Cargo Jet Skids Off Runaway in Costa Rica, Splits in Half

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica—A DHL cargo jet slid off the runway and broke in half while landing at San Jose’s international airport Thursday, shutting down the airport, but not injuring crew.

The fire department said the Boeing 757 had taken off from Juan Santamaría Airport just west of the capital, but decided to return after detecting a failure in the hydraulic system.

Héctor Chaves, director the Costa Rica Fire Department, said that upon landing the aircraft skidded, turned and broke in two, exposing its cargo.

“Units mobilized to remove the pilot and co-pilot,” Chaves said. “Then they applied foam to prevent a spill and now they are working on an earthen dike to avoid any fuel from reaching the drainage system.”

DHL spokesman Daniel McGrath said the company was working with airport authorities to move the plane so flights could resume. He said an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

DHL is a subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Luis Miranda, deputy director of civil aviation for Costa Rica, said the plane had gone only about 35 miles from the airport when it requested permission to turn back from its planned flight to Guatemala City. He said the pilot and co-pilot were the only crew members aboard the plane, which was carrying only about 2.5 hours worth of fuel. .

The airport administration said the crash would keep the airport closed to incoming and outgoing flights until at least 6 p.m. Some flights would be diverted to Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, about 125 miles northwest of San Jose.

All House Democrats on the Judiciary Committee voted against a proposed amendment to a domestic terrorism bill that would have prevented American intelligence and security agencies from receiving taxpayer funds to “monitor, analyze, investigate or prosecute” Americans unvaccinated against COVID-19.

Rep. Thomas Massie broke the news of the party line vote amidst a Judiciary Committee debate over a domestic terrorism bill via Twitter, revealing “Due to a troubling DHS bulletin, @RepAndyBiggsAZ offered an amendment to prevent the targeting of Americans due to their views on COVID vax.”

”Every Dem. voted against his amdt!,” the Kentucky Congressman continued.

The bill in question, H.R. 350 or the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021, authorizes various federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to use taxpayer-funded resources to “analyze and monitor domestic terrorist activity” and “take steps to prevent domestic terrorism.”

The term “domestic terrorism,” however, has seen its definition reoriented under President Joe Biden, with a recent memo from the Department of Homeland Security claiming individuals spreading “conspiracy theories” and “disinformation” pose a significant threat to American national security.

The document, released February, singled out individuals sharing election fraud and COVID-19-related stories.

“There is widespread online proliferation of false or misleading narratives regarding unsubstantiated widespread election fraud and COVID-19. Grievances associated with these themes inspired violent extremist attacks during 2021,” claimed the agency.

“COVID-19 mitigation measures—particularly COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates—have been used by domestic violent extremists to justify violence since 2020 and could continue to inspire these extremists to target government, healthcare, and academic institutions that they associate with those measures,” it continued.

The memo promoted Republican Congressman Andy Biggs to introduce an amendment of a revised version of the bill ensuring that unvaccinated Americans would not be targeted by American intelligence and security agencies.

Bin Laden’s niece praises Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz for backing Capitol rioters

Osama bin Laden’s niece, Noor bin Ladin, has praised Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) as well as Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) for publicly defending the US Capitol rioters.

In an interview with former President Donald Trump strategist Steve Bannon on Real America’s Voice on Wednesday, bin Ladin described those accused of storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as “patriots” who are being “smeared and crushed” by the media and Department of Justice.

The 35-year-old accused the US government and lawmakers of not doing more to defend those charged in the wake of the attacks.

“This is traitor-level, in my opinion, that those who are supposed to represent the citizens are failing,” bin Ladin said.

“We can be really grateful for representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, [Matt] Gaetz, Sen. Ron Johnson … [they are] among the handful defending and standing up and speaking about these political prisoners,” she added.

Greene and Gaetz have previously said they are unashamed of the violent insurrection and have repeatedly demanded to know how those in custody over the riots are being treated amid allegations of abuse.

