At the very last minute, Georgia’s corrupt Governor and Lieutenant Governor stepped in and blocked an election integrity bill that would make major positive changes to the state’s election process.

A key integrity provision to unseal Georgia election ballots was blocked at the last minute on Sine Die by Gov. Brian Kemp and Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan. Duncan prevented the Senate from confirming House changes to SB89 which included language to unseal Georgia election ballots and improve ballot chain of custody procedures. SB89 language would have allowed counterfeit ballots to be detected and electronic votes to be verified. Those provisions are essential to deter fraud in upcoming elections.

Legislators made ballot images public records in 2021 but a year-long, statewide VoterGA analysis found it impossible to use them to verify the 2020 election results. VoterGA produced a 15-point analysis that revealed electronic tampering in over 500,000 ballot images prior to certification. Another VoterGA study determined well over a million ballots across 70 counties were lost or destroyed despite federal and state retention law. Experts previously concluded in court that all of the nearly 5 million images stored have inadequate resolution to authenticate the corresponding ballots. Counterfeit ballots were discovered in the Nov. 2020 Fulton County hand count audit by four senior poll managers and two audit monitors.

These people are purely corrupt and against the people of Georgia. They can’t be gone soon enough. They label themselves Republicans.

Kemp certified the 2020 Election despite a plethora of issues embedded in the election results. Now there is information about ballot mules dropping illegal ballots in drop boxes inserted in the state. After watching the below, why would anyone try to prevent better chain of custody regulations in the state?

Mike Lindell Claims Overseas Ballots Including Military Ballots Were Stolen for Joe Biden — We Have Proof This Happened in Several Battleground States

Business mogul Mike Lindell joined Steve Bannon on The War Room on Thursday morning. During their discussion, Mike Lindell told Steve he has evidence that all of the overseas ballots in 2020 were marked for Joe Biden. The ballots were tampered with and the votes all went to Biden.

The Gateway Pundit has reported extensively on this 2020 voter fraud scheme in several battleground states.

We have reported on several instances in three swing states that back up Mike Lindell’s claims.

During an Arizona Senate session back in February, the discussion turned to the UOCAVA voters — the voters covered under the Uniform Overseas Civilian Absentee Voting Act. These are the men and women who are serving their country in the military and send in a mail-in vote from where they are stationed outside the country.

The act officially covers:

members of the United States Uniformed Services and merchant marine;

their family members; and

United States citizens residing outside the United States.

During the hearing, Paul Harris, a Maricopa resident and veteran in corporate executive management, spoke to the committee. Harris was a manager during the audit of the Maricopa County audit of the 2020 election ballots.

Paul Harris was tasked with overseeing the UOCAVA ballots during the audit. He described his experience.

Paul Harris: The UOCAVA is the Uniform Overseas Civilian Absentee Voting Act ballot. That ballot is sent out to men and women who work overseas and the people who work overseas to get a chance to work in the election. This is what a ballot looks like that goes out, an 11 1/2 X 19 ballot. When I opened up a box of ballots this is what a ballot looks like that’s a UOCAVA ballot. You know what that is? It’s an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of copy paper.

Paul Harris continued: “Did you all know that our ballots come back like this from our overseas people? Did any of you know thia? It is such a sham that I had people everyday at my table taking pictures of these ballots that were scanned down. It took my team three complete days to count all of the UOCAVA ballots. You know why? Because in 2016 the numbers were apparently 1,600 UOCAVA ballots that came back in the most significant election in our lifetime. In 2020 the numbers were close to 9,600 ballots that came back. And I will tell you as an eye-witness, 95%… all went towards one candidate. And in a state where a candidate won by 10,000 votes that is 8,000 new votes during an election where people were brought home because there was a pandemic… No chain of custody. There’s nothing to identify where this piece of paper came from.

After China Threatens 'Forceful Measures' Over Taiwan Visit, Pelosi Suddenly Tests Positive For COVID, Postponing Trip

There are widespread reports that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan on Sunday, which some are still chalking up to "rumor" given that neither Taipei officials nor Pelosi's office have confirmed the trip, which would be the first time since 1997 that a US House speaker visited the island (when Republican Newt Gingrich did).

Beijing was quick to slam the trip, urging the US to cancel it immediately, with Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian saying China opposes all forms of such official interaction between the US and Taiwan. He lodged official protest, saying it would violate "one-China" understanding between Beijing and Washington and further would falsely signal pro-independence forces - for which a forceful response would be warranted.

