Sean Penn to Hannity: U.S. Mustn't Be 'Intimidated' From Using Nukes Against Russia Over Ukraine

Actor Sean Penn went on Fox News host Sean Hannity's show on Tuesday night to argue that America mustn't be "intimidated" from using nuclear weapons against Russia over the conflict in Ukraine.

After Hannity said Ukraine should have never given up their nuclear weapons, Penn responded: "Even countries that have nuclear weapons can remain intimidated to use them, and we are seeing that now with our own country. And I fear what that legacy is going to be."

No one wants to see a nuclear conflict, at the same time, if only one bully is gonna be able to use them as a threat, we got to rethink what we're doing," Penn said.

Though Hannity concurred with Penn's statement and said he doesn't want to see a nuclear conflict, less than two weeks ago he said the US must be willing to nuke Russia "off the face of the earth" if they use WMDs in Ukraine and mustn't "cower in fear" over the prospect of a global nuclear holocaust triggered by "mutually assured destruction."

Both Seans' statements are supreme idiocy as the threat of nuclear annihilation is a constant for both of our nations, as is mutually assured destruction.

Ukraine had every opportunity to make peace with Russia and declare itself a neutral country but instead the Zelensky regime threatened to acquire nuclear weapons, took billions in arms shipments from the US and insisted on pushing to join NATO.

This whole conflict could have been easily avoided if Ukraine and the regime in Washington, DC listened to folks like John Mearsheimer but instead they kept poking the bear.

Penn, Hannity and the rest of the neocons demanding the US enter World War III over this conflict should all be forced to register as foreign agents.

Medical waste company edits website after being accused of burning aborted babies for electricity

While the medical waste center has insisted that the accusations made against it by pro-lifers are inaccurate, it appears the company has subsequently removed some of the controversial content from its website which seemed to give weight to the claims.

Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services in Baltimore, Maryland, appears to have removed some crucial content from their website following startling allegations made by pro-life activists that the company incinerates the bodies of aborted babies to generate electricity.

Curtis Bay has strongly denied the claims they transport or incinerate aborted babies, arguing that handling the remains of aborted children is against company policy which considers both “fetal remains” and “human cadavers” in an “unacceptable waste” category.

However, it appears the company has subsequently removed a crucial piece of controversial content from its website which seemed to give weight to the pro-lifers’ claims.

In a Tuesday article, LifeSiteNews had quoted the company’s “Our Process” webpage in which Curtis Bay had stated it “utilizes Waste-to-Energy incineration to safely convert infectious/biomedical waste and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals into useful energy.”

LifeSiteNews revisited the Our Process page Wednesday and can confirm that the quoted content no longer appears on the site.

Danish Merc Confirms Ukrainian Forces are Killing Russian PoWs

Moscow has accused the Ukrainian military and neo-Nazi battalion fighters of acts of sadism against captured Russian military personnel, with Ukrainian forces themselves openly posting multiple videos of Russian PoWs being tortured and killed in cold blood.

A Danish ‘volunteer’ fighting in Ukraine has confirmed to local media that Ukrainian forces have been killing Russian forces.

“I’ve heard about one successful prisoner exchange, and that’s it. People are being killed,” the fighter, using the pseudonym ‘Jonas’, told Denmark’s TV2. The channel confirmed that that it knows his real identity, and that he really is in Ukraine.

The fighter said he spoke to some of the captured Russian PoWs before their execution. He said one of the troops was an 18-year-old Russian who worked as a computer programmer. “The following morning he was buried. These things follow you,” he said.

‘Jonas’ distanced himself from the war crimes, and insisted that he did not personally participate in the killings of captured Russian troops.

International laws of warfare to which both Russia and Ukraine are signatories prohibit the killing of captured combatants, and demands that they be treated humanely and be provided medical attention if required. The execution of prisoners of war is prohibited.

‘Jonas’ said he’s an experienced sniper with military training and experience in several conflicts around the world, and claims to have killed nearly 100 Russians during his time in Ukraine. “I did what I could. Let’s put it this way,” he said. The mercenary also said that his family back in Denmark was proud of him, and that his father was “happy to hear” that he would be travelling to Ukraine to fight.

The mercenary also spoke about the fallout from the Russian precision missile strike on the military base in western Ukraine in March, saying about half of the foreigners at the base chose to leave the country after the strike.

The Danish government has allowed its citizens to go fight in Ukraine without facing any legal consequences. Despite being widely described in media as “volunteers,” many of the foreign nationals fighting in Ukraine are being paid, whether by private businessmen, GoFundMe campaigns, job postings on sites such as Silent Professionals, or, reportedly, by Ukraine directly.

Governor-General personally lobbied Scott Morrison about leadership program given $18m in funding

The Governor-General David Hurley personally lobbied Prime Minister Scott Morrison about a leadership program that was later allocated more than $18 million in federal funding.

