Anon believes these are the Russian’s next moves in northern Ukraine: They drew the Ukrainians out of the urban areas with a fake retreat and will likely try to encircle them next. I believe the next phase is a full on Blitzkrieg style advance by the Russians with emphasis on encirclement (red arrows on map). I still don’t think the Russians will try to take Kyiv (too urban, too messy).
I believe they will continue the advance in the other areas and stop at the Dnipro river and will use that as the border for the eastern Ukraine they will annex after a possible future treaty. I believe the encirclement of Kyiv by Russia is merely a pressure campaign to have great leverage for a treaty.