Bin Ladin, who told The Post in her first-ever interview in 2020 that another 9/11 attack would happen if Trump wasn’t re-elected, echoed those claims of abuse — specifically arguing that the accused will not be given fair trials.

“It’s so shocking to see they are being presumed guilty and have to be proven innocent,” she said of the rioters.

Bin Ladin, who lives in Geneva, Switzerland, went on to claim that the Jan. 6 attack didn’t amount to an attempt to overthrow the federal government.

“This entire insurrection narrative is a hoax … I’ll keep saying it, this wasn’t an insurrection, it was an entrapment operation,” she said.

Her comments came after she published a 1,500-word statement on her website, which she subsequently sent to the United Nations, that decried the treatment of the Capitol rioters.

“The subsequent crackdown on the Jan. 6 protesters by U.S. security services, the physical abuse of arrested protesters, and the surveillance and intimidation of their political supporters throughout the United States, all constitute a massive violation of UN human rights norms,” she wrote.

Bin Ladin told Bannon in their interview that she penned the statement in a bid to call out what she said was both the “UN’s hypocrisy and the abuses of the US government.”

‘This Raises Serious Questions’ – BLM Paid $5.8 Million For LA Mansion From BLM-Linked Developer Who Paid $3.1 Million For It 6 Days Earlier

Say you’re laundering money, without saying you’re laundering money.

As previously reported, the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation spent approximately $6 million on a lavish Southern Californian mansion using donor cash and then took measures to keep the purchase a secret, according to a report Monday.

In October 2020, two weeks after BLM received a $66.5 million cash infusion from its fiscal sponsor, the group employed a man with close ties to the charity’s co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, to secretly purchase the 7-bedroom residence.

Dyane Pascall, the financial manager for Janaya and Patrisse Consulting — an LLC operated by Cullors and her spouse, Janaya Khan, bought the Studio City mansion in cash to conceal the misuse of the charities’ donations.

Six days later, Pascal transferred the property’s deed to an LLC named after the property’s address, New York Magazine reports.

It turns out, the BLM-linked developer paid $3.1 million for the same mansion just 6 days earlier, the New York Post reported.

The mansion was then purchased by BLM (BLMGNF) for $5.8 million and paid for IN CASH — it was paid to a shell company registered a few days before, the Daily Mail reported.

According to The Post, the $5.8 million sales price is 250% more expensive than other similar homes in the area.

The house was purchased by Dyane Pascall, a real estate developer who worked for Janaya and Patrisse Consulting, a for-profit firm run by BLMGNF co-founder Patrisse Cullors and her partner Janaya Khan.

On October 21, 2020, property records show that Pascall bought the mansion from televangelists Shawn and Cherie Bolz. The sale price for both parcels of land was $3.1 million, Shawn Bolz told The Post Tuesday.

Pascall purchased the property two weeks after the California Attorney General approved a $65 million transfer from Thousand Currents, the charity which collected donations on behalf of BLMGNF. The group has delayed its reporting to the IRS, and not yet disclosed where that money has gone.

Two days after the purchase, on October 23, lawyers for the Democratic law firm Perkins Coie incorporated a limited liability company (LLC) in Delaware named for the mansion’s address. Four days later — on October 27 — the home was transferred to the company for $5.8 million, records show. Property records also show that no transfer taxes were charged. BLMGNF is a tax-exempt charity.

“A review of property assessment records show the value of the mansion BLMGNF purchased skyrocketed while all the neighboring properties saw an average of less than a five percent increase,” said Tom Anderson, director of the Government Integrity Project at the National Legal and Policy Center.

“This raises serious questions concerning the purchase price of the house and the way the transaction was handled through cash and a shadowy LLC,” Anderson said.

Former BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors said anyone questioning or criticizing this dubious real estate transaction is racist and sexist.

Four Secret Service Agents Tied To Phony Cop Scandal Suspended

Four US Secret Service agents have been suspected over links to two men accused of impersonating federal law enforcement officers, who reportedly gave thousands of dollars worth of gifts to agency personnel - including one assigned to First Lady Jill Biden's detail, according to Reuters.