Last week's budget included the money for the Australian Future Leaders Foundation Limited, which claimed to have the support of an impressive list of business leaders, was only registered as a charity in April 2021 and is yet to run any leadership programs.

It has been spearheaded by Chris Hartley, who some suggest has used the foundation to climb the social ladder.

The federal opposition is demanding to know why the foundation deserved the funding, which includes $3.6 million this financial year.

"The government should explain why it is that we've got $18 million paid over to an entity which as yet doesn't seem to be operational," Labor senator Penny Wong said.

For the past two years Mr Hartley, who is one of the three directors of the foundation and its secretary, gathered support for his leadership program and successfully asked the Governor-General to pitch the proposal to the Prime Minister.

The ABC has seen correspondence in which Mr Hartley boasted that the Governor-General had given a PowerPoint presentation to Mr Morrison in late 2020.

Mr Hartley said in the correspondence that Mr Morrison was on board with the project and asked his office to press ahead with it.

In another email seen by the ABC, Mr Hartley said that the Prime Minister's Office would "own" the project.

A spokesperson for the Governor-General confirmed there had been "several conversations" between him and Mr Morrison dating back to 2020.

"Ultimately public funding is a decision for the government. The Governor-General will continue to advocate for the program and support it once it is launched."

Promotional material seen by the ABC declared the "Governor-General's Australian Future Leaders Programme" had the in-principle support, including financial and in-kind commitments, of numerous senior leaders from different organisations and groups including Twitter, Tabcorp, Jaguar Land Rover, the Business Council, the Smith Family and Accenture.

Four Kinder egg products are being recalled by the Food Standards authority due to potential salmonella contamination.

The four products have been on sale at various supermarkets and stores including Coles, Woolworths, Target, Kmart, Big W, independent food retailers as well as online.

Consumers should not eat the product it is recommended that they are returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Anyone concerned about their health following consumption is advised to seek medical attention.

Justice Department Investigating Trump’s Handling of Classified White House Records Taken to Mar-a-Lago

The Justice Department is investigating Trump’s handling of classified White House documents stored at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

The National Archives in February asked the Justice Department to investigate Trump’s handling of White House records after it raided Mar-a-Lago in January and took 15 boxes of documents.

The National Archives previously claimed classified records were found in Trump’s boxes at Mar-a-Lago.

“NARA has identified items marked as classified national security information within the boxes,” Ferriero wrote, responding to a question from the House, according to CNN. “Because NARA identified classified information in the boxes, NARA staff has been in communication with the Department of Justice.”

Trump routinely brought classified material to Mar-a-Lago, a place he dubbed his ‘Winter White House.’

Whenever President Trump has wanted to view/store classified material at Mar-a-Lago, he would do so in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility).

The classified material found by the National Archives was stored in the SCIF and it is not unusual for a former president to be in possession of classified documents.

Furthermore, a US president can declassify material at any time.

The Justice Department has launched an investigation into Trump’s handling of the White House documents, because why not.

The Justice Department has begun investigating the handling 15 boxes of White House records, including classified information, taken to Mar-a-Lago after former President Donald Trump left office, a source familiar with the matter tells CNN.

This comes as the Justice Department is blocking the National Archives from sharing details on the boxes with Congress, which has launched its own investigation.

The FBI and Justice prosecutors routinely conduct reviews when classified materials are found to have been handled or stored in ways that don’t meet government requirements. Moving and storing classified information to the former President’s private club in Florida would appear to fall outside those requirements.

It is also common practice for the Justice Department to limit information that government agencies share with Congress while an investigation is ongoing.

The Justice Department declined to comment. The Archives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Michigan's Democratic governor sues to get rid of 1931 state ban on abortion

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) said Thursday she has filed a lawsuit to have the state supreme court decide whether Michigan's constitution protects the right to abortion.

The governor is challenging a 1931 state law that bans abortion at all stages of pregnancy but has not been enforced in the state since the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Planned Parenthood of Michigan has filed a concurrent lawsuit against the same law.

“In the coming weeks, we will learn if the U.S. Supreme Court decides to overturn Roe v. Wade,” Whitmer said in a statement. “If Roe is overturned, abortion could become illegal in Michigan in nearly any circumstance—including in cases of rape and incest— and deprive Michigan women of the ability to make critical health care decisions for themselves. This is no longer theoretical: it is reality. That’s why I am filing a lawsuit and using my executive authority to urge the Michigan Supreme Court to immediately resolve whether Michigan’s state constitution protects the right to abortion."

She explained that she would use her executive authority to go directly to the state supreme court, rather than through the lower courts or the Republican-controlled legislature. The high court has a 4-3 majority of Democrat-nominated justices.

