In the woods directly behind my house, there are several fox dens. There are mounds of overturned soul ( dirt which was dig from the ground and posited outside the hole being dug) at/near the base of a tree/shrub. Pretty obvious some critter(s) live there.
As a kid I was told by a farmer that “if you ever see a fox during the day ( they are nocturnal creatures, but not exclusively, they will scout nearby their den) stay away from it because there’s something wrong with it, like rabies or other illness.
There’s many comms in this “Fox Attacks Dem Congressman. Bites him” story!