Zhao said in a press briefing, "If she does visit, China will take strong measures and the consequences will be borne by the US," according to Bloomberg, though without providing details as to what these threatened consequences would be.

She's expected in Japan this weekend, and it's being reported from there she'll head to Taiwan, with NBC writing that "The possible visit has not been confirmed by Pelosi’s office or Taiwan’s government, but some Japanese and Taiwanese media reported it would take place after she visits Japan this weekend."

While there have been about a half-dozen US official delegation visits to Taiwan over the last couple years, Pelosi would be by far the most high profile current US government figure, also given that as House speaker she's second in the presidential line of succession after the vice president.

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) spokeswoman Joanne Ou has not yet confirmed the visit. She merely said all "friends" in the US have an invitation to visit the democratic-run island. "We will make details of any such trip public when we are able to do so," Ou said.

President Trump’s Motion to Disqualify Clinton-Appointed Judge in Case Against Hillary Clinton Is Denied by Same Clinton-Appointed Judge

On Tuesday President Trump requested that the Clinton-appointed judge overseeing his Russiagate case against Hillary Clinton and others be removed from the case due to obvious conflicts of interest.

President Trump recently sued a number of individuals and former officials for their actions related to the Russiagate hoax and attempted coup of his administration.

Somehow this case was assigned to Clinton appointed Judge Middlebrooks and Judge Ryon McCabe.

President Trump urged the courts to replace the Clinton judge with someone who is not biased in the case.

On Wednesday Judge Ryon McCabe recused himself from the case.

But Judge Middlebrooks will not recuse himself from the case.

Last night Judge Donald Middlebrooks announced he will deny President Trump’s motion to approve Judge Middlebrooks from the case.

Russia suspended from UN Human Rights Council

The US proposed the move after videos alleging atrocities in Bucha, Ukraine

The United Nations’ General Assembly voted on Thursday to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council. The resolution, proposed by the US, received 93 votes, with 24 members opposed and 58 abstaining.

China, a fellow permanent Security Council member, was a prominent “no” vote. Among the abstentions, the most noteworthy were India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.

US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield had called for Russia to be removed from the 47-nation body on Monday, calling its participation a “farce,” after videos and photos emerged from the town of Bucha, near Kiev, showing the dead bodies of what appeared to be civilians. Ukraine and the US accused Russia of conducting a massacre, a charge that Moscow has vehemently denied.

“We believe that the members of the Russian forces committed war crimes in Ukraine, and we believe that Russia needs to be held accountable,” Thomas-Greenfield said on Monday.

When Moscow called for an emergency Security Council session on the investigation of the alleged atrocities, on Monday, the UK – currently presiding over the body – initially refused, but the matter was considered the next day, in a different format. The US and its allies ratcheted up sanctions against Russia, this week.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba cheered Thursday’s vote. “War criminals have no place in UN bodies aimed at protecting human rights. Grateful to all member states which supported the relevant UNGA resolution and chose the right side of history,” he tweeted.

Moscow has said that attempts to expel Russia from the Human Rights Council are political and undertaken by countries who seek to continue “the politics of neo-colonialism of human rights” in international relations.

Gennady Gatilov, Russia’s ambassador to the UN mission in Geneva, called the US resolution “unfounded and purely emotional bravado that looks good on camera — just how the US likes it,” and accused Washington of “exploiting” the Ukrainian crisis for its own benefit.

Back in June 2018, during the presidency of Donald Trump, the US itself resigned from the Human Rights Council itself, denouncing many of its members as “authoritarian governments” with “abhorrent human rights records.” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said at the time that Washington “will not take lectures from hypocritical bodies and institutions, as America… selflessly gives its blood and treasure to help the defenseless.” The Joe Biden administration returned to the UN body in October 2021.

The only other country ever to be expelled from the UN Human Rights Council was Libya, in 2011, as NATO bombed the North African country to help militants overthrow the government of Muammar Gaddafi.

Fact Checkers Silent as 8yo Image Goes Viral, Claiming It’s a “Russian Mobile Crematorium” in Mariupol

There is no doubt a slew of war crimes currently being committed in Ukraine by the Russian invading forces. War is hell and it drives people on all sides to carry out atrocities which are unthinkable to most.

