday.

She claimed: ‘They forgot that there was CCTV, nurses and observers.

‘None the less, it has taken nearly a year for the hospital to agree that there was a male on the ward and, yes, this rape happened.”

It shouldn’t have to be pointed out that language really does matter, but they are literally changing the definition of “man” and “woman” in order to pull off semantic tricks like this.

Nevertheless, Hospitals in the UK are committing to be more “sensitive” to the trans community, so they are now being encouraged to ask men if they are ‘with child’, just to make sure they don’t offend or confuse anyone.

Florida Rep. Gaetz Rallies State Legislators Against Woke Disney: ‘I’ll Tell You How to Trap This Rodent’

Last month, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared 2022 was “The Year of the Parent” in the Sunshine State — but it’s quickly beginning to look like this might be true for the whole of the country, both politically and culturally, as Florida’s top Republicans face off against Disney’s loyalty to the pressure of the woke mob.

U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida is now rallying his Twitter followers behind DeSantis’ revelation this week that lawmakers are considering working to rescind special protections that Walt Disney World enjoys in the state as the theme park and media giant commits to incorporating more LGBT characters and themes into upcoming productions.

“Things that scare Disney: Municipal dissolution, Copyright expiration, Combined reporting,” Gaetz tweeted along with a link to a story about DeSantis’ Thursday remarks.

“I’m the former Finance & Tax Chairman of the Florida House and I know of what I speak. DMs open for FL legislators,” he added. “I’ll tell you how to trap this rodent.”

You see, in 1967, the state of Florida granted Walt Disney World special legal status which allows it to govern itself municipally through the Reedy Creek Improvement Act.

“Rather than local governments, Disney is in control of everything from construction zoning, building codes and fire department services to controlling its own electricity, roads and water, meaning if the law is repealed, Disney will now have to get government approval for decisions about its operations—which might be harder or take longer to get,” Forbes explained.

Disney was also bailed out of accountability under DeSantis’ Social Media Platforms bill in the 11th hour last year when a provision was included that exempted operators of theme parks, something which the governor said was “was meant solely to protect Disney.”

So, with Disney’s vow to work to repeal the Parental Rights in Education Act, which DeSantis signed on Monday and has been mischaracterized by opponents as the “Don’t Say Gay” law, the state’s Republicans are now floating the idea that the entertainment giant might just no longer be allowed to operate as their own little woke corporate fiefdom under these protections.

Now, there’s an idea.

Also on Thursday, state Rep. Spencer Roach tweeted that “Yesterday was the 2nd meeting in a week w/fellow legislators to discuss a repeal of the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which allows Disney to act as its own government. If Disney wants to embrace woke ideology, it seems fitting that they should be regulated by Orange County.”

Hypocrisy: ‘Republican’ Dr. Oz Has Lavish Fundraiser with ‘Clinton Friend and Epstein Associate’ After Attacking Opponent for ‘Taking Money from Dems’

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the celebrity doctor running as a Republican in Pennsylvania’s 2022 U.S. Senate race, is accused of being a hypocrite after a reportedly lavish “$250,000-a-head fundraiser with [a] Clinton friend and Epstein associate” when he has attacked his most prominent opponent David McCormick for “taking money from [Democrats].”

Dr. Oz in the past has accused McCormick of taking money from “Clinton-loving Democrats” while trying to appear as a strong Republican. However, he had a fundraiser costing a quarter of a million dollars per head with Pepe Fanjul, a friend of Bill Clinton, both of whom were in Jeffery Epstein’s black book of contacts, according to the Daily Mail. The fundraiser was at Fanjul’s farm in Palm Beach.

Fanjul has been a “prominent Republican donor” but has also been cozy with the Clinton family for decades. Last year, Bill Clinton was seen boarding a yacht with the Epstein-connected billionaire sugar baron Pepe Fanjul and his brother Alfonso. At that time, the Daily Mail reported that Clinton and Pepe appeared in Epstein’s “‘black book’ of celebrity, wealthy and influential contacts.”

The Daily Mail reported that after the news of the celebrity doctor’s lavish fundraisers, supporters of McCormick in “Trump world” started to call Dr. Oz a hypocrite. Both candidates have been vying for an endorsement from former President Donald Trump leading up to the May 17 primary.

“Like the hypocritical fraud he truly is, Oz has repeatedly attacked McCormick for receiving donations from former work colleagues who aren’t registered Republicans,” a “Trump world” source told the publication.

“But who do you see when you look behind Oz’s curtain?” the source questioned. “Anti-Trump Hollywood left-wingers, mega-donors to Hillary Clinton and associates of Jeffrey Epstein. … There isn’t a single thing about Oz that doesn’t raise major red flags for republican voters.”

And the communications director for the celebrity doctor, Brittany Yanick, told the Daily Mail that there is nothing hypocritical in taking money from the Epstein- and Clinton-connected billionaire sugar baron and throwing the accusation back at McCormick.

“Pepe Fanjul is a major donor to President Trump and other America First Republicans,” Yanick said. “That’s quite the contrast from the Never Trumpers and liberal Democrats funding Wall Street insider David McCormick’s campaign.”

But, as the Daily Mail noted, McCormick has hired many Trump White House alumni, including Cliff Sims and Stephen Miller. At the same time, a McCormick-aligned super PAC is working with Kellyanne Conway.

Former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) told the Daily Mail that both sides would portray the other as a product of special interests group.

“The Republican Party has changed so much,” Foley said. “Before, it was bankers, lawyers, Wall Street types; now it’s plumbers, pipe fitters, police, firefighters, business owners. … They try to identify someone and make the analogy that somehow they’re bought or sold by a specific interest.”

Disney-Branded Hand Sanitizers Recalled After FDA Detected Carcinogen Benzene and Methanol

Two lots of Disney-branded hand sanitizer featuring Mickey Mouse and baby Yoda from The Mandalorian have been voluntarily recalled by Best Brands Consumer Products, according to a company statement shared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

FDA testing detected the presence of benzene in The Mandalorian branded product and methanol in the Mickey Mouse version. The company was notified of the results in late February.

Benzene is a carcinogen, and substantial exposure can cause leukemia, blood cancer of the bone marrow, and life-threatening blood disorders, the FDA said.

Substantial exposure to methanol can cause serious health problems, including nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system, or death. The FDA noted “young children who accidentally ingest these products, and adolescents and adults who drink these products as an alcohol (ethanol) substitute, are most at risk for methanol poisoning.”

The affected lots of hand sanitizer had already been taken off the market for “unrelated commercial reasons” and the company has received no complaints from customers about the Disney-themed products, according to Best Brands. Both lots were produced by a third-party manufacturer, according to the company statement.

The company warned customers to stop using and discard any items they have from lot 20E21, with an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2022, of The Mandalorian hand sanitizer, that contains 68 percent ethyl alcohol and is available in green and blue 2.11 fl oz bottles.

The Mickey Mouse hand sanitizer from lot 20D21, with a June, 30, 2022, expiry, in blue, 2.11 fl oz bottles should also be discarded.

Customers who experience problems with the product can also report their experiences to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program.