The two Washington men, Arian Taherzadeh, 40, and Haider Ali, 35, appeared in federal court on Thursday a day after being arrested. Prosecutors said they plan to charge them with conspiracy in a scheme in which they are accused of posing as U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents.

Taherzadeh offered to purchase a $2,000 assault rifle for a Secret Service agent assigned to protect first lady Jill Biden and told other government officials they could have access to what he claimed were "official government vehicles," the FBI said. -Reuters

According to federal prosecutor Joshua Rothstein, Ali told witnesses he was linked to the Pakistani Intelligence Service (ISI), while US authorities have reportedly recovered a passport from Ali which shows he had three visas to visit Pakistan and two for Iran.

The pair were caught when they lied to a US Postal inspector investigating the March assault of a letter carrier. The men told the inspector they were part of a special police investigative unit looking into undercover gang-work and investigations into the January 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol. They had been posing as such since at least February 2020 according to the report.

Taherzadeh attempted to delete his social media history after he learned he was under investigation, according to Rothstein.

Canada Set To Announce 2 Year Ban On Foreign Purchases Of Residential Real Estate

At least, that looks like what the story is going to wind up being for the Canadian housing market. The country is reportedly set to announce that it will ban foreign purchases of residential real estate for two years.

"The foreign buyers ban will apply to condos, apartments, and single residential units," according to CTV. "Permanent residents, foreign workers, and students will be excluded from this new measure. Foreigners who are purchasing their primary residence here in Canada will be exempt."

The effects will likely be dramatic, as foreign purchases of real estate accounted for a lot of the bid that helped Canadian housing skyrocket to begin with.

"The timing is a classic case of closing the barn door after the horses have left," ForexLive's Adam Button wrote this week. He noted that the market had already started to cool in March amidst interest rate hikes.

Big Media Lobbyists Try to Save JCPA with Sham Amendment

Big media companies are making another attempt to pass the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA), a bill that would protect them from online competition, propping up legacy media in the face of widespread public distrust and a failing business model.

According to an exclusive story published by News Corp’s Wall Street Journal (News Corp has been a major backer of this legislation, and similar efforts around the world), the new version of theJCPA would give an even bigger advantage to legacy media companies, giving them an antitrust exemption for ten years instead of the four years of the original bill.

Publishers would be given the legal authority to form a cartel, usually illegal under antitrust law, to collectively bargain with Silicon Valley tech giants for financial handouts and special treatment, such as prioritization in search results, news feeds, and other core features.

The amended bill would also force Big Tech to come to terms with Big Media, by imposing an arbitration process on them. If Big Tech companies cannot voluntarily make a deal to favor discredited Big Media companies, an arbitrator will force one upon them.

The likely losers of the bill are the new generation of independent journalists and content creators on Substack, YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms, creators that younger demographics increasingly turn to as trust in the legacy media fades. As they are not traditional media companies, this new generation of media creators would likely be excluded from the benefits of the bill.

The previous version of the bill excluded any media creator that is not “similarly situated” to other members of the cartel, which certainly would have excluded the legacy media’s new online competitors.

There is no indication in the Wall Street Journal’s report that this has changed.

Multiple Republican legislators including GOP leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) have all denounced the JCPA, warning that it is a handout to discredited media companies that also deepens their collusion with Big Tech.

Experts including FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington, President Trump’s Big Tech expert Prof. Adam Candeub, and former federal antitrust enforcer Dr. Daniel Francis have all warned that the legislation is misguided.

The Wall Street Journal points to a new amendment, which restricts the bill’s protections to media companies with fewer than 1,500 employees, as evidence that the amended bill is not simply a bailout for the world’s largest and richest media companies.

This is incorrect. Many wealthy and influential national media brands, including MSNBC and the Washington Post, already have fewer than 1,500 employees.