As this outlet has reported for the last six weeks, Vladimir Putin is a war criminal whose actions have taken the lives of hundreds of civilians in Ukraine, including many women and children. There is no shortage of evidence of these crimes which makes one wonder, why on Earth legacy media would take to faking it, which begs the next question of why fact checkers aren’t fact checking it?

We are told that fact checkers exist to ensure that disinformation and lies do not go viral and so people have a meter pointing them in the direction of the truth. However, time and again, these fact checkers are exposed pushing the establishment narrative — facts be damned — instead of actually seeking that truth.

A telling example of fact checkers pushing narratives rather than seeking facts can be found in a recent tweet and article about an alleged “Russian mobile crematorium” being used to burn “tens of thousands” of bodies, supposedly killed by Russian forces in Mariupol.

“Mobile crematoria in #Mariupol,” the tweet states, claiming that Russia has carried out a mass genocide.

“Mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko said today that #Russian mobile crematoria have started operating in the city.”

“According to him, tens of thousands of people could have died in Mariupol and the cremation, “covering up the traces of crimes.”

The tweet was accompanied by an image of one of these alleged mobile crematoriums.

Senate Votes to End Normal Trade Relations, Oil Imports With Russia

The Senate on Thursday morning voted to end normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus and to bar Russian oil imports into the United States in response to the nations’ invasion of Ukraine.

The bill to end normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus passed in a 100–0 vote, a rare event in increasingly divided Washington. The bill to ban Russian imports of oil also was approved in a 100–0 vote.

“It’s a big, big deal that we are finally getting them done,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Wednesday after he announced the legislation. “Now, I wish this could have happened sooner, but after weeks of talks with the other side, it’s important that we have found a path forward.”

The measures have already won the support of President Joe Biden, who has long called for Congress to take up such legislation. In March, Biden announced an oil ban, which is now codified by the support of the Senate.

In an address at the beginning of March, Biden said he will sign bipartisan legislation that will revoke Russia’s permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) status with the United States, making it more difficult for Russia to do business with the West.

Biden said the move to end normal trade relations with Russia was done in coordination with Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin must pay the price,” Biden said. “He cannot pursue a war that threatens the very foundations of international peace and stability, and then ask for financial help from the international community.”

Biden also said the United States is banning Russian imports of goods such as seafood, vodka, and diamonds. It’s also banning the export of luxury goods into Russia and increasing the list of Russian individuals to be sanctioned.

Efforts to ban the importation of Russian oil began on March 3, when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) led a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers in pushing for a bill that would do just that.

However, as a corollary proposal to his bill Manchin demanded an end to Biden administration policies that have limited the extraction of oil in the United States, particularly oil on federal lands.

Kremlin Rejects New Ukraine Draft Peace Deal as ‘Unacceptable’

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday said Moscow rejects Ukraine’s latest draft peace proposal and claimed Western powers are trying to undermine negotiations between the two sides.

After the “Ukrainian side presented its draft agreements to our negotiators,” Russian officials claimed it was a “clear departure from key provisions that were committed to at the meeting in Istanbul” last week, Lavrov said, according to state-run media Sputnik News.

Lavrov did not elaborate on the details of Ukraine’s draft proposal, but he said that “it offers vague formulations about some kind of ‘effective control’, and ‘as of 23 February,'” without elaborating. Feb. 23 refers to the day before Russia invaded Ukraine.

“It’s likely that at the next stage, the Ukrainian side will ask for the withdrawal of troops, and pile up more and more preconditions. This plan is understandable, but it is unacceptable,” he remarked.

A day earlier, the minister claimed that Russia-Ukraine peace talks aren’t going as quickly as planned and blamed the West for focusing on allegations from Ukrainian officials that Russian forces massacred civilians in Bucha, located near Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Kyiv officials claimed that genocidal actions were carried out in the suburb over the past weekend, while Russia has categorically denied their allegations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday also accused the West of trying to undermine negotiations for continuing to supply Ukraine’s military with weapons and equipment, according to Sputnik. Such actions, he claimed, “will more likely have a negative effect.”

Ukraine stepped up its calls on Thursday for financial sanctions crippling enough to force Moscow to end the war as its officials rushed to evacuate civilians from cities and towns in the east before an anticipated major Russian offensive there.

“Once and for all, we can teach Russia and any other potential aggressors that those who choose war always lose,” Zelenskyy said in an address to the Greek parliament. “Those who blackmail Europe with economic and energy crisis always lose.”

