NIH Working To Keep Taxpayers In The Dark by Stalling On Fauci Docs: Transparency Advocate

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is attempting to keep money spent on things like Dr. Anthony Fauci’s salary, the highest-paid U.S. government employee, hidden from members of the public, according to a transparency advocate.

“There is a multi-layered strategy, funded by taxpayers, to keep taxpayers in the dark about how NIH is spending taxpayer money,” Adam Andrzejewski, CEO and founder of OpenTheBooks.com, told Epoch TV’s “American Thought Leaders.”

Andrzejewski’s watchdog group discovered how much Fauci was getting paid and that he received a permanent pay bump in the early 2000s in part to prevent him from leaving the government.

In an effort to learn more about the top doctor, the group filed a Freedom of Information Act request on Jan. 28, 2021, asking for Fauci’s job description, disclosure documents, and other papers.

The NIH produced 51 pages of records in response to the request but did not provide any additional documents, nor did the agency produce records in response to two more requests from the group about documents related to Fauci, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.

“They’re not complying with open records law,” Andrzejewski said, triggering the suit and dozens of others from various groups.

The NIH said it did not violate the law. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, an Obama appointee, ordered the parties to try to work out a solution. The parties agreed to a production schedule of 300 pages a month but so far, the produced pages have amounted to “virtually nothing of any value,” Andrzejewski said, in part because some of the pages have been largely redacted.

Fauci has directed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. The institute, part of the NIH, did not respond to a request for comment.

Andrzejewski, who was removed as a Forbes contributor because of his reporting on Fauci, said he expects to see waivers for conflicts of interest, including a waiver regarding the doctor’s wife, Christine Grady, because she is the chief bioethics official at NIH.

The documents being sought “should be immediately released by the NIH,” he added.

“We shouldn’t be having to engage in expensive litigation to open the books on Dr. Anthony Fauci or even to call for a nice repository of all the ethical studies from his wife, Christine Grady. All of this should be opened up. And this has public policy implications. If the Republicans take control the House, there is going to be endless oversight investigations of this entire COVID-19 response, with Dr. Fauci at the nexus of that hurricane. And so right now, they should get out in front of all of it and just open the books on everything, so the politicians, the pundits, the media, the people, so we can see how the sausage was made from A to Z.”

Russia’s media regulator on Tuesday threatened to fine Wikipedia nearly $50,000 if the online encyclopedia doesn’t delete “material with inaccurate information” about its attack on Ukraine.

Roskomnadzor, the communications regulator, has accused Wikipedia of hosting “false information” on what Russia calls its “special operation” in Ukraine and on the actions of Russia’s military too.

“Recently, materials have been posted on Wikipedia that disseminates unreliable information on the subject of a special military operation in Ukraine,” Roskomnadzor said in a statement posted on Telegram. “Wikipedia should remove materials with unreliable information of public interest.”

“The authors of articles posted on Wikipedia deliberately misinform Internet resource users with frankly false information,” it said. “In the articles published, an exclusively anti-Russian interpretation of events is promoted.”

Larry Sanger, a co-founder of Wikipedia, warned last July that the online encyclopedia is “more one-sided than ever” and “with few exceptions, only globalist, progressive mainstream sources—and sources friendly to globalist progressivism—are permitted.”

According to Russian law, Roskomnadzor can fine administrators of an Internet resource by up to 4 million roubles ($48,120.30) if it fails to remove materials deemed illegal by Moscow, the regulator said.

German Authorities Shut Down ‘World’s Largest And Longest-Running’ Darknet Market, Seize $25M in Bitcoin

The Justice Department announced today the seizure of Hydra Market (Hydra), the world’s largest and longest-running darknet market. In 2021, Hydra accounted for an estimated 80% of all darknet market-related cryptocurrency transactions, and since 2015, the marketplace has received approximately $5.2 billion in cryptocurrency.

The seizure of the Hydra servers and cryptocurrency wallets containing $25 million worth of bitcoin was made this morning in Germany by the German Federal Criminal Police (the Bundeskriminalamt), in coordination with U.S. law enforcement.

Hydra was an online criminal marketplace that enabled users in mainly Russian-speaking countries to buy and sell illicit goods and services, including illegal drugs, stolen financial information, fraudulent identification documents, and money laundering and mixing services, anonymously and outside the reach of law enforcement. Transactions on Hydra were conducted in cryptocurrency and Hydra’s operators charged a commission for every transaction conducted on Hydra.

In conjunction with the shutdown of Hydra, the department also announced criminal charges against Dmitry Olegovich Pavlov, 30, a resident of Russia, for conspiracy to distribute narcotics and conspiracy to commit money laundering, in connection with his operation and administration of the servers used to run Hydra.

Sydney police officer messaged 'love them' after being sent child abuse videos by Catholic priest on WhatsApp, court hears

A senior Sydney police officer allegedly responded "love them" and "very funny" after being sent child abuse videos by a Catholic priest, a court has heard.

The court heard one of the videos included a couple having sex in front of a toddler while the other clip showed a boy's genitals.

Prosecutors have continued their case against Mr Hanna despite last month withdrawing all three child abuse charges against Father Joseph Kolodziej, a parish priest who worked at All Hallows Catholic Parish in Five Dock.

During final submissions on Tuesday, Prosecutor Lisa Stueckradt told the Liverpool Local Court hearing that videos were sent by Father Joseph to Mr Hanna via encrypted chat service WhatsApp between January and March 2021.

Ms Stueckradt told the court that one of the videos, depicting two young people engaging in sexual intercourse, was offensive to a reasonable person.

"Your Honour will comfortably find that both persons are, or appear to be, well below the age of 16," Ms Stueckradt said.

A second video was described by the prosecution as "voyeuristic" in nature depicting a "very young child", partially clothed, in the same room as two adults having sex.

A witness had given evidence that she "felt sick" when Mr Hanna showed her part of the video, Ms Stueckradt said.

Mr Hanna's barrister, Troy Edwards, told the court the material could have been saved in his client's images folder without him being aware of it, which he said is a setting option in WhatsApp.

"Your Honour really has no direct evidence he had knowledge or possession of it," Mr Edwards told the court.

Mr Edwards said his client responded, "very funny" and "love them" to a string of messages from Father Joseph, a general answer which did not specify whether he was aware of the illegal videos among the other content.

He said he doubted whether some of the children were underage, reminding the magistrate he had to be convinced "beyond reasonable doubt" to convict Mr Hanna.

The judgement was adjourned until May 9, with Mr Hanna's bail continued.

Father Joseph's charges, which included possessing child abuse material and two counts of using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material, were withdrawn by the DPP on March 2 at Burwood Local Court.

He was stood down from his role at All Hallows Catholic Parish and will have to apply to the Office of the Children's Guardian before he can again work as a priest.

The Children's Guardian said it could not comment on Father Joseph's situation for privacy reasons.

The NSW Director of Public Prosecutions and the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions have been contacted for comment.

While this particular proposal has been widely welcomed, some expressed concerns over the new law also preventing therapists from helping children with 'gender dysphoria' to decide whether they really want to transition.

Campaigners warned the legislation was so badly drafted that teachers could end up in court if they do not let boys play in girls' sports teams.

It was claimed last week that the Prime Minister had decided to ditch the plan – but Mr Johnson later confirmed that a law banning conversion therapy will indeed be in the Queen's Speech next month, although it will not cover transgender therapy.
