Handsome young man joins the Union army. Captured. Little food on either side. Young man put on a prison transport train. Made a stop to feed the prisoners. Every prisoner received a handful of corn. That's all that was available. They had not eaten in several days. Those who hurriedly scarfed it down had it immediately come back up and hit the ground, whereby the surrounding prisoners dove on it and fought over who could eat it first.