Earlier this week, the United States and European countries said they would place more sanctions on Russia’s economy and leadership, including penalties against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two adult daughters and banning U.S. investment in Russia. The Biden administration also called for Russia to be booted from the Group of 20 major economies.

Meanwhile, following an election this week, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told reporters Wednesday that his country will likely pay for Russian natural gas in rubles, which was demanded by Moscow about a week ago

Major Outage in Puerto Rico Leaves Over 1 Million Without Power

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico—More than a million customers in Puerto Rico remained without electricity on Thursday after a major power outage hit the U.S. territory Wednesday night, forcing it to cancel classes and shutter government offices.

The blackout also left some 160,000 customers without water and snarled traffic across the island of 3.2 million people, where the roar of generators and smell of diesel filled the air. Those who could not afford generators and have medical conditions such as diabetes, which depends on refrigerated insulin, worried about how much longer they’d be without power.

Long lines formed at some gas stations as people sought fuel for generators. Others tried to charge their cellphones at businesses in scenes reminiscent of the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which struck as a Category 4 storm in 2017.

Officials in at least one city distributed food to hundreds of elderly people as well as ice to those whose medication must be kept cool.

“This is horrible,” said Luisa Rosado, a mother of two who lives in the San Juan neighborhood of Río Piedras.

She said she and her husband had sacrificed their savings to install a solar electricity system at their home after Hurricane Maria, which left them with at least partial power following the blackout.

She said her neighbors had been outraged by recent increases in power bills, which were already higher than in most U.S. states.

“To increase bills when you don’t provide a perfect service … the level of impunity is absurd,” Rosado said.

Luma, the company that took over transmission and distribution from Puerto Rico’s Electric Power Authority last year, said the blackout could have been caused by a circuit-breaker failure at the Costa Sur generation plant—one of four main plants on the island.

The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority posted a video on Twitter of a fire at the plant in Guayanilla, a town in southwest Puerto Rico, on Wednesday night.

“The system is being restored little by little,” said Kevin Acevedo, a vice president of Luma, adding that the company is trying to complete the work within 24 hours. “The people of Puerto Rico have to understand that it’s a system with a lot of years. Bringing back Puerto Rico’s system is a delicate and complicated process.”

Luma said the exact cause of the interruption is unknown.

“It’s going to require an exhaustive investigation,” Acevedo said, adding that that the equipment whose failure sparked the fire had been properly maintained.

Officials said at least three generation units were back online by Thursday, with crews working to restore more.

Luma CEO Wayne Stensby called it a “very unusual” outage that “clearly indicates the fragility of the system.”

Report: U.S. Banks Flagged Over 150 Suspicious Financial Transactions from Biden Family

U.S. banks flagged over 150 suspicious financial transactions from Hunter and James Biden, according to CBS News on Wednesday.

The great number of wire transfers included “large” amounts of money tripped for further review by American banks, CBS News reported about the Biden family business operations.

For years, wire transfers have been the tool of choice for money launderers. To mitigate the risks to the financial institutions, suspicious wire transfers over $10,000 are flagged for review. Wire transactions involving more than $10,000 are also to be reported to the Internal Revenue Service.

Moreover, international wire payments, such as those to James and Hunter, are monitored by the Office of Foreign Assets Control to ensure the money is not a part of corrupt business schemes.

A grand jury is currently investigating the Biden family for tax fraud, money laundering, and the violation of lobbying laws in relation to corrupt business deals undertaken while President Joe Biden was in top positions in the U.S. government.

James and Hunter Biden were both directly paid by Chinese entities and promised retainer fees for their China work, totaling $165,000, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) told CBS News.

The wire transfers could be the intake component of a greater payout mechanism. In 2019, Hunter revealed in texts the Biden family’s payout vehicle. The detailed mechanism indicates a collection of 50 percent of familial salaries for 30 years.

“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” Hunter described in texts to his daughter. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike Pop [Joe], I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

According to emails from Hunter’s laptop, Hunter paid Joe Biden’s phone bill and various expenses while Joe Biden served as vice president, the New York Post reported:

[W]hile Joe was vice president, Hunter routinely paid at least some of his father’s household expenses, including AT&T bills of around $190 a month.

We know from an e-mail on June 5, 2010, with the subject “JRB bills” to Hunter from Eric Schwerin, his business partner at Rosemont Seneca, that he was expected to foot hefty bills to Wilmington contractors for maintenance and upkeep of his father’s palatial lakefront property. Joe’s initials are JRB, for Joseph Robinette Biden.

