Ambien Tale…

Anonspouse woke me at 3am. Said she heard someone in house. I got pistol out, clicked it and went into the den.

There was a guy standing in my kitchen, just staring into space. Then a weimariner walked behind him, licking his hand. Blood was running from his fingertips. I drew down on him and said, "Who are you and wtf are you doing in my house?"

He turned slowly, and said, "Oh hi. I was trying to return your fish fryer, but couldn't find your house." He was unarmed, bleeding from a cut on his arm and I thought he was wasted.

I got him outside talking to him. Anonspouse called cops. He wandered off into the street, and cops found him and took him home.

Cops came by and said they thought he was wasted too, until his wife said he had taken his new sleeping pills. Told them it was Ambien, and they told her to throw that shit away. They have been seeing this for over 5 years on a monthly basis.

Next day he knocked on my door with his wife, and thanked me for not shooting him. Told me he had taken Ambien for the first time and had no idea what he had done. She was in tears and he was visibly afraid and shaking talking to me.

Doctors should not be able to even prescribe this shit - I almost shot an innocent guy because of this crap.

Very low crime here with 100 people/officer. Now doors remain locked. The dog was his dog - mine was old, cataracts and half deaf, and passed away a few weeks after this incident. So a guy and his dog came into my home while my old geezer dog slept by SWMBO.

The guy being out of it and the dog being loyal and normal was what kept me from pulling the trigger. I simply got zero threat vibe and knew I had the drop on him. It makes all the difference when that safety clicks off - shit gets very real.

New dog half rotty and half lab and all black - nobody gets near with him.