Whitmer wants the court to recognize a constitutional right to abortion under the due process clause of the Michigan constitution. She is also asking for the court to prevent the state government from enforcing the 1931 abortion ban, which does not include exceptions for rape or incest.

"The abortion ban violates Michigan’s due process clause, which provides a right to privacy and bodily autonomy that is violated by the state’s near-total criminal ban of abortion. It also violates Michigan’s Equal Protection Clause due to the way the ban denies women equal rights because the law was adopted to reinforce antiquated notions of the proper role for women in society," the governor's office argues.

Whitmer's lawsuit was filed in anticipation that the 6-3 majority of Republican-nominated justices on the U.S. Supreme Court will either overturn Roe or create new restrictions on the right to abortion this summer with a ruling on Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban. Michigan is one of 26 states that have so-called "trigger" laws on the books that would ban or severely restrict abortions if Roe v. Wade is overturned, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

“Overturning Roe will criminalize abortion and impact nearly 2.2 million Michigan women. If a woman is forced to continue a pregnancy against her will, it can have devastating consequences, including keeping families in poverty and making it harder for women and families to make ends meet," Whitmer said.

NATO Chief Says Sweden, Finland Could ‘Easily Join’ Its Ranks If They Apply

If Finland and Sweden decide to apply for NATO membership, all allies of the defensive alliance would quickly welcome both Nordic countries, said NATO’s top civilian official.

“It’s for them to decide of course, but if they apply, I expect that all allies will welcome them,” Jens Stoltenberg told a Wednesday news conference in Brussels. “We know that they can easily join this alliance if they decide to apply.”

Pekka Haavisto, Finland’s foreign minister, announced on Thursday after meeting NATO foreign ministers in the Belgian capital that it will clarify the next steps in a possible NATO membership in the coming weeks.

While Finland hasn’t expressed a strong interest in joining NATO for decades, a sudden U-turn in public opinion to apply for NATO membership shifted after an opinion poll last month by Finnish broadcaster YLE showed that, for the first time, more than 50 percent of Finns support joining the Western military alliance.

In neighboring Sweden, a similar poll showed that those in favor of NATO membership outnumber those against it.

Haavisto said his country’s lawmakers are due this month to debate a government white paper on security, including an option for NATO accession. He said Russia’s attack on Ukraine has changed public opinion.

Both Nordic countries are part of the European Union, but not NATO. However, they cooperate closely with the bloc and allow, among other things, for the alliance’s troops to exercise on their soil.

Stoltenberg said the military alliance might be prepared to provide security guarantees to the two neutral nations if they face threats by Russia upon joining NATO.

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign minister, warned in February that Sweden and Finland would face “serious military and political repercussions” if they were to join NATO.

Key Player In Ex-Clinton Lawyer’s Trial Intends To Plead The Fifth

A former technology executive who helped spy on the White House intends to invoke his right against self-incrimination if he is called to testify during the upcoming trial of a lawyer who represented Hillary Clinton’s campaign during the 2016 election, according to court documents.

Michael Sussman, the lawyer, is set to go on trial for allegedly lying to the FBI.

Sussman was representing Rodney Joffe, a tech executive, when he went to the FBI and handed over three white papers that contained unsubstantiated allegations against then-candidate Donald Trump, Clinton’s rival in the presidential race, according to U.S. prosecutors.

Sussman says he gave the information to the FBI as a concerned citizen and the parties he was representing at the time are not relevant.

If Joffe were to testify during the trial, he would “offer critical exculpatory testimony,” Sussman’s lawyers said in one of the new filings. Among the angles would be that “Mr. Sussmann and Mr. Joffe agreed that information should be conveyed to the FBI and to Agency-2,” believed to be the CIA, “to help the government, not to benefit Mr. Joffe.”

But Joffe plans on invoking his rights under the Fifth Amendment if called to testify because prosecutors say he remains the subject of an investigation.

Steven Tyrell, representing Joffe, said in a letter just made public that he spoke with Andrew DeFilippis, a prosecutor on Special Counsel John Durham’s team, on March 31 after receiving a subpoena for Joffe to testify.

After receiving confirmation Joffe remains under investigation, Tyrell asked for more details.

“Rather than provide any additional information to aid in our assessment of the risk of prosecution, Mr. DeFilippis stated that in his view, Mr. Joffe’s status in the investigation was sufficient to establish a good faith basis to invoke the privilege against self-incrimination. Mr. DeFilippis further stated that OSC did not want to get into any more detail, and presumed that Latham would understand if Mr. Joffe decided to invoke,” Tyrell said in the letter, which was sent to Sussman’s lawyers at Latham & Watkins.

Sussman’s lawyers alleged that Durham’s team is “manufacturing incredible claims of continuing criminal liability” to force Joffe to not testify, alleging it is “simply inconceivable that Mr. Joffe faces any real continuing criminal exposure in connection with the special counsel’s investigation.”