The bills that June included $2,600 to contractor Earle Downing for a “stone retaining wall” at Joe’s Wilmington estate, $1,475 to painter Ronald Peacock to paint the “back wall and columns” of the house, and $1,239 to builder Mike Christopher for repairs to the air conditioning at the cottage of Joe’s late mother, Jean “Mom-Mom” Biden, which was on his property and which he would later rent to the Secret Service for $2,200 a month.

According to former Utah U.S. attorney Brett Tolman, the Biden family’s payment mechanism may reveal the core of an entrenched business enterprise, which could involve legal “predicates” for racketeering charges.

Reports indicate Hunter and Joe shared bank accounts.

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley believes a special counsel should be appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to study Hunter’s corruption. Turley noted Joe Biden has denied any wrongdoing by Hunter and may have influenced the ongoing investigation

Fox Tests Positive for Rabies After Biting 9 People on Capitol Hill

The fox that menaced Capitol Hill earlier this week, biting a U.S. Congressman and at least eight other people, has tested positive for rabies, the Washington, DC, Health Department announced Wednesday.

“The DC Public Health lab has confirmed the fox that was captured yesterday tested positive for the rabies virus,” the agency said, according to TODAY. “D.C. Health is contacting all human victims who were bitten by the fox.”

D.C. Health stated that the fox was “humanely euthanized so that rabies testing may be done” following its two-day biting spree on Monday and Tuesday, the Agence France-Presse reported

The city agency noted that on Wednesday morning, the animal’s offspring were discovered and captured, ABC News reported.

D.C. Health said:

The fox was an adult female and kits were found and captured in the area where the fox was from earlier this morning. If this fox is determined to be the parent of the kits, they will be sent to a wildlife rehabilitation center, otherwise they will be relocated in the area they were found.

The fox bit Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA) on Monday while he was on his way to the Capitol, the Associated Press noted. Bera began rabies postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) Tuesday, according to TODAY.

“Rabies PEP includes one dose of human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) and four doses of rabies vaccine given over two weeks,” New York City’s Department of Health reports. “HRIG provides immediate protection while the vaccine helps your body’s immune system fight the virus.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that one to three human rabies cases occur in the U.S. annually, with just 25 instances taking place between 2009 and 2019. Only two of the twenty-five people who contracted the virus over that time survived.

The number of human rabies deaths in the United States has been steadily declining since the 1970’s thanks to animal control and vaccination programs, successful outreach programs, public health capacity and laboratory diagnostics, and the availability of modern rabies biologics.

Annually, anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 people exposed to the virus receive rabies PEP to prevent infection, according to the CDC.

Hungary To Pay for Russian Gas in Rubles As EU Looks To Increase Sanctions

As the European Union considers new sanctions against Russia, the Hungarian government has stated that it would be willing to pay for Russian gas supplies in rubles if Moscow demanded payment in its national currency.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who won a landslide national election victory in Sunday’s elections, told the media that his country would pay for Russian gas in roubles if the Russian government requested payment in the currency.

Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has also claimed that the European Union has no say in the country’s gas contracts as the deal was negotiated between companies in Hungary and Russia bilaterally, Reuters reports.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree requiring “unfriendly” nations to pay for Russian gas in roubles after European countries, along with the United States and others, enacted sanctions against Russia following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.

“They must open ruble accounts in Russian banks. It is from these accounts that payments will be made for gas delivered starting tomorrow, April 1,” President Putin said last week.

Some European politicians have called for the European Union member states to embargo Russian gas following the alleged massacre in the suburbs of Kyiv, which some have attributed to Russian forces who left the area.

The Baltic nation of Lithuania agreed to embargo all Russian gas supplies, while countries like Germany and Austria — which is dependent on gas imports to keep the economy alive — have refused such a proposal. Austria imports as much as 80 per cent of its natural gas from Russia, while Germany imports just over half of its gas from the country.

“Cutting the gas tap so much overnight would have a serious impact on our daily lives, our energy supply and our economy,” Georg Knill, President of the Federation of Austrian Industries, stated last month and added, “To be clear on this: we cannot sustain the economy as we know it without gas from Russia.”

Hungary is also highly dependent on Russian gas imports, likely explaining the country’s desire to maintain supplies despite the political cost of bending to Moscow’s will in a time of war.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, meanwhile, announced a new sanctions package against Russia this week that will also affect Russian oil exports and will ban the import of Russian coal into Europe.

