It's worth the struggle to learn.
When I first learned to run Linux, I had installed Puppy Linux on an old computer because the diskspace was too small to run Windows. I had no idea what I was doing but the only way I could have net access was to learn. It's a trial-by-fire method, but it worked.
There's only a few basic commands that you really need to know to get by, then you just add a few more here and there to your toolbox and before you know it, going back to Windows, which I have for academic pursuits, feels very restrictive. I have my Windows machine for running VM's on hacking sites because some boxes (hacking aka: pen-testing term for virtual computers) require that you run Windows.
learning is fun. If it doesn't feel fun, desensitize yourself by drinking nothing but water and staying offline for a week to 10 days.