“These sanctions will not be our last sanctions,” Von der Leyen said and added, “Now we have to look into oil and revenues Russia gets from fossil fuels.”

Farage: EU ‘Funding Putin’s War Machine’, as Bloc Admits Spending €35bn on Russian Gas Since Invasion

Brexit leader Nigel Farage has accused the European Union of rank hypocrisy for “funding Putin’s war machine”, as the bloc admitted to spending €35 billion on Russian gas since the invasion of Ukraine.

Once again taking up the mantle of criticising the globalist bloc, Nigel ‘Mr Brexit’ Farage said that German and other EU member states are propping up the Russian economy with one hand while sanctioning the country not the other.

“Not only is the Russian ruble back to where it was before the invasion, but the Germans keep buying huge volumes of gas and oil. Germany and other EU states are funding Putin’s war machine,” Mr Farage wrote on social media.

The statement came after the European Union’s Foreign Affairs and Security Policy representative, Josep Borrell told the European Parliament that since Putin launched the invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24th, some €35 billion (£29/$38 billion) has been sent to Russia from EU member states in exchange for natural gas.

At the same time, the EU has sent some one billion euros (£0.83/$1.09 billion) worth of weapons and other armaments to Ukraine, the foreign policy chief admitted.

“It might seem a lot, but €1 billion is what we pay [Vladimir] Putin every day for the energy he provides us,” the Spanish politician said per Britain’s Daily Telegraph.

“Since the beginning of the war, we have given him €35 billion, compared to the €1 billion we have given Ukraine in arms and weapons.”

The Eurocrat used the striking figures to bolster his call for more sanctions on Russia and for the bloc to send more weapons to Ukraine.

“We have to keep arming Ukraine. We need less rounds of applause and more assistance. We want to say less that Mr Zelensky is a hero and give more weapons. That is what the Ukrainians expect and that’s what we’re doing,” Borrell said.

Ukraine behaved somewhat recklessly toward its large and ruthless Russian neighbor, and it was left alone to deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

For Israel, this is evidence that its self-reliance doctrine must be nourished with no illusions about foreign support in times of crisis. Despite its public support for Ukraine and the sanctions imposed on Russia, the West is not ready to send its soldiers to defy aggression.

Indeed, the Ukraine predicament points out again the lack of value of international guarantees.

The 1994 Budapest Memorandum, signed by the Russian Federation, the UK, and the US, provided security assurances against threats or the use of force against the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons. The memorandum was not respected when Russia conquered Crimea in 2014. The inaction of the guarantors was repeated in 2022.

International institutions similarly failed in providing security. For example, the US called a UN Security Council meeting to discuss Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, knowing that Russia has veto power. This so-called “preventive diplomacy” in Washington ended in futile angry clashes between Russian and American envoys.

The war in Ukraine also showed Israel’s growing international stature. It is one of the few countries that maintained direct contact with all parties. Its attempts to mediate between the warring protagonists were well appreciated. This allows Israel greater leeway in maneuvering in the international arena, alleviating the pressures to identify with the West and support sanctions against Russia.

Israel’s national security imperatives dictated caution versus Russia, which is militarily involved in Syria.

Countries that believe that there are no real “bad guys” in the international system suddenly realize that having armed enemies on their borders ready to wage war is possible.

Maybe, going forward, the international community will better understand Israel’s predicament in a tough neighborhood.

Further, Israel is an energy exporter when there is greater scarcity in the international market. This adds to its global status.

The new situation also influences Israel-Turkey relations. The Turkish efforts to secure Israeli gas are more significant than before the crisis, strengthening Israel’s hand in its negotiations with Ankara.

Moreover, Turkey probably sees NATO more positively since it borders Russia, pushing Ankara toward the West. It is less likely to obstruct Israel-NATO relations.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine reminds the world that the use of force is still one item in a nations’ toolbox.

As a result, many Jews are moving to Israel. Perhaps Jews in Russia could join this trend.

While war is never welcome, it may have some positive implications.

US Publicizing Bad Intelligence in Information War Against Russia

The US has no evidence Russia was preparing a chemical weapons attack despite claims from Biden officials

In recent weeks, US officials, including President Biden, claimed that Russia was considering using chemical weapons in Ukraine. But three US officials told NBC News this week that there is no evidence Russia had moved any chemical weapons near Ukraine and that the claims were part of an information war against Moscow.

The US officials said that the Biden administration has been sharing declassified intelligence that wasn’t “rock solid.” The NBC report said that multiple US officials acknowledged that the US has used information as a weapon against Russia “even when confidence in the accuracy of the information wasn’t high.”

The report said the US has used “low confidence” information, like the chemical weapons claims, as a “deterrent effect.” One official told NBC that by sharing the information, the US is just “trying to get inside Putin’s head.”

Another example of the US sharing bad intelligence is the claim that Putin is being misinformed by his advisors about the war in Ukraine, which first surfaced in media reports last week. Two US officials told NBC that the intelligence about Putin’s inner circle lying to him “wasn’t conclusive” and was “based more on analysis than hard evidence.”

In another deceptive intelligence release, the US said Russia would view providing MiG fighter jets to Ukraine as escalatory, which bolstered the Pentagon’s position not to transfer the planes to Kyiv. But two US officials said that was also true for Stinger missiles, which the US and its allies have given to the Ukrainians.

A European official and two US officials said that the claim that Russia asked China for military help “lacked hard evidence.” Both Beijing and Moscow strongly denied the claim after it spread through Western media.

The NBC report said that by declassifying so much intelligence, the Biden administration was able to publicly predict Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But during the lead-up to the invasion and since, Western media reports have been full of other unsubstantiated claims about Russia and Ukraine.

The FBI Boosts Its Social Media Surveillance Technology

Both US law enforcement and Babel Street CEO Jeffrey Chapman seem to like to keep it in the family: Chapman is a former Treasury Department official and a former intelligence officer, whose data mining “AI” company will now furnish the FBI with 5,000 licenses for one of its tools.

The contract is worth up to $27 million.

The licenses, to be provided by Panamerica Computers IT vendor, give the FBI – specifically its Strategic Technology Unit of Directorate of Intelligence – the right to use a data analytics tool called Babel X, which harvests user data, including location, from the internet.

This Directorate is supposed to collect data that’s publicly available online.

When the FBI issued a procurement call for a tool, whose purpose, boiled down, is to track a massive number of social media posts, the agency said that it must provide capability of searching multiple social media sites, in multiple languages.

As per FBI’s procurement documents, the tool had to be able to scrape data from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Deep/Dark Web, VK, and Telegram, while being able to do the same with Snapchat, TikTok. Reddit, 8Kun, Gab, Parler, ask.fm, Weibo, and Discord would be considered a plus, FedScoop said.

In addition, the FBI said it would prefer more “fringe” as well as encrypted messaging platforms to be included in the winning bid. Another requirement was for the tool to carry out surveillance of these sites continuously, while the data collected would be held by the vendor and then pushed to the FBI.

Back in 2020, reports said that Babel X was selling a platform called Locate X to a number of law enforcement agencies: Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the Secret Service, and that the data broker’s tool was capable of collecting real-time location data from a huge number of users.

Locate X was taking location data anonymously from well-known phone apps that incorporate mapping or targeted ads, and is used for dragnet surveillance via the digital fence method.

NY AG asks judge to hold Trump in contempt

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) on Thursday asked a state judge to hold former President Trump in civil contempt over his failure to comply with a court order requiring him to hand over documents as part of an ongoing civil investigation by James’s office.

James, in a 21-page filing, also requested that Judge Arthur Engoron fine the former president $10,000 for each day he fails to produce the documents amid James’s ongoing probe of whether the Trump Organization unlawfully falsified the value of assets for financial gain.

The latest development comes after Engoron gave Trump a March 31 deadline to comply with the New York attorney general’s subpoena for records and ordered the former president and his two eldest children to comply with subpoenas for their testimony.

Trump is appealing the order granting the attorney general’s request for testimony. But in James’s filing on Thursday, she argued Trump has failed to appeal or otherwise properly contest the order for document production.

“Mr. Trump should now be held in civil contempt and fined in an amount sufficient to coerce his compliance with the Court’s order and compensate [Office of Attorney General] for its fees and costs associated with this motion,” James’s motion reads.

A spokesperson for the Trump Organization in a statement called James’s request Thursday “completely baseless.”

“President Trump left The Trump Organization in 2017 and any responsive documents were previously provided to the AG by The Trump Organization,” the spokesperson said in the statement. “This is just more harassment and the latest chapter in the AG’s continued witch hunt.”

James’s office in January said it had uncovered “significant” evidence that the Trump Organization has for years been falsifying the value of its assets for financial gain, including to win tax breaks and attract investors.

Senate votes 100-0 to limit trade with Russia, ban oil imports

The Senate on Thursday unanimously passed a package to end normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus and codify the administration’s ban on Russian oil imports, capping off weeks of negotiations that had stalled the legislation.

Senators voted 100-0 on two bills. The first ends permanent, normal trade relations with the Russia and Belarus. The bill also reauthorizes Magnitsky Act sanctions that target human rights violations and corruption with penalties like visa bans or asset freezes.

The second bill, which also passed 100-0, codifies the Biden administration’s ban on Russian oil imports.

Because the Senate made changes to both bills they need to be passed by the House before they go to President Biden’s desk. The House is expected to pass the bills on Thursday, a day after the Senate announced on Wednesday night that it has reached a deal.

“No nation whose military is committing war crimes deserves free-trade status with the United States. No vile thug like Putin deserves to stand as an equal with the leaders of the free world,” Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said ahead of the votes.

Senators were under pressure to reach an agreement before they leave town on Thursday for a two-week break and as Russia continues its weeks-long bloody invasion of Ukraine. That pressure only grew this week after photos emerged over the weekend of destruction in Bucha, a town northwest of Ukraine’s capital, including images of people lying dead in the streets and in mass graves, triggering widespread condemnation.

Biden said that he believed Russia had committed war crimes, while Schumer went further, saying it was “genocide, and Mr. Putin is guilty of it.”

The Senate’s vote is the first Ukraine-related bill it has had a roll call vote on since it passed billions in Ukraine aid as part of a sweeping government funding bill last month.

The trade bill passed the House on March 17, while the bill to codify the Biden administration’s oil ban passed on March 9.

But they faced headwinds in the Senate, as negotiators faced several potential sticking points. The most high-profile hurdle was a days-long negotiation with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) over reauthorizing the Magnitsky Act sanctions, which is riding on the trade bill. The House bill changed the Magnitsky Act language from targeting “gross” human rights violations to targeting “serious” human rights violations, codifying a Trump-era executive order.

Negotiators had appeared to cut a deal with Paul last week but indicated as recently as Tuesday that they were still haggling over the language. In the end, the Senate deal sticks with the original Magnitsky Act language currently in law, instead of updating it.

As part of a deal to get votes on the Russia package today, the Senate also passed bipartisan legislation on Wednesday night to establish a lend-lease program for Ukraine, making it easier to send military aid to the country.

Senior Russian MP praises transfer of power in Yemen

The Yemeni president’s decision to transfer his powers to a new presidential council is a novel and bold political move, achieved thanks to the major role played by Saudi mediation, Chairman of the Russian State Duma’s (lower house) Committee for International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, told TASS on Thursday.

"The political transition envisaging the transfer of President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi’s power to the newly-formed presidential leadership council with an inclusive lineup became possible in keeping with the agreements achieved within the framework of the intra-Yemeni dialogue under the aegis of the Gulf Cooperation Council with the crucial role of Riyadh," he said. The council will include representatives from all Yemeni provinces, Slutsky explained.

"This is a novel, bold and requiring political will move," Slutsky added. According to him, it is aimed at leading Yemen out of the crisis that has continued for the past several years. In comments on the role of Riyadh in the Yemeni settlement, the senior legislator pointed out that the authorities of the kingdom also intended to allocate sizable funds for the settlement of Yemen’s humanitarian problems.

"Riyadh’s active, asserting policy along the political, humanitarian and de-escalation tracks has already played a substantial role towards the stabilization of the situation not only in the Gulf, but in the Middle East region as a whole," he added. According to Slutsky, Russia is ready to help in these efforts as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and part of multi-lateral formats of the Yemeni settlement.

Last night, Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi announced the transfer of power to a presidential council that will carry out political, military and security duties during a ‘transitional period’. The new body consists of a chair and seven deputies, assuming the duties of both the president and the vice president.

Armed confrontation between government forces and Ansar Allah (Houthi) rebels has been going on in Yemen since August 2014, reaching the most active phase in March 2015 after the Saudi-led coalition invaded the country. The ongoing conflict has triggered the world’s gravest humanitarian crisis, with more than 24 million Yemenis, or about 80% of the country’s population, being in need for humanitarian aid and the number of internally displaced persons exceeding three million, according to the UN data.
